This sign is intended to alert the user that severe personal injury or substantial property damage can result if the device is not operated as requested.
ATTENTION: Warning of a danger spot or dangerous situation. This sign is intended to alert the user that minor personal injury or material damage can result, if the device is not operated as requested.
CAUTION: Do not touch by hands in case of electromagnetic discharge (ESD).
Indicates the possible consequences of touching electrostatically sensitive components.
Wear ESD protective equipment such as a wrist strap when working near microchips on PCBA to avoid damages to sensitive electronics.
Indicates important texts, notes or tips.

Environment

  • Do not install or use the charger near explosive, corrosive or flammable materials, chemicals or vapours.
  • The charger may only be installed on non-combustible surfaces such as concrete, and at least 120cm above the floor.

 Installation

  • The device may only be installed, adjusted and serviced by qualified persons familiar with the construction and operation of this type of electrical equipment. Failure to observe this precaution can result in serious injury or even death.
  • The charger must be installed and commissioned by qualified personnel.
  • Incorrect installation and testing of the charger can possibly lead to damage. No liability is accepted for the resulting damage
  • Ensure that the charging cable is correctly positioned during the charging process and cannot be stepped on, damaged or stressed.
  • Check wire diameter according to local electrical requirements.
  • Main loop terminal of the charging station should be firmly connected with the wiring ends; otherwise, damage to property may result.
  • Bare parts of wiring ends of electrical cables must be wrapped with insulating tape; otherwise, hazardous fire and property loss may result.
  • Do not attempt to open, disassemble, repair, tamper with or modify the device. If you have any questions or need repairs, contact our customer service department.

Operation

  • Strictly forbidden for minors or persons of restricted capacity to approach the charging station to avoid injury.
  • Do not use the charger if it is defective or has visible damage
  • Do not use the charger when you are in the vehicle.
  • Do not use the charger when exposed to heavy rain, snow or inclement weather.
  • Do not change or remove housing marks or stamps of the MID meter. Doing so will violate the warranty and MID approval of the meter.
  • At any time, in case of any emergency (such as fire, smoke, abnormal noise, water inflow, etc.), on the premise of ensuring personal safety, please press the red “emergency stop” button of the charging station, and immediately stay away from the charging station. And then contact the supplier.
  • It is strictly prohibited to use the charging station when the charging adapter or charging cables are defective, cracked, worn, broken or the charging cables is exposed. If you find any, please contact the supplier in time.
  • EV can only be charged with the engine off and stationary

Maintenance

  • It is recommended that routine safety inspection visits to charging station be conducted at least once a week.
  • Keep the charging connector clean and dry and wipe with a clean, dry cloth if soiled.
  • The RCBO must be tested monthly. This is possible via the TEST button on the RCBO.
    If the RCBO switches off, the test is successful and the lever can be moved back into position.

The Charging mode of EMN series product is Mode 3
Mode 3 is a method for the connection of an EV to an AC EV supply equipment permanently connected to an AC supply network, with a control pilot function that extends from the AC EV supply equipment to the EV.

According to EN 17186 requirement, this document lays down harmonized identifiers for power supply for electric road vehicles. The requirements in this standard are to complement the informational needs of users regarding the compatibility between the EV charging stations, the cable assemblies and the vehicles that are placed on the market. The identifier is visualized at EV charging stations, on vehicles, on cable assemblies and in consumer manuals as described.

Product information

General
With the 3-phase EM2GO EV charging station with two type 2 sockets, two e-vehicles can be charged safely and quickly at the same time. Charging cables can be permanently locked to allow the charging station to be used as a cable variant. The EM2GO charging station with intelligent control has a variety of communication interfaces such as Ethernet, WiFi and 4G for secure and fast transmission via EDGE, 3G or 4G. The charging station has an integrated local load management for up to 16 charging stations to share the available power. Furthermore, the OCPP 1.6-J and ModBus TCP standards are supported for monitoring and control with, for example, a central management system (backend) or a photovoltaic system. Two calibrated energy meters (MID) integrated into the charging station, whose values canalso be read directly at the charging station for control purposes, enable tamper-proof and kilowatt- hour-accurate billing. Furthermore, the charging station has a five-inch touchscreen display that provides information about the status of the charging points, the charging status, as well as charging voltage, current and power. An RFID reader for authentication is also available. The charging station offers maximum safety thanks to the built-in RCBO and the all-current sensitive residual current sensors (RCMU) to protect against fault currents and overload. Furthermore, the charging station offers protection against over/under voltage, short circuits. An LED strip indicates the status of the charging station and informs about the proper charging process. Two cylinder locks allow for easy installation and protect against theft.

