Before initial use

Remove the rice cooker and all accessories from the packaging and check the completeness of the delivery. Remove the protective film. Keep the packaging material away from
children and dispose of it in an environmentally-friendly manner.

Initial use

You can use the rice cooker to both cooked rice and steam food. Experiment with different types of food to find the right amount of water and cooking times.
The inner pot (12) features a scale (L’ for liter andCUP’ for cups) designed to make it easier for you to add the correct amount of water.
7.1 Initial use
Before using the rice cooker the first time, fill the inner pot (12) up to the 4 CUP’ line and allow the water to boil for approx. 30 minutes. Pour the water out, let the device cool down and then clean the inner pot (12) as described in theCleaning’ section. You can now use the rice cooker.
Note on the scale on the inner pot (12): If you are using a glass or container other than the measuring cup (13) that comes with the device to fill the rice cooker, please use the liter (L) markings in the inner pot (12) as a guide. If you want to make 0.6 liters of rice, for example, use a measuring cup to measure out the required amount and pour the rice into the inner pot (12). Then add water to the inner pot (12) until it reaches the 0.6-liter mark. The scale inside the inner pot (12) therefore indicates the total amount of rice and water in the pot. For that reason, do not use the inner pot (12) to measure liquids or food products since the scale is intended for the rice cooker only.
7.2 Preparing precooked rice
Precooked rice is available at shops and other retailers under names such as quick-cook rice, instant rice, and minute rice.
To achieve better results, we recommend that you apply a small amount of grease or vegetable oil to the inside of the inner pot (12).
**** Do not fill the inner pot (12) above the 6 CUP/1.0 L marking to prevent the rice cooker from overflowing.

  • Press the lid release (2) and open the lid.

  • Remove the inner pot (12).

  • Now add the rice and water to the inner pot (12). Add the amounts indicated on the packaging for the rice.
**** If you add too little rice or water, the rice will not come out right. Always fill the rice and water at least up to the 1 CUP marking.

  • Place the inner pot (12) back in the rice cooker.

  • Please make sure that the outside of the inner pot (12) is dry and clean and that the inner pot (12) is not tilted or crooked when you insert it. If not, the safety switch will be triggered and the rice cooker will no longer switch on.

  • Close the lid.

  • Insert the plug (5) into the power cord inlet (8) and plug the power cord into the socket.

  • Use the ON/OFF switch (10) to switch the rice cooker on.

  • The yellow LED (6) lights up.

  • Press the function selector (7) down. The yellow LED (6) switches off and the red LED (9) switches on. The rice cooker is now in cooking mode. Cook the rice according to the times indicated on the packaging.
**** Always use the plastic spoon (14) that comes with the rice cooker to remove the rice in order to avoid damaging the non-stick coating on the inner pot (12). Store the plastic spoon (14) in the holder (11) to ensure you always have it when you need it.

  • Once the rice is done cooking, the rice cooker automatically switches to keep warm mode, the red LED (9) goes out and the yellow LED (6) lights up.

  • Use the ON/OFF switch (10) to turn the rice cooker off, open the lid and remove the rice.

  • Alternatively, you can keep the cooked rice warm in the rice cooker for up to two hours. Then use the ON/OFF switch (10) to turn the rice cooker off, open the lid and remove the rice.

7.3 Preparing non-precooked rice
**** To achieve better results, we recommend that you apply a small amount of grease or vegetable oil to the inside of the inner pot (12).

  • Press the lid release (2) and open the lid.
  • Remove the inner pot (12).
  • Now use the measuring cup (13) to measure out the desired amount of rice. Use the following as a general guide: one measuring cup = one portion of rice. Cook several batches of rice to find the proper portion size for you.
  • Wash and sift the rice. If you do not wash the rice, this may result in more foam and the rice may not taste as good. Always follow the rice maker’s instructions on how to prepare the rice.
  • Now add the rice to the inner pot (12) and push it down to make it even and level.
  • Then pour in the amount of water indicated in the table below up to the corresponding CUP marking on the inner pot (12). You can also add a small amount of salt to match your taste.
Amount of rice Fill water up to:
One measuring cup 1 CUP mark
Two measuring cups 2 CUP mark
Three measuring cups 3 CUP mark
Four measuring cups 4 CUP mark
Five measuring cups 5 CUP mark
Six measuring cups 6 CUP mark

**** Please note the following:

  • Never exceed the 6 CUP/1.0 L marking when adding water.

  • Always make at least one portion of rice to ensure the rice comes out right.

  • You can use warm water to reduce the cooking time; adjust the amount of water if necessary.

  • The amount of water you’ll need will vary depending on what type of rice you’re using.

  • Adjust the amount of water based on your own experience.

Always use the plastic spoon (14) that comes with the rice cooker to remove the rice in order to avoid damaging the non-stick coating on the inner pot (12).

7.4 Steaming
WARNING!
Risk of burns!

  • Do not remove the steamer basket (1) while the rice cooker is steaming. There is a risk of burn injuries from the hot stream.
  • The steamer basket (1) gets hot during steaming. Use potholders or oven gloves when taking it out.
  • Please make sure that the outside of the inner pot (12) is dry and clean and that the inner pot (12) is not tilted or crooked when you insert it. If not, the safety switch will be triggered and the rice cooker will no longer switch on.
  • Add the water to the inner pot (12). You can use the tables below as a general guide on how much water to add.
