Product Information
The product is a Model 27-230 (HID, SK) unit designed for mounting, wiring, and setup of automatic gates. It includes various components such as a 12-V AC/DC Adapter, Carriage Bolts, Hex Nuts, and a Key. The unit has Digital Input Terminals for connecting accessories, Wiegand Terminals for wiring to Wiegand devices, and Power, Relay, Event Terminals for wiring to power, gate operator or door opener, and request-to-exit devices. The unit also features Relay Status LEDs and a Reset Button for performing reset procedures. It is important to note that the unit can cause serious injury or death if not used properly.
Product Usage Instructions
- Unpack the box and ensure that you have received all the items mentioned in the manual.
- Unlock and open the front panel of the unit for mounting, wiring, and setup.
- Mount the unit to a pedestal using the provided mounting hardware. Ensure you use all four carriage bolts for proper installation. Leave the antenna in place and seal all openings created in the enclosure. Failure to follow these instructions can result in damage to the unit or incorrect functioning.
- Connect the wires by feeding them through the back of the unit and following the wiring diagrams provided in the manual. Use the included screwdriver to connect the wires correctly.
- If you are not using the included 12-V AC/DC adapter, follow the procedure mentioned on Page 4 for using a third-party power source. Make sure to choose a compatible power source not exceeding 24 VAC/DC to avoid damaging the unit.
- For using a third-party power source, connect the wires to the unit as shown in Step 4. Connect the wires from your power source, ensuring positive to positive and negative to negative connections. Be cautious not to reverse the polarity, as it can damage the unit.
Always remember to check that the gate path is clear before operating the unit. Reversing or other safety devices should always be used to ensure safety. For further details and specific wiring instructions, refer to the complete user manual.

Unlock and open front panel of unit for mounting, wiring, and setup.
Mount unit to pedestal using included mounting hardware. (This step may be completed later.)
WARNING
- AUTOMATIC GATES CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH!
- ALWAYS CHECK THAT THE GATE PATH IS CLEAR BEFORE OPERATING!
- REVERSING OR OTHER SAFETY DEVICES SHOULD ALWAYS BE USED!
CAUTION
- Use all four carriage bolts when mounting the unit to a pedestal.
- Leave the antenna in place.
- Seal all openings created in the enclosure.
- Failure to follow these instructions can damage the unit and/or cause it not to function correctly!

CAUTION If the included 12-V AC/DC adapter will not be used, please go to Page 4 and follow the procedure, Using a Third-Party Power Source. Do not exceed 24 VAC/DC! Failure to choose a compatible power source can damage the unit!

Downloading the Edge Smart Keypad App for iOS/Android
The Edge Smart Keypad app is for ADMINISTRATOR USE ONLY and is not intended
for users.
- Grab your smartphone or tablet. (These steps are optional. Unit can be fully programmed from keypad.)
- Navigate to your app store, and search for “edge smart keypad.”
- Find the Edge Smart Keypad app by Security Brands, Inc. and download it.

Pairing Edge Unit
Connecting your mobile device to your Edge unit for use with app. The app is available for administrators who want to use it. Nearly all functionality is available through direct programming via the keypad.
IMPORTANT! Make sure your Edge unit is powered on and that Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device or pairing will not work.
- Step 1 – Grab your mobile device and open the Edge Smart Keypad app. If you do not have the app, follow the steps on this page for downloading it.
- Step 2 – Fill out your account information and tap the “Sign Up” button. If you have already created an account, you will log in instead.
- Step 3 – On the Paired Keypads screen, tap the “Add Keypad” button.
- Step 4 – On the Add Keypad screen, tap the Edge unit you want to pair. If you do not see any Edge units listed, make sure your Edge unit is powered on and is in Bluetooth range.
- Step 5 – Complete the procedure shown on your mobile device. These steps will be completed using the PIN pad on your Edge unit.
- Step 6 – Enter the Master Code (default is 1251) on your mobile device.
- Step 7 – Enter the code shown on your mobile device at the Edge unit. This step must be completed within the time duration displayed.
- Step 8 – Change your Master Code if you like. This step is recommended, but optional, and can be done at a later time.
Your new Edge unit is now be paired and will appear on the Paired Keypads screen. Tapping on the Edge unit on this screen will give you access to relay control and full access control management of the Edge unit from within the app.

*The Star Key ()**
If a mistake is made, pressing the star key deletes your entry. Two beeps will sound. -
The Pound Key (#)
The pound key is good for one thing and one thing only: exiting programming mode.

Reset Procedures
NOTE: If an error is made during these procedures, an “error” tone will sound, and you must start again from the beginning.
Master Code Reset
This procedure will reset the Master Code to the default value. No other
stored data will be affected.
- Step 1 – Open front panel on unit.
- Step 2 – Locate, press, and hold Factory Reset (FAC. RST.) Button. Hold down for about 10 seconds until three (3) beeps sound.
- Step 3 – While still holding Factory Reset (FAC. RST.) Button, press star key (*) on keypad three (3) times. Unit will sound good tone if successful.
- Step 4 – Release Factory Reset (FAC. RST.) Button.
The Master Code is now reset to the default value (1251).
Unit Reset
This procedure will reset the unit back to factory settings. It will erase all
codes and timers in memory and reset the Master Code back to the default
value.
IMPORTANT! THIS PROCEDURE WILL RESET THE UNIT TO FACTORY SETTINGS AND
ERASE ALL STORED INFORMATION, INCLUDING CODES AND TIMERS!
- Step 1 – Open front panel on unit.
- Step 2 – Locate, press, and hold Factory Reset (FAC. RST.) Button. Hold down for about 10 seconds until three (3) beeps sound.
- Step 3 – While still holding Factory Reset (FAC. RST.) Button, press pound-star-pound (#*#) on keypad. Unit will sound good tone if successful. Release Factory Reset Button.
- Step 4 – Enter Master Code (default 1251) on keypad. After about 15 seconds, unit will start sounding a continuous cycle of tones to indicate all data has been deleted.
- Step 5 – Power off unit and immediately power back on.
The unit is now reset to factory settings.
