NOTE
For safety, the electric knife can operate continuously for up to 1 minute, then will stop automatically. Press the trigger again to continue operation.

BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. Before using your electric knife for the first time, remove all packaging material and promotional labels.
  2. Check for any missing or damaged parts as per the components list.
  3. Clean all parts according to the Care, Cleaning & Storage section of this book.
  4. To check the current battery life, use the provided USB cord to connect to a power source. The trigger will illuminate a colour that indicates the current % of battery life. Refer to the table titled Charging Colour Table found in this booklet for more details.

NOTE
This electric knife comes with a charging cable only. A power adaptor is not included.

NOTE
It is recommended to fully charge the battery before first use. To maximise battery longevity, avoid completely discharging the battery.

CHARGING THE BATTERY
The electric knife is fully portable once charged, and may take up to 2 hours to recharge once the battery is fully drained if connected to an optimal charging source. The electric knife can be charged using the USB cord provided and a compatible electronic device or DC 5V 1A (or a minimum of 5W) USB power adaptor (not included). In order to minimise charge time, a DC9V 2A charger can be used to recharge in approximately 2 hours.

  1. Ensuring that no blade set is attached, connect the provided USB cord to the unit with a power adaptor and plug into a 220-240V power outlet. Alternatively, if equipped, plug the charging cord into a USB charging outlet directly. The indicator  light on the trigger will light up based on the current battery life. Refer to the Charging Colour Table for more details. The electric knife is now being charged. 3
    • From fully charged to discharged, the knife operating time is 25 minutes, depending on the load. The charge time will be approximately 2 hours with a DC9V 2A charger.
    • The indicator light on the trigger will change colours to indicate the % of battery charge.
    • Once the indicator light illuminates white, the electric knife is fully charged and ready to use.
    • If operating the electric knife while connected to the charger, the unit will continue to charge, and the indicator light will change colour according to the % of charge. Refer to the In Operation Colour Table found in this book.

BLADES ASSEMBLY

The Breville Slice ‘n’ Carve™ Cordless electric knife comes with 2 stainless steel blade set options. Each set is made up of two interlocked blades to create a cutting action. The smaller serrated blade set is perfect for smaller food tasks such as tomatoes and sushi, while the larger blade set suits larger tasks such as bread loaves and roasts.

CAUTION

The blades of your rechargeable electric knife are sharp! Handle with extreme care. We recommend holding the blade set by the safety guards at all times when handling the blades. Never attempt to fit or remove the blades whilst the knife is in operation Ensure the knife is switched off before removing and changing the blades.

  1. To insert, select the matching size of blade set appropriate to the task. The two blades for that set must be interlocked before inserting into the electric knife body. To interlock the blades, hold the shaft ends below the safety guards and slip the rivet found on one blade onto the tip of the other blade.
    NOTE
Always use both blades in the blade set when operating the electric knife.

  2. Hold the assembled blades by the safety guards and insert blades into the individual blade slots (See Fig. 1). A click will sound when locked into position. Breville-BEK200-Slice-'n'-Carve-Cordless-fig-2

NOTE
Ensure both blades in the blade set click into position before use.

NOTE
This knife was tested by slicing through the length of a hard sausage. The sausage is approximately 55 mm in diameter and cut into slices approximately 5 mm thick. The sausage is stored for at least 4 hours at a temperature of 23°C ± 2°C before slicing.

BLADES DISASSEMBLY
Ensure the electric knife is not turned on before disassembling the blade set from the unit. The light ring should not illuminate.

  1. Hold the blades by the safety guard, aimed away from the body and press the BLADE RELEASE button on the body to eject and lift the blade set out.
  2. To return the blade set to the blades storage case, press and hold the RELEASE button on the storage case and holding the knife set by the safety guard, place the blade into the slots and push in (See Fig. 2).Breville-BEK200-Slice-'n'-Carve-Cordless-fig-3

USING YOUR BREVILLE PORTABLE ELECTRIC KNIFE

  1. Hold the electric knife with the blade set positioned away from your body. Press the safety lock button to unlock; the light ring on the trigger will illuminate based on the current battery life. The electric knife is ready to use.

      NOTE
Always use both blades when operating the electric knife.
      NOTE
Always ensure blades are fully locked into position before operating.
  2. Press and hold the trigger to start the electric knife. The light ring will continue to illuminate red or white, depending on the % of battery life remaining. Refer to the In Operation Colour Table for more details.

Slicing Hints

  • Use to slice bread, meat, vegetables and to cut cakes.
  • Always place food to be sliced on a stable wooden or plastic cutting board. Do not slice food on crockery, or on metal, or bench tops as scratching may occur.
  • Gently guide blades through food. A sawing action is not necessary. Do not force blades through food.
  • To maintain sharpness of blades, do not cut through frozen foods, bones, fruit pips and stones or any other hard substances.
  • For best results when carving meat and poultry, allow cooked meat to stand for 10–15 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to set and makes carving easier and neater.
  • Before carving meat or chicken, remove any skewers.
  • A carving fork is recommended for steadying meat and assists in carving even slices.
  • Do not attempt to sharpen blades.

Care, Cleaning & Storage

Before cleaning, ensure that the electric knife is not connected to a power source, and the light ring is not illuminated. Ensure the blade set has been removed from the electric knife when not in use.

  • Gently clean the blade sets in warm soapy water.
  • Use a dry cloth to clean the body of the electric knife.
  • Do not immerse the unit in water.

WARNING

  • Knife blades are sharp. Always handle with care.
  • Keep the appliance out of reach of children.

STORAGE

  • Always store the blade sets in the blades storage case provided.
  • Do not store the blades attached to the knife body of the electric knife.
  • Store the electric knife in a cool, dry place.
