QUICK START GUIDE

  1. Make sure of a Thread network of a Thread Matter hub.
  2. Reset the S4 smart plug by long pressing the power button for 15 seconds until its LED blinks slowly.
  3. Make sure the S4 is within Bluetooth range with your phone, and under coverage of the Thread network.
  4. Launch the app (Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa or SmartThings) of the respective ecosystem hub to add S4.
  5. Tap’+’, and scan the Matter QR code on device or on user manual, or manually input the setup code.
  6. Name the 54 and assign it to a room.
  7. Talk to the voice assistant or use the ecosystem app to control On/Off.

Tips

  1. The Matter QR/setup code can be used in the FIRST ecosystem Only.
  2. To add 54 to another Thread Matter ecosystem, please generate a new QR/setup code from the previous ecosystem app.
  3. Use the ecosystem app to create schedules, automations and scenes.
  4. Use the ecosystem cloud to control 54 away from home.
  5. After setting up, S4 will act as a Thread router to extend your Thread network.
  6. Occasionally, the Thread network gets unstable, especially when a new device is added. It might take up to 24 hours for the Thread network to heal and adapt to the new structure.
  7. When S4 is unplugged, please wait at least 5 seconds before plugging it back to power.

For Apple Home:

  1. Apple Thread Matter hubs include: HomePod mini, HomePod(2nd Gen), Apple TV4K(2021).
  2. The use of an Apple Home accessory needs the follow permissions:
    • Settings>iCloud>iCloud Drive> Tum On
    • Settings>iCloud>Keychain> Turn On

For Google Home:
Google Thread Matter hubs (by 2023) are: Nest Hub Max and Nest Hub (2nd gen).
For Alexa: (Thread support TBD)
Alexa Thread Matter hubs (by 2023) are: 4th-Gen Echo smart speaker.

For SmartThings;
SmartThings Thread Matter hubs is: Samsung SmartThings Station.

FAQ

  1. Why did I fail to set up my Onvis 54 smart plug ?
  2. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled in your iOS device.
  3. Make sure the 54 is within Bluetooth range of your iOS device.
  4. Make sure your Thread network is in place and working, and the S4 is within Thread coverage.
  5. Input the correct MATTER setup code.
  6. Make sure the ecosystem app and hub supports Thread and Matter commissioning. An Android device and app are required to commission to Google, Alexa and Smart­Things hubs(as of Jan 2023).
  7. No Response
  8. If the connection of 54 and the Thread network is too weak due to long distance, try deploying a Thread router device to expand Thread network.
  9. When used in multi-ecosystems simultaneously, there might be delays or even failures.