Charging station overview

Important Note
According to § 19 German NAV, the operation of charging devices for electric vehicles must be reported to the responsible electricity provider before use (from 11kW) and before installation (from 22kW). This can also be done by the commissioned electrician.

Please contact your electricity provider for more information. Please observe the local regulations.

Installation and operation

Installation
Mounting the metal holder onto the wall
Note:
It is suggested that the charging station should be installed in a place with good ventilation, no direct sunlight and shelter from wind and rain. In order to ensure good ventilation condition, you should mount the charging station vertically and leave enough space.

Minimum space requirements for wall mounting
Follow below steps to install the charging station on the wall:

  1. Remove the metal holder from the charging station by loosening the two lower screws of the metal holder and removing it.
  2. Drill 4 mounting holes with a diameter of 10 mm and a depth of 70 mm at a distance of 255 mm in width and 260 mm in height. Use side holes of the metal bracket (see fig. 5-2).
  3. Insert the dowels into the wall.
  4. Place the metal bracket on the wall and tighten the screws to secure the metal bracket.
  5. Screw in the other screws and tighten all screws to fix the metal holder.

Caution

Always wear ESD protective equipment when working near microchips to avoid damages to sensitive electronics.
Risk of electric shock
Make sure that the supply cable is not connected to the mains when working on the charging station!
Attach and fix the charging station onto the wall

  1. With the metal holder attached to the wall, hang the charging station on the metal plate on the wall. Make sure that the top two bolts of the charging station hang correctly on the wall bracket.
  2. Screw the two M4x10 screws on the underside of the metal plate so that it is firmly attached to the charging station.


Fix the charging station on the wall
Warning
A damaged charging station must not be installed under any circumstances. In case of damage, please inform your dealer immediately. The installation and wiring must be carried out by a specialist company.
Risk of electric shock
Make sure that the supply cable is not connected to the mains when working on the charging station!
Connect the supply cable to the charging station

  1. Open the covers of the two locks on the right side of the charging station and unlock the locks with the keys.
  2. Open the door of the charging station.
  3. Guide the supply cable through the rubber seal.
  4. Remove approx. 12 mm of insulation from the conductors of the supply cable. Multi-core conductors should be fitted with wire end ferrules in advance to ensure a secure connection
  5. Connect the wires of the supply cable to the terminal block for PE (green-yellow) and to the RCBO for L1 [R] (brown), L2 [S] (black), L3 [T] (grey), N (blue) and screw tight (approx. 4Nm).
  6. Switch on the charging station’s RCBO by pushing the lever to the right.
  7. Close the door of the charging station and lock it with the two locks.
  8. Close the covers of the two locks.
  9. Close the rubber seal of the supply cable.

Note: For 2x11kW (32A) charging stations we recommend the use of 6mm² conductors with copper core. For 2x22kW (64A) charging stations we recommend the use of 16mm² conductors with copper core.
The charging station is equipped with an RCBO, as well as built-in all-current sensitive residual current monitoring units (RCMU).

Connecting the supply and Ethernet cables

RCBO

The charging station has a residual current operated circuit-breaker with overcurrent protection. This protects the charging station against residual currents (type A AC 60mA) and overcurrent.
Note: The RCBO must be tested monthly. To conduct the test, press the TEST button on the RCBO. If the RCBO switches off, the test is successful and the lever can be moved back into position.

Ethernet connection
You can connect an Ethernet cable to the charging station by opening the rubber seal and feeding Ethernet cables into the housing. The RJ45 plug is connected at the top left of the charging station (see Fig. 5-6).

The Ethernet connection is used for the OCPP backend and ModBus TCP communication.

Inserting the SIM card

  1. Disconnect the charging station from the mains.
  2. Open the door of the charging station (see section 5.1.3).
  3. Open the micro-SIM holder by gently pushing the metal holder downwards.
  4. Insert the micro-SIM card with the chip facing downwards (see Fig. 5-3).
  5. Close the SIM holder by gently pushing the metal holder upwards.
  6. Close the door of the charging station (see section 5.1.3).

