- Recommended post distance: 1.00 m clear width
- Maximum post distance per locking set: 1.00 m
- Use additional posts for freestanding boxes
- For calves younger than 3 weeks, the cross-over clamps and tube pieces 42.4 mm have to show to the inside of the box (see the picture for example)
Installation steps
-
Set the posts according to your desired box width. Fix them with the base plate or concrete them into the bar wall. (recommended bar wall height 300 – 400 mm, from the standing surface)
-
Fix the cross-over clamps 60 x 42 mm at the posts, above the bar wall. The distance between the cross-over clamps at the top and bottom should be approx. 660 mm.
-
Push the tube piece 42.4 mm 3 through the cross-over clamps. Then put the top and bottom u-profiles 2 on the tube. Notice the flaps for the locking bracket on the top u-profile.
-
Insert the plastic panels 1 from the back into the u-profiles. Adjust the side walls and fix them with the clamp screws.
-
Drill the plastic panels 1 and screw them to the u-profiles.
-
Mount the locking bracket 5 to the flaps of the upper u-profiles. Then use the angled cross-over clamps to screw the tube pieces 33.7 mm 4 to the locking brackets.
-
Fit the locking set 6 with the two cross-over clamps 60 x 42 mm between two posts. Position of the operating lever is in the middle of a box of 4, exactly over a side panel. Push the tube piece 42.4 mm 6 through the cross-over clamp. Now tighten the front half of the clamp. Use both of the flat steel parts to connect the locking bracket 5 with the operating lever. Mount the hand grip.
-
Fix the locking clamp to the tube of the locking unit and adjust the locking unit in the correct position.
-
Setting:
One person moves the operating lever. The locking brackets must be in a vertical position like shown in the picture. The lock must be closed like shown in the picture. Now a second person can move the clamp with the lock and fix it in the correct position. -
Tighten the bolts of the locking unit.
DO NOT tighten the bolts of the hand grip, of the flat steels and of the locking brackets. This is important for the correct function of the locking mechanism. -
Drill the holes for the u-profiles in the front of the plastic panel. Fix them on the plastic panel.
-
Set the desired height of the bucket holder for suckler bucket 7 via the different holes in the u-profile.
-
Use the clamp plate and the included u-bolts to mount the bucket holder 7 to the upper tube piece 42.4 mm. Align the bucket holder so that the calves can drink and eat without any problems.
Operation
- Open and close the boxes by using the operating lever. Do not forget to open the lock.
- For less stress on the animals, get the calves used to the locking position as early as possible.
