Attention: This document is intended to serve as a quick reference for initial set-up. It is recommended that the user read the entire instruction manual for complete and proper installation and usage.
STEP 1 – CONNECTING THE DVR

Mount and install all necessary cameras and external devices. Refer to their individual manuals for additional information.

The DVR supports the following analog signals
- HD-Analog
- HD-TVI
- Analog signal up to 960H
The DVR supports cameras up to 5MP in resolution. Please refer to the product’s data sheet and full manual for recording specifications per product.

The DVR supports automatic signal detection. This means you do not have to perform any additional steps to assign signals to each BNC input. The DVR will detect the proper signal automatically.

Place the DVR in its final position. See installation tips below.

Connect all necessary cables to the DVR.

Once all additional devices have been properly connected to the DVR, connect the DVR to an appropriate power supply. The DVR will boot up automatically.
SAFETY TIPS
- Make sure the cameras and the monitors are properly connected to the DVR.
- The DVR should be placed in a dust and moisture free environment. It must never be directly exposed to sunlight. A room temperature is highly recommended to reduce the chance of overheating, (room temperature is considered as 68~78°F), which may cause the DVR to become unstable.
- During the boot up process, the DVR should not be interrupted by pressing any buttons on the mouse. Do not unplug the power adapter or turn the DVR off during the boot up process.
- A UPS (uninterrupted power supply) is highly recommended to prevent damage to theDVR during a power outage
NOTE: HD Monitor output and VGA output cannot be used at the same time for dual monitoring.
STEP 2 – POWERING UP THE DVR
- When the DVR boots up, it will be in protective mode. This means you will not be able to access the DVR’s setup menu until you login.
- To unlock the DVR, right-click anywhere on the screen. The login screen will appear. (Default Username / Password: admin / no password)
- When the DVR boots up for the first time, you will be guided through the Startup Wizard.
To prevent the DVR from overheating, do not operate it in an area that exceeds the maximum recommended ambient temperature of 104°F (40°C). To prevent airflow restriction, allow at least 3 inches (7.6 cm) of clearance around the ventilation openings.
STEP 3 – STARTUP WIZARD
- . Follow the startup wizard’s instructions to setup the DVR’s basic settings, including language, date/time and network. You may not need to change any default settings to properly set up your system. At any time, you can skip steps, go back, or exit the wizard and setup the DVR manually.
- Set the DVR’s network settings to match your network’s requirements. It is recommended to set the network type to “AUTO CONN.” and let the DVR auto-detect the network’s settings. Then, change the type to static. Please contact your network administrator for additional information. Press “APPLY” to save and “NEXT” to move to the next step. Adjust the DDNS settings as needed, or refer to the PathFinder™ option instead after initial setup. See STEP 6 – MOBILE APP REMOTE MONITORING.
- If this is your first time powering up the DVR, You are encouraged to use the setup wizard. If you prefer to manually go through the DVR’s settings to your preference, you can exit the setup wizard at any time
STEP 4 – UTC AND PTZ CAMERA CONTROL
The DVR supports complete camera control via the coaxial connection (UTC). There is no need for an additional RS485 connection between the camera and the DVR in order to control the camera. This feature must also be supported on the camera’s sid
To add a UTC or PTZ camera

Right-click anywhere on the screen and go to “MENU” > “DECIVE” > “PTZ”

Camera type will be auto-detected and displayed under the camera tab. Protocol should match the camera type detected.
- HD-A(C) -> legacy HD-Analog signal type camera.
- HD-A/HD-TVI -> HD-Analog and HD-TVI signal type camera.
- HD-TVI-> HD-TVI signal type camera

HD-TVI-> HD-TVI signal type camera (DW default signal type).
NOTE: If you are connecting a camera via UTC protocol, baudrate and address settings will be disabled. -
To control the camera’s menu and settings, press the “PROGRAM” button under the “CONTROL”. See user manual for more information.
STEP 5 – MONITOR YOUR SYSTEM

Navigation – use the included USB mouse to navigate around the DVR’s monitoring and Setup pages.
- To access the menu bar – move the mouse’s cursor to the bottom of the display area to show the menu bar. You can also display it constantly by pressing the pin icon on the right sid

To access the quick menu options, right-click anywhere on the screen.
This will take you to the quick menu options, which include- “DISPLAY MODE” Options
- “DIGITAL ZOOM”, “PTZ” control and “FREEZE” image (on supported cameras)
- “ADD BOOKMARK” video
- Instant “PLAYBACK”, “SEARCH” and “THUMBNAIL SEARCH”
- Recording status and analysis system monitoring
- Access to the “HEALTH CHECK” and open the main “MENU”.

