Machine Description
This manual describes 4 JURA machines: JURA Micromotor, JURA Graver, JURA Graver Plus and JURA Graver Pro.
Micromotor
The JURA Micromotor is an advanced tool designed for high torque and precise
drilling operations. It combines a powerful brushless micromotor with the slim
NSK E Type hand piece to be able to work with hard metals like platinum and
titanium. The JURA Micromotor includes a bench top holder for the cable,
preven.ng the cable pulling and ensures a more comfortable working experience.
The motor is rated at 7.8 N cm, enabling consistent low-speed drilling at the
desired speed.
JURA Graver
The JURA Graver is a pneumatic graver with build in air compressor that powers
the hand piece during the engraving. The hand piece can be quickly modified by
switching out the piston to allow for a wide variety of engraving styles. The
piece can be controlled through either the foot pedal or a rota.ng dial on the
cabinet.
JURA Graver Plus
The JURA Graver Plus comes with both the brushless micromotor from the JURA
Micromotor as well as the hand piece from the JURA Graver.
JURA Graver Pro
The JURA Graver Pro further expands on the JURA Graver Plus by adding both a
cold air blower and a hot air blower. The cold air blower can be used to clean
the work piece from dust while the hot air blower can be used for hea.ng and
souring the Shellac kit and/ or Thermo-Lock®. A separate small compressor is
with a minimum of 5 Bar air pressure is required to use both the cold and hot

MICROMOTOR HAND PIECES
JURA Tools offers the EQ.14.01 The JURA Slim Nose Pave Hand piece for Micro
pave diamond Seung. The JURA Slim Nose Pave Hand piece Is the lightest and the
shortest handpiece that reduced strengthening of your hand while making long
hours doing the finest pave work. With max. 35.000 rpm, this hand piece is
designed for delicate pave work with
recommended ball bur size up to 2mm. Jura recommends:
For Drill Bits & Ball Burs 3-4000rpm.
For Cylinders & Tapered Burs 5-6000rpm.
For Fine Polishing a. 15000rpm (Use only with well centered, high quality
steel mandrills!)
For Seung Large stones and using ball burs from up 2mm, we recommend the
EQ.14.02 JURA High Torque Handpiece.
By reducing the speed, this hand piece enables you max control and power while
working with larger burs.
For polishing, we recommend the EQ.14.03 Heavy duty hand piece (included with
the Micromotor).
To mount the bur, insert it into the chuck and turn the Bur Lock Ring in the
direction of the mark [C] until it clicks and the Black Dots align (see Figure
4.3). To remove the bur, turn the Bur Lock Ring in the direction of mark [O]
until it clicks.
Figure 4.3: Micromotor bur moun.ng instructions
Make sure that the position is always in the locked position when you start
working. Pressing the pedal of the micromotor, without any drill/bur fixed in
the hand piece chuck, will damage the hand piece bearings or cause possible
injury. Please ensure, the hand piece chuck is completely locked when placing
the drill/bur.
Do not drop the
hand piece as it may get damaged or break. This might cause vibration of the
bur, overhea.ng or damaged bearings. Replace the hand piece for a new in such
case. Always use the Micromotor Top Bench holder to prevent the hand piece
from falling or cable damage.
Hand piece might
get stuck on the micromotor due to constant vibration. Disconnect the
micromotor hand piece once a month from the motor and put it back on to
prevent it from geeing fixed too tight. The hand piece disconnects from the
micromotor by a quick pull. They do not screw together, they are a friction
fit. Never connect or disconnect the hand piece until the motor has completely
stopped.
Drills & Burs: The JURA Tools® Micromotor hand piece is suitable for
drills, burs or mandrills with a diameter of Ø 2,36mm. We strongly recommend
to use high quality drills, burs or mandrills for your micromotor. Cheap
versions are not properly centered and will also cause damage to the bearings
of your micromotor hand piece. The drill or bur might get stuck in the chuck
if being used over a very long .me or high force. We recommend to take out the
drill or bur regular and fix it back into the chuck. Use lubricant for
extending life/endurance of your drill and burs.
The Micromotor
can overload due;
-
Using burs larger than Ø 2mm over a long period of .me.
-
Not using prober lubricant for drills/burs
-
Using wrong ally of drills/burs for the type of metal that needs to be worked on.
-
Using cheap drill/ burs or mandrels.
ENGRAVING HAND PIECE
The “Power” boron on the control box regulates the stoke power of the
engraving hand piece. The “Speed” boron is responsible for Seung a maximum
speed depending on your work. Turn the power boron all the way to the leer for
the finest Seung and power up slowly until the preferred power is reached. The
rage is three complete turns. By pressing the pedal, the hand piece will start
exhilara.ng strokes per minute from 0-up. Finding the right sarongs is very
personal. Find the right power and speed for the chosen piston and spring for
your particular kind of work. Many variations are possible!
Always use the Universal Hand piece holder to prevent the hand piece from
falling or cable damage. Be careful not to drop the hand piece as it may get
damaged or break.
Handpiece operation: Unlike traditional or push engraving where a firm
grip and manual forward force is required, the JURA pneumatic hand piece
requires only a light grip and guidance. Relax, allowing the engraving system
to move the tool forward and through the material with guidance. Most graver
slips are due to manual hand pushing and an overly firm grip on the hand
piece. Holding the hand piece with the graver is similar to holding a dinner
knife. For stippling,
hammering, or similar techniques, position the hand piece similar to holding a
pencil.
