Introduction

To prepare this amp for the sea environment, we went a little too far (no pun intended). To safeguard the electronics, we put a waterproof adhesive called conformal coating on the PCB board. So that water could never enter the amplifier, we later placed watertight silicone covers over the terminals. The bottom plate and the heat sink are both made of rust-resistant metal. The amp’s end panels, internal mounting screws, and hardware are all composed of rust-resistant stainless steel. The amplifier will remain rust-free and work flawlessly even after many years of use! A high power amplifier with five channels and a peak output of 4,000 watts and an RMS power of 980 watts is called the DBM50.

HOW TO STOP AMPLIFIER FROM OVERHEATING

A ventilation addition near your amplifier is a good place to start. Place the amp somewhere else if the current location is a problem. If it can be ventilated but there is still a problem with overheating, you can attach a cooling fan to help the air flow.

HOW TO POWER MARINE AMPLIFIER

The primary power cable needs to be run straight from the amplifier to the battery’s positive connector on your boat. Avoid connecting your wire to a fuse box because most of the time those fuses aren’t rated for the amount of power an amp will require. Use a separate inline fuse on the cable going to the battery.

HOW TO CONNECT AMP WITH SPEAKER

Examine your amplifier and speakers carefully. Choose the appropriate cables for your amplifier and speakers. You’re finished once you’ve connected the cables on the back of your speakers to the amplifier’s rear.

FAQs

Why is this item priced more than twice as much as the one offered on the Rockville website? Is it distinct from that site’s version of the same model?****

As of today, the answer is no. They are the same.

Can I connect a wired bass knob with adjustment?****

Mine included one.

Is this a 24-volt amp?****

Nope. 12VDC.

Do I require a head unit for this amp, or can I connect and use my phone instead?****

This is not a Bluetooth app, to be clear. A head unit is required for it.

Is it possible to use this to power 8 ohm outdoor speakers?****

No. 4 ohm speakers were utilized. Use 2 ohm speakers for the maximum output.

What voltage is this amp rated for—12 or 14?****

12

There is only one set of RCA outputs on my HU. Will this device allow me to feed all 6 speakers using only channels 1 and 2?****

yes

Which size fuse is required to connect the battery to the amp?****

Answer: Uncertain. The 4 channel amp’s instruction manual states that it includes two 35 amp ATC fuses. The book suggests an in-line fuse but doesn’t provide a cost. This amp is substantial. Minimum 8 gauge wire is specified in the instructions. It has two 35 amp circuits, so if you want to crank it all the way up, I’d estimate 70 or 80 amps.

Can I connect this amp to two 6×9 speakers and six 6.5 speakers?****

Yes

Would using this Amp damage my speakers if I have two pairs of 350 watt, 175 watt, and 4 ohm speakers?****

The 4 channel unit’s max power for 4 ohm speakers is 340 watts per channel.

Will channels 5 and 6 effectively drive a 500 watt rms Kicker sub and support 2 ohm bridged?****

It works perfectly on two 600 watt 4-ohm subwoofers bridged to a 2-ohm load.

Is the 8V input voltage accurate?****

In response, that is odd. On every model, I keep seeing 8 volt. The 4 channel I have is operating flawlessly on 12 volts. 12 volts minimum and 14.4 volts maximum are stated in the instruction book.

Why does the amplifier sound so ho?****

many things could be the answer. would use a minimum of a 6 gauge. The 4gauge to 12 volt I’m using It may be necessary to slightly reduce the gains when mounting these amps because they require excellent air flow.

Can I bridge Channels 3 and 4 to run a subwoofer and run 2 speakers on Channel 1 and 2 speakers on Channel 2?****

I use a subwoofer and two 100 watt speakers on each channel.

A marine amplifier can it be wet?****

Because marine amplifiers are waterproof, they can continue to play music even after getting wet.