STEP 6 – MOBILE APP REMOTE MONITORING
You can monitor your system from DW’s Mobile Plus™ app with no need for
complicated port forwarding! To enable the QR code on your DVR
- Right-click anywhere on the DVR’s screen and go to “MENU” > “NETWORK” > “PATHFINDER™”
- Check the box next to ‘USE PATHFINDER’. Click Save.
- A mobile access QR code will appear on the right side of the screen. Status at the bottom of the screen should say “PATHFINDER™ SERVICE ACTIVATED”.
To view the DVR on your mobile app
- Go to the Google Play Store or Apple App store and download the latest DW Mobile Plus™ app.
- To add a new VMAX® A1 Plus™ device- Launch the DW Mobile Plus™ application on your Android® or Apple® smart-phone or tablet.
- Go to the Site menu to register a new site with the QR code scan.
- Press QR icon next to the Host field.
- Move the camera angle to QR code on DVR. The camera will capture the QR code automatically once all four corners of the code are registered in the camera’s frame properly.
- Once the camera registers the QR code from the DVR, the IP address field will show the DVR’s MAC address information.
- Complete the new device’s registration information by adding the device name, port number, user-name and password. Select “SAVE” to complete the registration.
- The new site will appear in your sites list.

Date/Time
You can see the system date and time automatically or manually. You can also
set the time display mode.
GPS time
After receiving the time from GPS, it sets the system date and time
automatically.
Note
To manually set the date and time, uncheck GPS time, press the current date
and time below GPS time, and then set the date and time.
Time Format
Change the system time display format.
Keyboard
You can change the keyboard type for each language to use when entering the
text.
Configuring the display settings
You can change the system display settings such as display brightness.
- On the All Menus screen, Press [SETUP] > [Display]. The Display settings screen appears.
- Configure the settings required.
Note
If you press Display Off at the top of the screen, the screen is switched off.
To switch the screen back on, press the screen or briefly press the power
button.
Brightness
You can set the system brightness to be adjusted according to the ambient
lighting condition to stay bright or dimmed. You can also set to automatically
adjust the display brightness dependig on the cluster illumination.
Note
The screen may differ depending on the vehicle model and specifications.
Dimming
- Auto-illumination : The display brightness is automatically adjusted based on the surrounding environment.
- Daylight : The display brightness is adjusted to ensure to ensure that items are easier to see when the surronding area is bright.
- Night : The brightness is adjusted to prevent glare when the surronding area is dark.
Brightness
- Daylight : You can set the display brightness when Daylight is selected under Mode. Uncheck Link to Cluster Illumination Control and then set to the desired brightness.
- Night : You can set the display brightness when Night is selected under Mode. Uncheck Link
Note
To reset all screen brightness settings to the default values, press Default.
Screensaver
You can select the items to display on the screen saver in standby mode.
Analog
Displays the analog clock on the system screen saver.
Digital
Displays the digital clock on the system screen saver.
None
Displays nothing on the system screen saver.
Home screen
You can rearrange the icons displayed on the All screen.
Edit Home icons
You can edit the arrangement of home icons.
Split screen
You can specify the items to display on the Split Screen.
Note
- The screen may differ depending on the vehicle model and specifications.
- This option is only available when the display supports Split Screen.
Media Change Notifications
You can set to briefly display media information at the top of screen while
playing the next item when you move from the media player screen to another.
Extend rear camera use
You can set to display the rear camera display even when you change the shift
positon other then “R” (Reverse) after reversing.
Note
When you shift to “P” (Park) or drive at a predetermined sped or faster, the
rear view display disappears to display the previous screen.
Default
This menu is used to reset all display settings. Press [SETUP] > [Display] >
[Default] > [Yes].
Precautions for Safety

