For your safety

Comply with the instructions for use

Before using the machine, read these instructions for use thoroughly and completely and comply with the instructions they contain. Keep these instructions for use close to the machine and pass them on to the next user.
Failure to observe the instructions for use may result in serious injuries or damage to property.
Safety information is therefore indicated as follows:
WARNING
Indicates circumstances that may result in serious injuries or death.
CAUTION
Indicates circumstances that may result in minor injuries.
CAUTION
Indicates circumstances that may result in damage to property.

Proper use
The machine is intended for private domestic use.
It is designed solely for the preparation of coffee.
Use for any other purpose will be deemed improper.

User limitations

People, including children, who

  • do not have the physical, sensory or mental capabilities to use the machine safely or
  • are inexperienced or lack knowledge must be supervised by a responsible person when using it, or must be instructed in how to use it correctly.

When the CLARIS Smart filter cartridge is used, wireless connections are established. Specific details on the frequency band used and the maximum transmission power can be found in the “Technical data” section.

Use by children

Children must be able to recognise and understand the potential dangers arising from incorrect use:

  • Keep children under the age of 8 away from the machine, or supervise them constantly.
  • Children aged 8 and over may only operate the machine without supervision if they have been instructed in how to use it safely.
  • Children may not clean or service the machine unless supervised by a responsible person.
  • Do not allow children to play with the machine.

What to do in the event of damage
Never use a damaged machine or mains cable.
This could result in fatal electric shock.

  • In the event of signs of damage, disconnect the machine from the mains. To do this, remove the mains plug from the power socket.
  • Only permit authorised JURA service centres to carry out repairs to the machine and the permanently connected mains cable. Unsuitable repairs may result in consequential damage.

Preventing damage
To avoid damage to the machine and the mains cable:

  • Do not use the ONO or the mains cable near hot surfaces.
  • Do not allow the mains cable to rub against sharp edges and ensure that it does not become trapped.
  • Never allow the mains cable to hang down loosely. The mains cable could pose a tripping hazard or become damaged.
  • Protect the ONO from weather and direct sunlight.
  • Only connect the ONO to a mains voltage corresponding to that stated on the rating plate. The rating plate is located on the underside.
  • Connect the ONO directly to a domestic power socket. Using multi-socket adapters or exten- sion cords may cause overheating.
  • Do not use alkaline or alcohol-based cleaning agents; only use mild cleaning agents and a soft cloth.
  • Only fill the water tank with fresh, cold, non-carbonated water.
  • Do not use ground coffee treated with addi- tives or ground coffee from caramelised beans.
  • Switch the machine off if you are going to be absent for a long period of time. To do this, remove the mains plug from the power socket.
  • Only use original JURA maintenance products. Use of products that are not explicitly recommended by JURA could damage your ONO.

Danger of electric shock
Water conducts electricity. Do not bring water and electricity into contact with one another:

  • Never touch the mains plug with wet hands.
  • Do not immerse the ONO or the mains cable in water.
  • Do not put the ONO or any individual parts in the dishwasher.
  • Remove the mains plug from the power socket before cleaning. Always wipe the ONO with a damp cloth rather than a wet one, and protect it from prolonged exposure to water splash. The ONO must not be cleaned with a jet of water.
  • The ONO is not suitable for installation on a surface where a jet of water can be used.

Preparing and using for the first time

Setting up the machine
When setting up your ONO, please note the following:

  • Place the ONO on a horizontal surface that is not sensitive to water.
  • Choose a spot for your ONO which is protected against overheating.

First-time use

WARNING
If the machine is operated with a defective mains cable, there is a danger of potentially fatal electric shock.

  • Never use a machine which is damaged or has a defective mains cable.

CAUTION

Preparation

The basics of using the ONO

Standby and “ready for use” mode:
As soon as the ONO is connected to the power supply with the mains plug, it goes into standby mode. Press the , or button to switch on the ONO.
When the or button lights up, this indicates that the ONO has heated up and is ready for use.
Positions and operation of the swivel arm: “Fill position”
This is the position in which ground coffee is added to the filler funnel. When the grinder is not in use, turn the swivel arm to this position.jura
Type 767 ONO Coffee Machine - Brew position“Brew position”
In this position, pull the release handle and press the swivel arm down to compress the ground coffee.
The swivel arm must only be pressed down in the brew position.
Do not move the swivel arm while the pump is operating.

Using ground coffee:

  • Only use (freshly) ground coffee, not beans or instant coffee.
  • Never add more than two level measuring spoons of ground coffee.
  • Very finely ground coffee can block up the system so that the coffee only comes out in drips. If this happens, use more coarsely ground coffee.

Filling the water tank:
If the symbol appears during preparation, you can fill the water tank and insert it again within 5 minutes. Then press the function button to confirm.
Coffee preparation will continue.

Espresso and coffee

Example: Coffee
Requirement: The swivel arm is in the fill position.

  • Place a cup under the coffee spout.

  • Remove the cover of the filler funnel.
**** The cover for the powder chute protects against dust. Use this cover when not using your ONO for an extended period of time.

  • Add the desired amount of ground coffee to the filler funnel (max. 2 level measuring spoons).
**** The amount of ground coffee determines the intensity and aroma of the beverage, so you can adjust it to your personal preferences.

  • Turn the swivel arm to the brew position.

  • Pull the release handle and press the swivel arm down to compress the ground coffee.

  • Release the release handle.
    The swivel arm is engaged.

  • Press the button.
The preset amount of water for coffee flows into the cup. The pressure that builds up while the coffee is brewing may cause the swivel arm to rise slightly and then re-engage in the next notch.
To stop preparation, press the , or button.

  • Operate the release handle and pull the swivel arm up.

  • Turn the swivel arm to the fill position.
The coffee grounds are automatically transported to the coffee grounds container.

Permanently setting the amount of water for the cup size
It is easy to permanently adjust the amount of water for both speciality coffees to the cup size. This setting only needs to be made once.
Every time you prepare a drink in the future, this amount will be dispensed.
What to do: Prepare a speciality coffee as described in the section above, but keep the preparation button pressed until there is enough coffee in the cup. Then release the button. Preparation stops and the symbol flashes twice as confirmation. The set amount of water is permanently stored.
**** You can alter this setting at any time by repeating the above procedure.
