Safety Precautions

This product complies with the requirements of the following directives of the European Union for CE conformity: 2014/30/EU (electromagnetic compatibility), 2014/35/EU (low voltage), 2011/65/EU (RoHS). Pollution degree 2.

To ensure safe operation of the equipment the following safety precautions must be observed.
Damages resulting from failure to observe these safety precautions are exempt from any legal claims whatever.

  • Do not subject the equipment to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures
  • Allow the equipment to stabilize at room temperature before taking up measurement (important for exact measurements)
  • Comply with the warning labels and other info on the equipment
  • Do not operate the equipment near strong magnetic fields (motors, transformer, etc.)
  • Do not subject the equipment to shocks or strong vibrations
  • Operation in potentially explosive atmospheres or the use in humans and animals is not permitted.
  • Do not modify the equipment in any way
  • Opening the equipment and service- and repair work must only be performed by qualified service personnel.
  • Measuring instruments don’t belong to children hands!

Cleaning the cabinet
Clean only with a damp, soft cloth and a commercially available household cleanser. Ensure that no water gets inside the equipment to prevent possible shorts and damage to the equipment.

Introduction

The sound level calibrator PeakTech® 8010 meets the requirements of EN 60942: 2003 Class 2, which is used to check the accuracy of sound level meters.

A defined sound level signal with a sound level of 94 dB (decibels) or 114 dB at a sound frequency of 1000Hz can be generated.

It can insert sound level meters, which are equipped with a microphone with a diameter of ½ “(12.7mm) into the calibration port of the calibrator.

The specified accuracies are given at an atmospheric pressure of 1013 hPa, an ambient temperature of 23 °C and a humidity of 65% RH.

Measurement Operation

  1. Insert the microphone of your sound level meter in the calibration port of the PeakTech 8010. Make sure that the microphone is fully inserted into the calibration port.
  2. Select the required sound level for testing (94 or 114dB).
  3. Now read the measured value on the display of your sound level meter from.
  4. If the measured value does not match with the calibration signal, you can readjust the sound level meter. For this purpose refer to the manual of your sound level meter or ask your dealer for it.
  5. After every measurement with the sound level calibrator, it should always be turned off, by choosing the “OFF” position of the selector switch.

Replacing the battery

If no sound pressure level output, then the battery needs to be replaced.

For changing the battery please follow these steps:

  1. Loosen the screw of the battery compartment cover on the back and remove the cover from the battery compartment,
  2. disconnect the old battery from the battery cable and remove the old battery from the battery compartment,
  3. Connect the new 9 V battery to the battery cable and replace battery in the battery compartment
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.

Notification about the Battery Regulation

The delivery of many devices includes batteries, which for example serve to operate the remote control. There also could be batteries or accumulators built into the device itself. In connection with the sale of these batteries or accumulators, we are obliged under the Battery Regulations to notify our customers of the following:
Please dispose of old batteries at a council collection point or return them to a local shop at no cost. The disposal in domestic refuse is strictly forbidden according to the Battery Regulations. You can return used batteries obtained from us at no charge at the address on the last side in this manual or by posting with sufficient stamps.
Contaminated batteries shall be marked with a symbol consisting of a crossed- out refuse bin and the chemical symbol (Cd, Hg or Pb) of the heavy metal which is responsible for the classification as pollutant:

  1. “Cd” means cadmium.
  2. “Hg” means mercury.
  3. “Pb” stands for lead.
