Introduction
The StarTech.com USB-to-Parallel Interface Converter cable allows PCs that support the USB specification to print to any standard parallel printer. The USB interface provides a much faster data transfer rate than a standard parallel port, thereby reducing the time waiting for a print job to be sent to your printer. This portable device is self-powered and provides Plug and Play installation to any USB-compliant computer running Windows.

Installation
NOTE: Installation on a computer that is running Windows 2000 (and later), or Mac OS 10.4 (and later) is automatic.
- Connect the USB to the Parallel cable to an available USB port – do not connect the printer to the cable yet.
- The OS will detect the cable and install the necessary software automatically.
Windows 98SE
- Open a web browser and go to www.startech.com/downloads.
- Enter your product ID (ICUSB1284 or ICUSB128410) and click Search.
- Select the product from the search results, and download the available Prolific_ PL2305.zip file.
- Once downloaded, extract the contents using your preferred zip file utility.
- Connect the USB to the Parallel cable to an available USB port – do not connect the printer to the cable yet.
- Windows will detect the adapter and prompt for drivers.
- Browse to the location where the download was saved and select the “Prolific_PL2305. zip\MS_pl2305_Win98” folder as the location to search for drivers.
- Windows will automatically install the drivers from the download.
