Product Information

The product is a Flowmaster performance system designed for the 2014-2022 Jeep Cherokee with a 3.2L engine. It includes various components such as front inlet pipe, rear inlet pipe, mid pipe, muffler assembly, tip extension, and stainless band clamps. The package also includes a hardware package (PK1040) with necessary installation accessories.

Product Usage Instructions

1. Before starting the installation, carefully read and understand the instructions provided.
2. Check and inventory all the parts included in the package. If any parts are missing, report it to the tech line.
3. Raise the vehicle using a hoist or rack. If unavailable, use jack stands to support the vehicle.
4. Support the factory exhaust system and unbolt both muffler isolator mounts (x2) and loosen the clamp from the inlet pipe.
5. Remove the existing muffler assembly from the vehicle and transfer the isolator mounts to the Flowmaster muffler.
6. If desired, replace the factory resonator by loosening the band clamp, disconnecting the resonator pipe, and removing it from the vehicle.
7. Attach the clamp onto the front inlet pipe and connect it to the factory pipe, aligning the inlet pipe notch with the factory pipe tab. Also, attach the clamp onto the mid pipe and connect it to the front inlet pipe. Tighten the clamps enough for adjustment later.
8. Remove nuts from both stock and Flowmaster clamps, apply anti-seize compound to bolts, and reinstall nuts. Ensure that slip fit connections seat 3 deep except for muffler connections which must seat 2 deep. Mark all slip fit components in the kit accordingly for proper fitting.
9. If connecting to the factory resonator, align the rear pipe notch with the resonator pipe tab and attach the clamp onto the rear pipe. Tighten the clamp enough for adjustment.
10. For Jeep applications with exhaust bezels, modify the muffler assembly by cutting off the tips at the weld and deburr the cut pipes.
11. Attach (x2 ea.) clamps onto the tip extension and connect them to the muffler assembly. Tighten the clamps completely.
12. Attach the clamp onto the muffler assembly and connect it to the tailpipe. Re-bolt hanger mounts and tighten the clamp enough to hold the parts.
13. Adjust all exhaust components for fit, maintaining a 1/2 inch clearance, and compensating for suspension, travel, and vibration. Finally, tighten all clamps securely.

OVERVIEW

1. Take a moment to read and understand these instructions before installing your Flowmaster performance system.
   NOTE: Please inventory all parts now before continuing and if necessary, report any missing items to our tech line. This will avoid potentially stranding your vehicle until any missing replacement parts arrive.

REMOVE STOCK EXHAUST SYSTEM

• Raise vehicle up on a hoist or rack to working height. If you don’t have access to a hoist or rack, support vehicle with jack stands.

WARNING!
Avoid serious burns! Allow your vehicle time to cool completely before touching any engine components.

To ease preparation and installation of your new kit:

• Apply penetrating lubricant to mounts, bolts and clamps before you remove them.
• Use stands as necessary to support parts as you detach them from your vehicle and again as you install new parts.

• Support factory exhaust then unbolt both muffler isolator mounts (x2) and loosen clamp from inlet pipe.
• Remove muffler assembly from vehicle then transfer isolator mounts over to FFX muffler. NOTE: If you would like to replace your factory resonator, complete steps 5 and 6, otherwise skip to step 7.
• Loosen band clamp, disconnect resonator pipe and remove from vehicle.
• Place clamp (6) onto front inlet pipe (1) then connect it to factory pipe, lining inlet pipe notch up to factory pipe tab as shown below. Place clamp (6) onto mid pipe (3) and connect it to front inlet pipe. Tighten clamps just enough to allow for later adjustment.

INSTALL FLOWMASTER EXHAUST SYSTEM

• Remove nuts from stock and Flowmaster clamps, apply anti-seize compound to bolts and re-install nuts. NOTE: The image in this step is intended for illustrative purposes only and may or may not accurately reflect components included in your kit.

•  Every slip fit connection in this kit must seat 3″ deep except for muffler connections which must seat 2″ deep. Find all slip fit components in your kit and mark them accordingly so your Flowmaster exhaust system fits properly onto your vehicle.
  NOTE: If connecting to factory resonator, line rear pipe notch up to resonator pipe tab.

• Place clamp (6) onto rear pipe (2) then connect it to mid pipe or factory resonator. Tighten clamp just enough to allow for adjustment. NOTE: Steps 10 and 11 are only applicable to Jeep applications with exhaust bezels. For all OTHER applications, skip to step 12.

• Modify your muffler assembly (4) by cutting tips off at weld. Deburr cut pipes when finished.

• Place (x2 ea.) clamps (6) onto tip extension (5) then connect them to muffler assembly. Tighten clamps completely.

• Place clamp (6) onto muffler assembly then connect it to tailpipe. Re-bolt hanger mounts, then tighten clamp just enough to hold parts.

• Adjust exhaust components for fit; maintaining 1/2″ clearance and compensating for suspension, travel and vibration then tighten all clamps.

• Recommended: Secure slip-fit connections with a 1-inch tack weld then spray high-temp paint over each weld to prevent rust and premature corrosion.
