TE CONNECTIVITY W58 Series P&B Push To Reset Only Thermal Circuit Breaker
Product Information
The W58 series is a push-to-reset thermal circuit breaker that is designed to provide supplementary protection. It is recognized by UL 1077 and accepted by CSA as an appliance component protector. The circuit breaker meets the ignition protection requirements according to UL 1500. The W58 series is available in various current ratings ranging from 0.5 amps to 30 amps. It has a maximum resistance in ohms that varies depending on the current rating. The dielectric strength of the circuit breaker is over 1,500 volts RMS, and it has maximum operating voltages of 50VDC and 250VAC. The interrupt capacity is 2,000 amps at 50VDC for 0.5 – 30 amp models and 1,000 amps at 250VAC for 0.5 – 30 amp models. The circuit breaker has a resettable overload capacity of ten times the rated current. In terms of mechanical and environmental data, the circuit breaker can withstand shocks up to 10g, endurance cycling of over 1,000 cycles at 200% of rated load, and vibrations up to 10g at 10-55 Hz. It weighs less than 1 1/2 oz (42.5g).
Product Usage Instructions
- Before selecting a product part number, thoroughly review the technical data provided.
- Seek out the approvals files of the relevant agencies/laboratories and review them to confirm that the product meets the requirements for your specific application.
- Choose the appropriate current rating for your application based on the available options: 0.5A, 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A, 8A, 9A, 10A, 12A, 15A, 20A, 25A, or 30A.
- Take note of the maximum resistance in ohms corresponding to the chosen current rating.
- Ensure that the maximum operating voltages of the circuit breaker (50VDC and 250VAC) are compatible with your application.
- Verify that the interrupt capacity of the circuit breaker meets your requirements: 2,000 amps at 50VDC (0.5 – 30 amp models) and 1,000 amps at 250VAC (0.5 – 30 amp models).
- Consider the resettable overload capacity of ten times the rated current when determining if the circuit breaker is suitable for your application.
- Install the circuit breaker in a suitable location within your system.
- Refer to the ambient compensation chart to determine the compensated rating based on the ambient temperature and apply it to calculate overloads using the published trip curve.
Features
- 0.5 amp to 30 amp ratings.
- Cannot be manually tripped.
- Button extends for visual trip indication.
- Push button to reset breaker.
- Termination is screw or .250” QC.
- Bottom marked amperage rating optionally available.