The lightning flash with the arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle
is intended to alert the user about the presence of uninsulated dangerous
voltage within the product’s enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to
constitute a risk of electric shock.
The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the
user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing)
instructions in the literature accompanying the appliance.
Always operate the vehicle in a safe manner. Do not become distracted by the
vehicle while driving and always be fully aware of all driving conditions. Do
not change settings or any functions. Pull over in a safe and legal manner
before attempting such operations.
To promote safety, certain functions are disabled unless the parking brake is
on.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove the cover or back of this product. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this product to dripping or splash ing water, rain, or moisture.
When driving your vehicle, be sure to keep the volume of the unit low enough to allow you to hear sounds coming from the outside.
Do not drop it and avoid heavy impacts at anytime.
The driver should not watch the monitor while driving. If the driver watches the monitor while driving, it may lead to carelessness and cause an accident.
WARNING
- Don’t use a mobile phone when you are driving. You must stop at a safe place to use a mobile phone.
- Do not disassemble, assemble, or modify the AV system. Such acts could result in accidents, fire, or electric shock.
- Using phone features while driving may distract drivers from paying attention to traffic conditions and result in traffic accidents. Use phone features only after the vehicle has been parked.
- Heed caution not to spill water or introduce foreign objects into the device. Such acts could lead to smoke, fire, or product malfunction.
- Please refrain from use if the screen is blank or no sound can be heard as these signs may indicate product malfunction. Continued use in such conditions could lead to accidents (fires, electric shock) or product malfunctions.
- Do not touch the antenna during thunder or lightening as such acts may lead to lightning induced electric shock.
- Do not stop or park in parking-restricted areas to operate the product. Such acts could lead to traffic accidents.
- The video screen will not operate when the vehicle is in motion. For your safety, first park the vehicle to watch or view the screen.
- Some Non-video features may also not operate when the vehicle is in motion. These features will operate only when the vehicle has been parked.
Operation is subject to the following two conditions
- This device may not cause harmful interference, and
- this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
CAUTION
- Do not keep the AV system running with the engine stopped. Doing so may discharge the vehicle battery. When you use the AV system, always keep the engine running.
- When the driver wants to operate AV system, first park the vehicle in a safe location and set the parking brake. Operating the system while driving can distract the driver and may result in a serious accident.
- Do not disassemble or modify this system. If you do, it may result in accidents, fire, or electrical shock.
- Some states/provinces may have laws limiting the use of video screens while driving. Use the system only where it is legal to do so.
- Do not use your phone in private mode when you are driving. You must stop at a safe location to use it.
General Information
About USB
- Take precautions regarding static electricity when connecting/disconnecting external USB devices.
- Encoded MP3 Players will not be recognised when connected as an external device.
- When connecting an external USB device, the device may not properly recognise the USB in some states.
- USB devices formatted as FAT16/32, exFAT or NTFS are supported.
- Some USB devices may not be supported due to compatibility issues.
- Avoid contact between the USB connector and bodily parts/foreign objects.
- Repeated connecting/disconnecting of USB devices within short periods of time may result in product malfunction.
- The amount of time required to recognise the external USB device may differ depending on the type, size or file formats stored on the USB. Such differences in required time are not indications of malfunction.
- The device may not recognise the USB device if separately purchased USB hubs and extension cables are being used. Connect the USB directly with the media terminal of the vehicle.
- When application programmes are installed to specific USB, files may not properly play.
- The device may not operate normally if MP3 Players, mobile phones, digital cameras or other 䠐 When application programmes are installed to specific USB, files may not properly play.
- The device may not operate normally if MP3 Players, mobile phones, digital cameras or other
- Charging through the USB may not work for some mobile devices.
- The device may not support normal operation when using a USB memory type other than
Metal Cover Type USB Memory.
- The device may not support normal operation when using formats such as HDD Type, CF or SD Memory.
- The device will not support files locked by DRM (Digital Rights Management).
- USB memory sticks used by connecting an Adaptor (SD Type or CF Type) may not be properly recognised.

Before thinking there is a product defect
- Errors which occur during the operation or installation of the device may be mistaken as a malfunction of the actual device.
- If you are having problems with the device, try the suggestions listed below.
- If the problems persist, contact your authorised HYUNDAI dealer.
Problem: There are small red, blue, or green dots on the screen.
Possible Cause : Because the LCD is manufactured with technology
requiring high point density, a pixel or lighting deficiency may occur within
0.01% of total pixels.
Problem: The sound or image is not working.
Possible Caus
- Has the Switch for the vehicle been turned to [ACC] or [ON]?
- Has the SYSTEM been turned OFF?
Problem: The screen is being displayed but sound is not working.
Possible Cause
- Has the volume been set to a low level?
- Has the volume been muted?
Problem: When the power is turned on, the corners of the screen are dark.
Possible Cause
- The display appearing somewhat dark after prolonged periods of use is normal with LCD panels. It is not a malfunction.
- If the screen is very dark, contact your nearest dealer for assistance.
Problem: Sound is working from only one speaker.
Possible Cause : Are the positions of Fader or Balance sound controls
adjusted to only one side?
Problem: When turning power on, the most recent mode screen is not displayed.
Possible Cause
- Within modes that play files by reading external sources, such as discs, USB, or Bluetooth® streaming mode, the most recently played mode screen prior to turning off power may not properly load.
- If there is no disc or the corresponding device is not connected, the mode operated prior to the most recent mode will operate.
- If the previous mode still cannot be properly played, the mode operated prior to that will operate.
Troubleshooting
Problem: The power does not turn on.

Possible Cause: The fuse is disconnected.

- Possible Cause: The vehicle battery is low.
- Countermeasure: Charge the battery if the problem persists, contact your point of purchase or service center.
Problem: Sound does not work.

Countermeasure: Adjust the volume level.

Countermeasure: The sound will not work when the device is fast-forwarding, rewinding, scanning, or playing in slow mode.
Problem: The image colour/tone quality is low.
- Possible Cause : The brightness, saturation, and contrast levels are not set properly.
- Countermeasure: Properly adjust the brightness, saturation, and contrast levels through Display Setup.
Problem: The USB does not work.

Possible Cause : USB memory is damaged.

Countermeasure : Please use after formatting the USB into FAT16/32, exFAT or NTFS format.

Possible Cause : USB memory has been contaminated.

Countermeasure : Remove any foreign substances on the contact surface of the USB memory and media terminal.

Possible Cause: A separately purchased USB HUB is being used.

Countermeasure : Directly connect the USB memory with the media terminal on the vehicle.

Possible Cause : A USB extension cable is being used.