Note: Make sure you deactivate the PIN of the SIM card.

Power on
After the charging station has been properly installed and the power supply has been switched on, the charging station switches to standby mode.

The charging station is equipped with a 5-inch touch screen. The following information is displayed after switching on. Touching the charging point (A or B) displays more information.

If no vehicle is connected and an RFID card is held in front of the RFID card reader, the charging point A or B can be selected on the touch screen to start a charging process.

MID Meter
The charging station is equipped with an MID (Measuring Instruments Directive) approved electricity meter with accuracy class B for each charging point that complies with the EN 50470-1 and EN 50740-3 standard.
The meter measures the energy consumption for charging transactions to get reliable results for payments and other applications. The display of the meter can be seen from the front panel of the charging station showing information such as the total energy (kWh) and apparent power (kW)
Note: MID meters must be recalibrated regularly by a state-approved inspection body. In Germany, this is the case 8 years after the meter has been placed on the market, which is indicated by the metrology marking on the meter next to the CE marking. For example, “M22” stands for the year 2022.

Charge the vehicle
Note: The vehicle to be loaded must be parked, switched off and the parking brake applied.

  1. First connect your type 2 charging cable to the type 2 socket of the charging station and then to the charging port of your vehicle.
  2. Hold an RFID card in front of the RFID card reader.
  3. The display shows that it has recognized the RFID card. The type 2 charging cable is locked by the charging station and the vehicle. The charging process will start.
  4. By touching the display of the respective charging point (A or B) on the touch screen, further information appears during a charging process.
  5. To end the charging process, hold the RFID card in front of the RFID card reader again. After the charging process is complete, pull the type 2 plug out of the vehicle’s charging port. Remove the type 2cable from the charging station and put the protective cap back on the type 2 cable. If you cannot pull the plug out of the vehicle, press the vehicle’s release button.
  6. Press the emergency stop button to end the charging process immediately in an emergency. Do not use the emergency stop button to end a charging process regularly, as this can damage the vehicle’s sensitive charging electronics.

Note: By default, the charging station accepts all RFID cards to start and stop a charging process.
Various options for authorisation are available through the web interface.

Communication
The charging station has the following interfaces for communication: WiFi, Ethernet and 4G. A connection to an OCPP backend can be established using the WiFi, Ethernet or 4G interface. Furthermore, it is possible to control the charging station via ModBus TCP.
Selection of the network interface

  1. Disconnect the charging station from the mains.
  2. Open the door of the charging station (see section 5.1.3).
  3. Locate the DIP switches N1 and N2 (see Fig. 5-3).
  4. Set the desired network interface.

Note: By default, the charging station is set to “Ethernet static IP”. The value of the DIP switches can be bypassed via the web interface.

Web interface
The charging station has an integrated web interface through which various parameters can be set. The web interface can be accessed via the Ethernet connection. By default, the charging station has the IP address 192.168.1.253.

  1. Connect an ethernet cable to the charging station and a computer (see section 5.1.4).

  2. Set the network connection to which you have connected the network cable the static IP address 192.168.1.100.
    If you are using Windows as the operating system, you can set the IP address as follows:

  3. Open the “Network Connections” of the Control Panel via the Start menu or by executing the command “ncpa.cpl”.

  4. Locate the network connection to which the network cable is connected and open the properties of this connection.

  5. Open the properties of the “Internet Protocol, Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)”.

  6. Select the option “Use the following IP address” and enter the value “192.168.1.100” in the field “IP address” and the value “255.255.255.0” in the field “Subnet mask” and accept the setting by clicking on “OK” in both dialogue windows.

  7. Open a web browser and enter the address http://192.168.1.253/ in the address bar. The login screen is displayed.

  8. Enter the user name and password and click on “Login”. By default, the user name is “root” and the password is “root@123456”.

  9. The web interface of the EV charger is displayed.


Logging on to the web interface
Note: The default password is “root@123456”. We recommend that you change this for security reasons.
Details on the configuration options in the web interface can be found on the Internet at www.EM2GO.de.

Local load management
Up to 16 charging stations can be connected by cable via Ethernet or up to 8 charging stations wirelessly via WiFi for local load management, sharing the available power of the electricity grid (for the charging stations).

Connection via Ethernet cable with DHCP:
If the network switch is connected to your existing network and a DHCP server is present in the network, proceed as follows.

