Presentation

In this version, the 3000 Trio gained PLAYER technology, with remote control and several audio sources such as Bluetooth, AUX, USB and FM radio, allowing the user flexibility in choosing the preferred audio. The trio line is a product intended to use with two or three ways acoustic box, using a single amplifier.
Versatile due to two output ways, suitable to drive the bass loudspeakers, compression driver and tweeters in a same amplifier, but with separated adjustments for LOW and HIGH signals, such as individual gain, crossover frequency and also an audio limiter included (with three selectable levels for LOW way, and fixed for HIGH way).
It makes the instalation easier and pratical, due to less signal and power cables required.

Key recommendations

You can find below some key recommendations to get the most out of your amplifier:

  1. Read this instruction manual carefully before carrying out any connection;
    Any connection to the amplifier input or output must be carried out when amplifier is off;

  2. Check carefully the polarity of power supply wiring (battery’s positive and negative terminals) loudspeakers and the minimum speaker impedance;

  3. It is compulsory to install fuses to protect against overloading. The fuse or circuit breaker must be installed as close as possible to the battery and sized up according to the amplifier;

  4. The gauge of power supply wiring is extremely important both to reach the desired amplifier output and to the amplifier’s safety. Use the wire gauge recommended in this manual (page 05). Using wire gauges below the specified value will result in power loss and overheating of cables. It is important that the power supply cables are the shortest possible;

  5. Amplifier must be installed in a firm and ventilated area;

  6. In order to avoid interferences, the signal cable (RCA) must be away from the original wiring of vehicle or from any other power supply cable;

  7. The amplifier must be installed by a qualified professional.

Functions & inputs

Functions & inputs

  1. INPUT ( R and L ): Inputs of signals to be amplified. Connect these signals inputs RCA outputs of Head Unit , using good quality shielded cables to avoid noise influence.
    X OVER

  2. SUBSONIC: Variable adjustment from 10Hz to 80Hz, it sets the beginning operating frequency for LOW way.

  3. LOW/HIGH: Variable adjustment from 700Hz to 1200Hz, it sets simultaneously the end operating frequency of LOW way and beginning operation frequency of HIGH way.

  4. HIGH LEVEL: Set the output level of HIGH way.

  5. LOW LEVEL: Set the output level of LOW way.

  6. BASS BOOST: Boost for bass levels in 50Hz, with variable gain from 0 to +10dB.

  7. LIMITER:With three positions, it sets the aproximately value for clipping of LOW way signal (threshold level for internal audio limiter). The more distortion allowed it leads to get more output power, but it can decrease the loudspeaker’s lifetime. The HIGH way also has a limiter, but with a fixed threshold for never reach the clipping point.
    Functions & inputs

  8. MONITOR: Connection to an accessory, which function is to monitor the amplifier and it is where all information from the indicator LEDs, such as distortion (CLIP/TEMP) and protection actuation (PROT), will be displayed simultaneously.

  9. FM ANTENNA: Indoor wire antenna for FM radio reception. Position the wire antenna in order to achieve the best FM reception.

  10. PLAYER PANEL: Audio sources such as Bluetooth, AUX, USB and FM radio. (See page 13)

Functions & inputs

  1. Micro SD: Micro SD memory card slot.
    Card should be positioned as shown in the picture, with the terminals facing up.

  2. USB: Flash Drive Input.

  3. Aux. (P2 connector): Receives audio signal from the P2 output of your mobile phone, tablet, MP3, computer, and others. Use good quality cable to prevent noise interference.

  4. Short press (Track -): Rewind music tracks in USB / SD / BLUETOOTH.
    Long press (Volume -): Decreases overall volume.
    FM: Short press: Decreases the frequency 0.1MHz. Long: Automatic search for the previous station.

  5. Short press (Play / Pause):Pause or start songs for USB / SD / BLUETOOTH.
    Short press: Switch to AUX.
    FM: Short press: Advances next saved memory position from FM stations. Long: Search stations FM and save to memory.

  6. Short press (Track +): Forward music tracks in USB / SD / BLUETOOTH source options.
    Long press (Volume +): Increases overall volume.
    FM: Short press: Increases the frequency 0.1MHz. Long: Automatic search for the next station.

  7. Short press (Source): Selects the functions: USB / SD / AUXILIARY / BLUETOOTH / FM.
    Long press – ON / OFF – To turn the unit on or off.

  8. LED DisplayRemote Control IR Sensor: For better communication between the remote control and the device, point the control at this point (this direction) on the display.

Power supply connector & outputs

Power supply connector & outputs

  1. FAN: This amplifier has one internal fan, and cannot be blocked. For perfect operating, the amplifier must be installed in a ventilated place. Don’t block the ventilation holes, keep a minimum ventilation area surrounding the amplifier. Otherwise, the thermal protection can trip due to excessive heating.
  2. LOW OUT: Output for low frequency loudspeakers connection. The frequency response is set by X-Over adjustments, and the its level is set by LOW LEVEL adjustment. Follow the polarity and minimum recommended impedance. To combine loudspeakers, the resulting impedance must be taken into account.
  3. HIGH OUT: Output for high frequency transducers connection (horns and tweeters). The frequency response is set by LOW/HIGH adjustment in the X-Over section, and the level is set by HIGH LEVEL adjustment. Follow the polarity and minimum recommended impedance. To combine loudspeakers, the resulting impedance must be taken into account.
  4. POSITIVE POWER SUPPLY TERMINAL: Use a 4 AWG (21mm²) cable directly from the positive battery terminal with fuse (150A), as close as possible to the battery.
  5. REMOTE TERMINAL: The remote Head Unit output must be connected by a 0,75mm² (18 AWG) cable.
  6. NEGATIVE POWER SUPPLY TERMINAL: A 4 AWG (21mm²) cable as short as possible must be used, connected to the negative battery pole.
    It is recommended that all cables must have tinned ends to improve electrical contact.

Installation

CAUTION: All connections to power supply, input and output connectors must be carried out only with amplifier off.

Recommended wire gauge & fuse

Positive / negative power supply cable ____ 4 AWG
Output cables wire gauge (LOW OUT) ____ 9 AWG
Output cables wire gauge (HIGH OUT) 15 AWG
Remote cable ____
18 AWG
Protection fuse or circuit breaker__ 150A

Wire gauge calculated based in a 4 meters maximum lenght. For greater distances, increase the cable gauge to avoid power losses.
Caution: Using wire gauges below the recommendation will result in power loss and overheating of wiring.
Check polarity and never reverse power supply cables due to the risk of damage to the amplifier.
It is compulsory to install the protection fuses or circuit breakers as close as possible from batteries.

LEDs indicators & protection system

Blue LED steady on:
Indicates that the amplifier is turned on.

Flashing yellow LED: Excessive temperature (May be caused by obstruction of the internal fan, improper installation or poorly ventilated location).
In case of amplifier overheating, the thermal protection will trip the audio output.
The yellow led will flash continuously and the internal fan will run at maximum speed. Once the amplifier is back to a safe operation temperature, it will resume the normal operation.

Don’t turn off the amplifier when in thermal protection state. Due to internal fan, the cooling time could be shorter than waiting with the amplifier turned off.

Blinking yellow LED according to music: Indicates that the amplifier is operating at the threshold of distortion. If the red LED also blinks, it indicates excessive distortion.

Red LED:
Short-circuit or impedance lower than that supported at output.
Red LED flashes 2x:
Supply voltage less than 9V
Red LED flashes 3x:
Power supply voltage greater than 16V.
