PRIOR INFORMATION

FIELD OF APPLICATION
OXIMO40 drives are designed to drive all types of roller shutters (with or without a rigid link, with or without stop, etc.).
The professional drive and home automation installer must ensure that once installed, the installation of the motorized product complies with the standards in force in the country in which it is commissioned, in particular standard EN 13659 on roller shutters.

LIABILITY
Please read these instructions carefully before installing and using the drive. In addition to following the instructions given in this guide, the instructions detailed in the attached Safety instructions document must also be observed.

The drive must be installed by a drive and home automation professional, in accordance with Somfy’s instructions and the applicable regulations in the country of installation.
Any use of the drive outside the field of application described above is prohibited. Such use, and any failure to comply with the instructions given in this guide and in the attached Safety instructions, document, absolves Somfy of any liability and invalidates the warranty.

The installer must inform its customers of the operating and maintenance conditions for the drive and must provide them with the instructions for operation and maintenance as well as the attached Safety instructions document after installing the drive. Any After-Sales Service operation on the drive requires intervention by a drive and home automation professional. If in doubt when installing the drive, or to obtain additional information, contact a Somfy adviser or visit the website www.somfy.com.

INSTALLATION

Warning

  • These instructions are mandatory for the drive and home automation professional installing the drive.
  • Comply with current standards and legislation in the country of installation.

Attention

  • Never drop, knock or puncture the drive or immerse it in liquid.
  • Install an individual control point for each drive.

Installation recommendations:
The three elements comprising the kit must be installed on the same side of the roller shutter (Oximo 40 Solar io motor, 3.2 W SOLAR PANEL and either an Oximo WireFree Battery /12V NAKED BATTERY or an Oximo WIreFree Battery Stick).

ASSEMBLY

Preparing the drive installation
Check that the inner diameter of the motorized product’s tube is greater than or equal to 37 mm.

  1. Fit the accessories required to integrate the drive into the roller tube: the crown (a) and the wheel (b) on the drive.
  2. Measure the length (L1) between the inner edge of the drive head and the rim of the drive wheel.somfy-OXIMO-40-SOLAR-IO-Solar-Drive-fig-2

Preparing the tube
Install the drive in a roller tube with a minimum thickness of 0.5 mm and a smooth inner surface: with no welding, crimping, folding, etc. inside the tube.

  1. Cut the roller tube to the required length, depending on the motorized product.
  2. Deburr the roller tube and remove the swarf.
  3. For roller tubes that are smooth inside, cut a notch with the following measurements: somfy-OXIMO-40-SOLAR-IO-Solar-Drive-fig-3

Drive-tube assembly

  1. Slide the drive into the roller tube. For winding tubes with a smooth interior, position the cut notch on the crown.
  2. The drive wheel must be locked in place to prevent any movement in the roller tube:
This can be achieved by fastening the winding tube to the drive wheel using 4 self-tapping screws, Ø 5 mm, or 4 steel pop rivets, Ø 4.8 mm, placed between 5 mm and 15 mm from the outer edge of the drive wheel, regardless of the roller tube.somfy-OXIMO-40-SOLAR-IO-Solar-Drive-fig-6

Attention
The screws or pop rivets must only be fastened to the drive wheel and not to the drive.

Mounting the tube-drive assembly

  1. Install and fix the drive-tube assembly onto the end bracket (e) and onto the drive bracket (f).
    Attention
Ensure that the drive-tube assembly is secured to the end bracket. This operation prevents the drive-tube assembly from coming out of the end bracket mounting.

  2. Depending on the type of bracket, screw the adapter (g) onto the motor head.somfy-OXIMO-40-SOLAR-IO-Solar-Drive-fig-7

Installation of the antenna

Attention

  • Do not wind or cut the antenna wire. Observe a minimum bending radius (h) of 9 mm.
  • The end of the drive antenna wire must protrude at least 10 cm from the roller shutter housing and be 1 cm from all metal surfaces.somfy-OXIMO-40-SOLAR-IO-Solar-Drive-fig-8
WIRING

Precaution

  • Standard NF C 15-100 for electrical installations must be adhered to.
  • To ensure electrical safety, this class III drive must be recharged by a “SELV” voltage source (Safety Extra Low Voltage).

Attention

  • Cables that pass through a metal wall must be protected and isolated using a sheath or sleeve.
  • Attach cables to prevent any contact with moving parts.
  • If the drive is used outdoors and if the power supply cable is of type H05-VVF, route the cable in a UVresistant duct, e.g. trunking.
  • The drive cable cannot be removed. If it is damaged, return the drive to the After-Sales department.
  • Leave the drive power supply cable accessible: it must be easy to replace.
  • To guarantee good radio reception, do not cut the external antenna.
  • The cables and connectors must be protected from roller shutter movement.
  • Somfy recommends placing the connectors behind the end piece and securing the cables inside the roller shutter housing.
  1. Wire the 4-pin drive connector (A) to the 4-pin Y cable connector (B).
  2. Wire the 2-pin battery connector (C) to the 2-pin Y cable connector (D).
  3. Wire the 2-pin solar panel connector (E) to the 4-pin Y cable connector (F)somfy-OXIMO-40-SOLAR-IO-Solar-Drive-fig-9

TIPS AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE

Questions about the product?somfy-OXIMO-40-SOLAR-IO-Solar-Drive-
fig-29

If the motorized product still does not work, contact a drive and home automation professional.

Obstacle detection
The automatic obstacle detection function protects the roller shutter and enables obstacles to be cleared:

  • If the roller shutter apron comes up against an obstacle when moving down then, depending on the position of the obstacle:
    • Either the roller shutter stops automatically.
    • Or it stops and is automatically raised.
  • If the roller shutter apron encounters an obstacle when moving upwards, the roller shutter stops automatically.

Protecting the battery against excessive discharge
Each time the drive receives a raise or lower command, it checks the battery voltage to ensure it is not discharged below 10 V.

  • If the battery voltage is greater than 10 V: the drive works normally.
  • If the voltage is less than 10 V:
    • The roller shutter will not operate.

Thanks to the solar panel, the battery voltage will increase above 12 V again and the drive will resume normal operation. However, there is an alternative solution to recharge the battery using the Somfy-compatible external battery charger.