  1. To use local load management, connect up to 16 charging stations by cable via Ethernet to a network switch or router (see section 5.1.4 and Fig. 6-2 ).
  2. Set the DIP switch (see section 6.3.1 ) of all charging stations to “Ethernet DHCP” so that the charging stations receive dynamic IP addresses from the DHCP server.
  3. Switch on all charging stations.
  4. Determine the IP addresses assigned by the DHCP server either via the web interface of your router or with an IP scanner application.

Connection via Ethernet cable with static IP addresses:
If the network switch is not connected to any other network or there is no DHCP server, proceed as follows.

  1. To use local load management, connect up to 16 charging stations by cable via Ethernet to a network switch or router (see section 5.1.4 and Fig. 6-2).
  2. Connect a computer to the network and set its IP address to 192.168.1.100 (see section 6.3.2).
  3. Set the DIP switch (see section 6.3.1 ) of all charging stations to “Ethernet Static”.
  4. Switch on the first charging station.
  5. Open the web interface of the first charging station (see section 6.3.2) and click on “Configuration”.
  6. Select the option “Network Address” under “Value Property” and enter the IP address for the first charging station in the “value” field. Recommendation: 192.168.1.11.
  7. Click on the “Setting” button to apply the setting.
  8. Restart the charging station by clicking the “Reset” button under “System” in the “Reset Device” area.
  9. Repeat the steps for all following charging stations. Always set the last part of the IP address one higher:
    1st charging station: 192.168.1.11
    2nd charging station: 192.168.1.12
    3rd charging station: 192.168.1.13
    4th charging station: 192.168.1.14

Connection via WiFi:
To connect the charging stations to an existing Wi-Fi network, proceed as follows.

  1. Open the web interface of the first charging station (see section 6.3.2) and click on “Network”.

  2. Select the option “WIFI” under “Network ConfiguredI face” , set the network name of your WiFi network in the “SSID” field and the password of your WLAN network in the “Password” field and click on the “Setting” button.

  3. Restart the charging station by clicking the “Reset” button under “System” in the “Reset Device” section.

  4. Repeat the steps for all subsequent charging stations.

  5. Determine the IP addresses assigned by the WiFi router or DHCP server either via the web interface of your router or with an IP scanner application.

  6. Once the charging stations are connected, open the web interface of the first charging station that acts as the master.

  7. Click on “Configuration”.

  8. In the “Boolean Property” area, select the option “Group Load Balance Leader Role Enable” , set the value to “true” and confirm the setting by clicking on the “Setting” button.

  9. Under “Value property” , select the option “Group Load Balance Grid Fuse Current” and enter the maximum available current for all charging stations together in the “value” field. For example, if you have 63 amps available for 5 charging stations, enter the value “63” in the field. The available current is then divided among the charging stations.
    Example: If you have five charging stations and they all charge at the same time, the current is set to 12 amps for all five stations.

  10. Restart the charging station by clicking the “Reset” button under “System” in the “Reset Device” area.

  11. All charging stations that are on the same network automatically receive the configuration from the master charging station and are controlled accordingly.

OCPP
The charging station supports OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) JSON 1.6 for communication between charging stations and a central management system (backend). Before OCPP can be used, the endpoint URL must be programmed into the charging station. To do this, open the web interface of the charging station (see
section 6.3.2), click on “Configuration” and select the option “Csms Web socket Ur l” under “Value
Property”. Enter the endpoint URL in the “value” field and confirm by clicking on the “Setting” button.

Restart the charging station by clicking the “Reset” button under “System” in the “Reset Device” area.

Note: The charging stations are connected to the EM2GO backend for maintenance purposes when delivered.

Mod Bus TCP
The charging station supports the ModBus TCP communication protocol and acts as a slave (server) in the network. To connect the charging station via ModBus TCP, a master (client) application must be used. Typical applications are load management and monitoring of charging stations. Load management allows you to control the power that the vehicle draws before and during a charge. For more information on ModBus TCP support, visit : www.EM2GO.de.

RFID cards
The charging station is supplied with three RFID cards. By default, the charging station accepts all RFID cards to start and stop a charging process.

To prevent charging processes with unknown RFID cards in the offline state, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the web interface of the charging station (see section 6.3.2).
  2. Click on “Configuration”, select the option “AllowOfflineTxForUnknownId” in the “Boolean
    Property” area, set the value to “false” and confirm by clicking on the “Setting” button.

