Power adapter

  • The design of the power adapter complies with protection class II. Only connect the power adapter to a standard mains socket.
  • The mains socket the power adapter is plugged into must be easily accessible.
  • This product must be used only with the included power adapter.
  • Do not unplug the power adapter by pulling on the cord. Grip the sides of the plug, and then remove the plug from the mains socket.
  • Do not touch the power adapter if there are any signs of damage, as this may cause a fatal electric shock!
Switch off the mains voltage to the mains socket containing the power adapter (switch off at the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse, and then switch off at the corresponding RCD protective switch to ensure the mains socket is completely disconnected from the mains voltage). Only then remove the power adapter from the mains socket. Dispose of the faulty power adapter in an environmentally friendly manner and discontinue use. Re-place it with an identical power adapter.

Installation and operation

  • The product is only intended for use in dry indoor locations. No part of the product should become damp or wet; never handle it if your hands are wet!
Improper handling of the power adapter may result in a fatal electric shock!

  • The product must be installed on a stable horizontal or vertical surface. Before operating the product, make sure it is securely fixed and cannot fall down and get damaged.

  • Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room into to a warm one. This may cause condensation to form, which can destroy the prod-uct. Improper handling of the power adapter can cause a life-threatening electric shock! Allow the product to reach room temperature before connecting it and putting it into use. This may take several hours.

  • When mounting and operating the CO2 light stick, ensure that the cord between the product and the power adapter is not kinked or pinched.

Connections and product overview

  1. 4x openings for fastening screws
  2. Slider for fixing in horizontal or vertical position
  3. On/off alarm switch
  4. Sensor opening
  5. Green LED light
  6. Yellow LED light
  7. Red LED light

Installation

The place of installation should be away from windows, doors, heating elements, fans or air conditioners, corners of the room or floors. The product should not be installed in boiler rooms where CO2 concentration is typically higher. The product should also not be installed in dusty rooms as the sensor may not function properly in dusty conditions. The product should be mounted so that the sensor opening (4) is not obstructed (e.g. by curtains or similar). The CO2 light stick can be mounted both on a horizontal and vertical surface. Move the slider with the ribbed surface inwards to adjust the position of the mounting bracket and hold it in this position. The mounting bracket can be swivelled by 90° only in one direction (do not use excessive force when turning it). Release the slider so that it clicks into place (you may need to move the mounting bracket a little bit so that the slider snaps back to the initial position). To fix the product in place, use four fastening screws and, if necessary, dowels; they must be suitable for your surface. When drilling holes or tightening screws, make sure that no cords or wires are dam- aged, as this can cause a life-threatening electric shock!

How to connect
Insert the round plug of your power adapter into the dedicated socket (4) and then plug the power adapter into a suitable mains socket (wall outlet). In a few seconds, one of the LED lights will go on (it can be a green one or any other) and the CO2 light stick is ready for use.

Function

The three coloured LED lights indicate the CO2 concentration:

  • Green: 400 – 1000 ppm
  • Yellow: 1000 – 2000 ppm
  • Red: >2000 ppm

It is possible that a CO2 concentration can reach 2000 ppm within a short time depending on the room size, number of people in the room and other variables. The CO2 concentration is typically higher in rooms where windows are usually closed for extended time, which is the case in winter; therefore, it is lower in summer. If the yellow or red LED light goes on, you should ventilate the room. The indication may not change immediately as the room air takes some time to mix with the outside air. Some people perceive air as stale when the CO2 concentration is more than 1000 ppm. Detailed information on carbon dioxide and the effects of certain gas concentrations on humans (as well as limits for living and working areas in your country) can be found on the Internet or in specialist literature. Always check the source of data/information (it should be reliable) and make sure it is up-to-date; in Germany, for example, it is the Environment Agency: www.umweltbundesamt.de).

Switching the alarm sound on/off
The alarm is triggered by the yellow LED light (long beeps) or red LED light (short beeps). Set the switch (3) on the bottom of the product to position “I” to enable the alarm sound or to position “O” to disable the alarm sound.

Function test
A function test can be performed by slowly blowing into the sensor opening (4) while exhaling. If the product functions properly, the high CO2 content will cause the red LED light to go on after a few seconds with alarm activation. It may take some time for the yellow or green LED light to go on again until the air saturated with carbon dioxide in the housing is mixed with the normal air room.

Care and cleaning

Before cleaning the product, always switch it off and unplug the power adapter from the mains socket. Never use aggressive detergents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions, as these may damage the casing or cause the product to malfunction. Use a dry, lint-free cloth to clean the exterior casing. Blow into the sensor opening to remove dust inside it. Do not use any blowers for this purpose (e.g. a spray type blower, a compressor or the like)!

Disposal

Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be placed in household waste. At the end of its service life, dispose of the product in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines.
