Design and description
Foam is attached behind the adhesive structure. The last letter indicates which foam the gripper contains: S = soft, M = medium, H = hard.
Assembly
CAUTION
Risk of injury if the product falls during transport, assembly or dismantling.
- Take appropriate safety measures to prevent the product from falling over.
- Only install the product on machines with the appropriate connection dimensions.
- Wear suitable protective equipment.
NOTICE
Impairment of the adhesive effect due to skin contact.
Particularly when it comes into contact with human skin, grease residue
remains on the adhesive structure, which has a negative impact on the adhesive
effect.
- Do not touch the adhesive structure with your bare hands.
- Keep the adhesive structure free of contamination as far as technically possible.
The gripper has a bayonet lock for the ADHESO robot adapters (ADHESO K-ISO50 and ADHESO K-ISO31.5).
Operation
6.1 Notes on operation
WARNING
Risk of injury due to loss of workpieces!
Falling and ejected workpieces during operation can lead to serious injury or
death.
- If possible, grip the workpiece at the center of gravity.
- Note that the maximum workpiece weight specified in the catalog refers to the static state and not to a dynamic state and may be lower depending on the application.
NOTICE
Damage to the pad possible.
Never use the gripper with foam variant “S” on a smooth surface!
The adhesive force between the workpiece and the adhesive structure can exceed
the mechanical stability of the foam behind the adhesive structure, causing
the foam to become damaged during the detachment process.
- If the gripper is at a standstill on a robot for a longer period of time, align the gripper in the direction of the floor. This minimizes the absorption of dust particles from the ambient air. This results in fewer cleaning intervals and higher gripping forces after a standstill.
- The workpiece to be gripped should come in contact with as little moisture as possible from solid materials or liquids, as it could otherwise easily detach from the workpiece. These lower the adhesive force and contaminate the adhesive structure.
6.2 Gripping workpieces
In order to grip a workpiece, the gripper is pressed parallel to the adhesive
structure on the flattest possible plane of the workpiece. An incline in the
alignment between the gripper and the object has a negative effect on the
holding force.
Depending on the conditions of the workpiece (rough, stiff, flexible, etc.),
different amounts of contact pressure must be applied to ensure a secure hold.
6.3 Detaching workpieces
Cleaning
NOTICE
Damage to the pad due to aggressive cleaning agents.
Do not clean the pad with aggressive cleaning agents such as acetone!
Light contamination on the adhesive structure can be removed with the cleaning
tape provided for this purpose (available as an accessory).
▶ Apply the cleaning tape to the adhesive structure and press lightly with the
thumb.
▶ Pull off the cleaning tape at a 90° angle.
▶ Repeat the procedure until no more contamination is visible on the adhesive
structure or the removed cleaning tape.
For heavier contamination:
▶ Clean the adhesive structure with lukewarm water and detergent.
✓ After cleaning, no detergent should remain on the adhesive structure.
▶ Dry the gripper after cleaning.
✓ Do not dry using oily compressed air or cloths with lint.
Storage
Store the gripper with the mounted cover plug in a place that is as dust-free as possible and protect it from sunlight.