Note: The charging station is in offline mode when not connected to an OCPP backend.
To set an RFID card as a master and also be able to use it in the offline state, proceed as follows:

  1. Open the web interface of the charging station (see section 6.3.2).
  2. Click on “Configuration”, select the option “Supper Rfid CardI dTag” in the “Value Property ” area, enter the tag ID of the RFID card in the “value” field and confirm by clicking on the “Setting” button.

Note: If you do not know the tag ID of an RFID card, hold the RFID card in front of the RFID card reader of the charging station and look in the web interface in the “Logger” area.

Emergency stop button
Only press the emergency stop button during charging process in an emergency. Charging will stop immediately.
Note: Do not press the emergency stop button to end a normal charging process.

Troubleshooting, Maintenance and Warranty

Troubleshooting

The charging station is automatically protected in the event of the fault. The fault information and handling methods are as follows.

LCD is off
  • Check the power supply and distribution;
  • Check the circuit breakers and RCDs and turn them on.
  • Check the electrical wiring of the charging station and sub-distribution

CP failure|

  • Check the connection of the charging plug and EV socket.
  • Unplug the charging plug and plug it back in.

Emergency stop|

  • Check if charging station is working properly and release emergency stop button by turning it around.

Input under voltage|

  • Check that the input cable is reliably connected.
  • Make sure that the input voltage of each phase is correct.

Input overvoltage|

  • Check that the input cable is reliably connected.
  • Make sure that the input voltage of each phase is correct.

Overtemperature|

  • Check if the charging station is covered or installed in an environment with high temperatures.

Meter failure|

  • Power off and restart the device.

Residual current detected|

  • Check whether the charging adapter and its cable are damaged or wet.
    Recover after pulling out the adapter. Check charging plug/socket and cable for damage and moisture.l Unplug the charging plug and plug it back in.

Power loss|

  • Check charging plug/socket and cable for damage.

Overcurrent|

  • Check that the charging plug is connected correctly.
  • Check the function of the vehicle on-board charger.
  • Check the setting of the output current.

EV com timeout|

  • Unplug the charging connector and plug it back in.

EV not supported|

  • This EV does not meet IEC standards and cannot be charged.

Contactor error|

  • The device is damaged and must be sent to the dealer for repair.

RCMU error|

  • The device is damaged and must be sent to the dealer for repair.

Ground fault|

  • The charging station is not grounded or not grounded correctly; the input power cable must be checked.

Ground residual current detected|

  • Check input and output wiring.

  • Check whether the charging adapter and its cable are damaged or wet.
    Recover after pulling out the adapter. Check charging plug/socket and cable for damage and moisture.

  • Restart the charger.

Maintenance
To ensure the long-term stable operation of the equipment, please maintain the equipment regularly according to the operating environment.

a) The equipment is maintained by professionals.
b) Check whether the equipment is well grounded and safe.
c) Check whether there are potential safety hazards around the charging pile, such as whether there are high temperature, corrosion or inflammable and explosive articles close to the charging station.
d) Check whether the join point of the input terminal is in good contact and whether there is any abnormality. Check whether other terminal points are loose.

Cleaning
Regularly check the surface of the charging station for damage. Clean the housing only a clean and damp soft cloth of cotton or microfibre. Avoid cleaning with or other liquids than water or mild soaps. Special cleaners for plastics may be used. Do not clean the housing with a dry cloth as this causes scratches on the front panel.
Make sure that no water gets near the connections.

Note: The front panel is made of plastic material and contains high glossy surfaces that are very sensitive to scratches. Be careful when cleaning these parts as scratches may occur.

Warranty
The warranty period for this charging station is two years.

The warranty expires if:

  • No proof of purchase can be provided.
  • Exceed the warranty period specified by the manufacturer.
  • The instructions for use, maintenance and storage are not followed.
  • Damage or malfunctions are caused by the ingress of foreign bodies.
  • In case of repair, disassembly or modification by unauthorized persons.
  • Damage caused by force majeure (such as lightning, overvoltage, earthquake, fire, flood, etc.).
  • Damage and malfunctions are caused by other avoidable external factors.
  • Damage and malfunctions are caused by improper use of the equipment, such as the ingress of water or other liquids.
  • Damage and malfunction are caused by the mains power supply and a voltage that is not specified for use with the charger.