Maintenance: Depending on the intensity of your work, once in a while the
hand-piece must be cleaned with alcohol. Open the hand piece and clean the
ways, piston and spring with a cogon stick and alcohol. Make sure all parts
are dry before Phuong the parts together again. Do NOT use any lubricants
inside of the hand piece!
Pistons & Springs: The set includes a 4 and 6 grams piston. 2x Ø8mm
Spring 0,5 & 0,4mm wire, 35mm long. The 4 grams piston offers you the option
to tune the power for finer engraving work. Meanwhile the 6 grams piston will
allow you to do deeper cuing, working on harder metals and perform hammering.
The spring regulate the force. Harder spring will naturally slow down the
stroke. Simply replace the piston and or spring and reassemble. The piston has
a round end. The round end MUST face the nose or it will NOT work properly.
Do not
oil/lubricate inside of the hand piece and prevent greasy hands while changing
the spring and/ or the piston!
Quick changes: The JURA Engraving Hand piece comes with a set of 10pcs of
Quick changes. The Quick changes are designed for the most efficient working
method. The included colour coding allows you to recognize your gravers by
type. The Quick change organizer will allow you to keep them organized and
easy to search for the graver you need while holding the organizer underneath
the microscope. Insert the graver into the .p of the quick change and fix it
with the supplied 1,5mm hex key to stay in place. Additional Quick changes are
sold per set op 10pcs on
www.juratools.com/shop.
A set of several O-rings are included for the hand piece and the quick changes
for maintenance purpose.
Carbide gravers: The engraving hand piece is suitable for JURA original quick
changes only and gravers with a diameter of Ø2,36mm. A properly sharpened
graver or similar tool is required to cut through the surface of metal and
other materials. The quality of the cut will depend on how well the gravers
are sharpened, how well the machine is programmed, as well as the surface used
to engrave on. Sharpening gravers is a very delicate job that requires
professional skills and experience!
Set of Pre-sharpened Carbide gravers contains; Flat, 30º, 45º, 60º, 75º, 90º
and 120º. The final shape of your graver depends completely on the type of
your work. Shaping of the gravers must be done with Diamond Wheels offered on
www.juratools.com/shop.
The JURA Carbide Gravers are made from a special grade of carbide for impact
usage. This carbide will cut materials of greater hardness and toughness than
hardened steel gravers and is also suitable for use on sorer materials. Even
impact-resistant grades of carbide are subject to point failure and must be
sharpened in a manner that produces a durable point.
It is recommended to use a set of diamond polishing wheels for shaping, polishing and gung of the gravers.
- SG.DP.YW: Yellow / Fine
- SG.DP.BE: Blue / Medium
- SG.DP.BK: Black / Rough
- SG.DP.CW: Cuing Wheel
These polishing wheels can be purchased at www.juratool.com/shop
Grinding of any inserts will produce dust of potentially hazardous ingredients. Dust from grinding this product can cause nose, throat, skin and eye irritation and temporary or permanent respiratory disease in a small percentage of exposed individuals. Permanent respiratory disease can lead to disability or death. Coolant mist from wet grinding may contain dust.
-
Avoid breathing dust or mist.
-
Avoid prolonged skin contact with dust or mist.
-
Use adequate ven.la.on when grinding.
-
Maintain dust level below OSHA and ACGIH levels.

hea.ng and shortening the Shellac kit and/ or
Thermo-Lock®. STOP hea.ng these materials once the right temperature and
substance is achieved. The slim nose is suitable to work precisely on your
piece while looking through the microscope.
This item does
need a small compressor, only for the air guns. Make sure that the JURA Hot
Air Gun is properly connected to Air Supply and the Compressor is switched on
and set on minimum of 80 psi / 5,5 bar. Beware, despite of the safety fuse,
Lower air pressure might damage/ burn the hea8ng element. Never use the Hot-
air Gun without the minimum required air pressure.
For cold air pull the trigger half way. And for hot air pull the trigger all
the way. The gun heats up to 60 °C. Area use let go of the trigger half way
and wait for the a few seconds until the air starts cooling down.
The JURA Hot Air Gun comes standard with 4mm tube. Depending on your
situation, you might need a custom connector. Please contact your local
hardware store for advice or contact Jura at
info@juratools.com.
Do not connect
the Hot Air Gun to any other device rather than straight to the Compressor or
the JURA Graver Pro.
Do not overheat these materials, you could be burned and/or release
undesirable fumes. Extreme overhea.ng could start a fire. Do not touch these
materials with bare hands if overheated, let it cool first. The Hot Air Blower
nose will get hot during hea.ng. Always place the blower back into the holder.
Never touch the nose until it fully cools down.
JURA AIR BLOWER
The JURA Air
blower is part of the Graver Pro system. This blower is very suitable for
cleaning your piece and bench from dust. This item does need a small
compressor, only for the air guns. We advise to use the JURA oil free minicom
pressor. Low noise level a. 45dB, this compressor is most silent in it’s
category and very well suitable in a small workshop or even workplace at home.
Never blow into the eyes. Beware that dust / small (metal) parts from your
piece/ desk can get into your eyes. Use proper eye protection!
