INSTALLATION

Prepare Ceiling
Refer to Figure 3.

  1. Use the template provided to mark and cut a hole (1) in the ceiling where the loudspeaker is to be installed. For frame-construction ceiling, skip to “Wire the Loudspeakers”.
  2. Install two telescoping tile rails (2), one on each side of the hole and supported by the suspended-ceiling support rails (3).
  3. Install the C-ring (4) over the hole using the tile-rails as support. Make sure the clips on the C-ring are properly fitted over the tile-rail.
  4. Use the tile rail screws (5) to secure the C-ring to the tile-rails.

IMPORTANT! If tile rail screws are not used, unwanted sag to the tile may occur.
Installation

WIRE THE LOUDSPEAKERS

  1. Back out the conduit cover’s Phillips retaining screw to its stop point and pull the conduit cover straight out to remove as shown in step 1 of Figure 4.
    Wire the Loudspeakers

  2. Pass the CAT cable through the conduit/stress-relief clamp, leaving enough wire for making connections as shown in step 2 of Figure 4. Carefully tighten the clamp over the wires, or over the conduit if used.
    Wire the Loudspeakers

  3. Plug the RJ45 connector securely into the jack as shown in step 3 of Figure 4.
    Wire the Loudspeakers

  4. Reattach the conduit cover and secure with the Phillips retaining screw as shown in step 4 of Figure 4
    Wire the Loudspeakers

MOUNT THE LOUDSPEAKER

Refer to Figure 5.

  1. Make sure all of the dog-ears are fully extended and in their non-capture position.
  2. Position the loudspeaker into the hole prepared in the ceiling.
  3. Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten each of the three dog-ear screws.
  4. As you tighten the screws, the dog-ears will swing into capture position over the ceiling. Be sure all dog-ears are properly positioned over the ceiling.
  5. Tighten the dog-ears until firm contact is made with the ceiling surface.

CAUTION! Do not overtighten the dog-ear screws! Insert the grille’s safety tether pin into the supplied hole on the loudspeaker baffle and install the grille.

MOUNT THE LOUDSPEAKER: ZERO BEZEL ACCESSORY

The optional NL-C179C-WH Zero Bezel Accessory (FG-901616-02) for the NL-C4 includes an adapter ring and a replacement magnetic grille that, once installed, covers the entire loudspeaker flange.

  1. Place the adapter ring behind the loudspeaker flange and below the ceiling panel. See Figure 6.
  2. Secure the loudspeaker’s dog-ears. See previous section and Figure 5 for guidance.
  3. Insert the Zero Bezel magnetic grille’s safety tether pin into the supplied hole on the loudspeaker baffle. See Figure 7.
  4. Install the Zero Bezel grille, making sure that it’s securely held in place. The old grille can be discarded, if desired.
