Product Usage Instructions

  1. Before beginning assembly, watch the assembly instruction video on EZTRUNK.NET for a better understanding of the process.
  2. Please read the instructions fully before starting the assembly.
  3. Lay the hinges and alignment template on top of the vehicle to get an idea of where you need to clean your top.
  4. Clean the top with the provided cleaner wipes, ensuring all edges are thoroughly cleaned.
  5. Place the bent edge of the alignment template to the seam as shown in the photo. Align the small V-shaped notch to the middle seam on the Freedom Panels. Use paper tape to secure the template in place.
  6. Ensure that the small cut at the edge of the hinge aligns with the seam on the Freedom Panels. Use paper tape to secure the top half of the hinges in place.
  7. Apply full pressure for a minimum of 60 seconds to ensure proper adhesion.
  8. Place the rubber pads approximately 20mm from the short end of the hinges and mark their location with paper tape.
  9. Clean this area with the supplied Adhesion Promoter.
  10. When the roof is clean and completely dry, remove the red protective film from the 3M adhesive tape pads on the rubber pads.
  11. Attach the rubber pads in the proper location and firmly press down over the entire surface, applying full pressure for a minimum of 60 seconds.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION

WARNING
EZFreedom Flip Top Hinge is designed to be installed on a roof with a factory finish, the product has not been tested on after-market finishes. The product warranty is void if the EZFreedom Flip Top Hinge is installed on a roof with any modifications or changes to the finish.

  • Wash and dry the roof prior to installation concentrating on the hinge location area.
  • The ambient temperature should be at least 70F for proper adhesion of the EZFreedom Flip Top Hinge.
  • Please allow the Freedom Top Hinge to cure 24 hours before use.

WARNING
This product is intended to provide added “off-road” convenience and utility to your vehicle. This product is not intended to provide occupant containment or protection in the event of an accident or rollover. Further, “on-road” use may involve an increased risk of serious injury in the event of side-impact accidents. To reduce the risk of these types of injuries: Always wear a seat belt and shoulder harness all vehicle occupants. Keep arms and body inside the vehicle. Drive safely, read and understand all manufacturer’s warnings and product instructions before installation. Periodically check and adjust all latches and fasteners, Failure to do so could result in the doors not latching securely.

  1. Lay hinges and template on top of the vehicle. This is to get an idea of where you will need to clean your top. Put hinges and template to the side and clean the top with the provided cleaner wipes.
  2. Place the bent edge of the template to the seam as shown in the photo. Align a small “v” shaped notch to the middle seam on Freedom Panels. This is the exact location for the template. Use paper tape to secure it in place.
  3. Ensure the small cut at the edge of the hinge aligns with the seam on the Freedom Panels. Use paper tape to secure the top half of hinges in place.
  4. Fold the shorter side of the hinge forward. Clean roof with supplied Adhesion Promoter. When the roof is clean and completely dry, remove the red protective film from the 3M adhesive tape. Flip down the hinge onto the roof. DO NOT PRESS into place UNTIL you are satisfied that the hinge is located in the proper position front to back and side to side. Checking alignment with template & side edge cuts. The adhesive is pressure-sensitive and can be adjusted or removed prior to applying pressure. Once the Freedom Hinge is in the proper location, firmly press down over the entire area, including all edges. Apply full pressure for a minimum of 60 seconds.
  5. Repeat the same steps for the Longer-Top Half of Freedom Hinge. Fold the hinge forward. Clean roof with supplied Adhesion Promoter. When the roof is clean and completely dry, remove the red protective film from the 3M adhesive tape. Flip down the hinge onto the roof. DO NOT PRESS into place UNTIL you are satisfied that the hinge is located in the proper position front to back and side to side. Checking alignment with template & side edge cuts. The adhesive is pressure-sensitive and can be adjusted or removed prior to applying pressure. Once the Freedom Hinge is in the proper location, firmly press down over the entire area, including all edges. Apply full pressure for a minimum of 60 seconds.
  6. Place the rubber pads approximately 20″ from the short end of the hinges, and mark the location with paper tape. Clean this area with the supplied Adhesion Promoter. When the roof is clean and completely dry, remove the red protective film from the 3M adhesive tape pads. Attach rubber pads in the proper location, and firmly press down over the entire area, including all edges. Apply full pressure for a minimum of 60 seconds.
  7. Attach the front door latch to the back of the door with (2) M8x20mm bolts, (2) a flat washer, and (2) a lock nut. DO NOT FULLY TIGHTEN hardware. Tap the washer and nut on the wrench to easily access the back of the door locking bracket.
  8. Attach the front door latch to the back of the door with (2) M8x20mm bolts, (2) flat washer, and (2) lock nut. DO NOT FULLY TIGHTEN hardware. Tap the washer and nut on the wrench to easily access the back of the door locking bracket.
  9. Attach the front door latch to the back of the door with (2) M8x20mm bolts, (2) a flat washer, and (2) a lock nut. DO NOT FULLY TIGHTEN hardware. Tap the washer and nut on the wrench to easily access the back of the door locking bracket.
  10. Place the JKU Lock kit to the roof from the rear edge distance of around 12.2 inches. Use Paper tapes to mark the locations and use Adhesion Promoter to clean the roof and dry it in 5 mins.
  11. Completed install Lock kit.
  12. Watch your fingers when you lock down the Freedom Top.
  13. Use short bolts to attach the short end of the hinge to the rooftop. Use long bolts to attach the long end of the hinge to the Freedom Panels. (these bolts will not allow water penetration or leakage into the roof or Freedom Panels). May require (2) person assembly.
