ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS. READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE STARTING.
We strongly recommend that all direct-wired lighting products be installed by a licensed electrician. Two people may be required for installation. DO NOT EXCEED the rated bulb wattage. Keep flammable materials away from bulbs. This light fixture is shipped with all internal wiring intact. Do not open the product or alter the wiring in any manner.

Installation requires an electrical junction box in the wall sufficient to support the weight of the light fixture. This fixture weighs: 1.5lbs. (0.68 kg).

WARNING: Be certain that the power to the electrical junction box is turned off at the circuit breaker before installation. Turning the power off at a light switch is not sufficient to prevent electrical shock.
CAUTION: Prior to installation, locate All INCLUDED PARTS before disposing of packaging materials.

Assembly Procedure (refer to the figure)

  1. SHUT OFF THE MAIN ELECTRICAL SUPPLY FROM THE MAIN FUSE BOX/CIRCUIT BREAKER.
  2. Remove all the parts from the carton. Do not throw away any parts.
  3. Attach the MOUNTING PLATE (G) to the WALL OUTLET JUNCTION BOX (A) using the JUNCTION BOX SCREWs (I). Align the slots of the MOUNTING PLATE (G) with the two threaded holes located on the WALL OUTLET JUNCTION BOX (A). Use a screwdriver to tighten each screw until the MOUNTING PLATE (G) is firmly secured to the WALL OUTLET JUNCTION BOX (A).
  4. Carefully inspect the wall sconce fixture wires. The NEUTRAL FIXTURE WIRE (J) is white. The HOT FIXTURE WIRE (K) is black, and the bare copper wire is the GROUND FIXTURE WIRE (F).
  5. If you have any doubt and cannot identify the power supply wires with confidence, please contact a certified electrician to finish the installation of your fixture.
  6. Gently pull existing wires from the WALL OUTLET JUNCTION BOX (A) and allow wires to hang. The HOT or LIVE wire is usually black. The NEUTRAL wire is usually white. The GROUND wire is most commonly bare copper, if not, the GROUND wire has green insulation or is green with a yellow strip. If needed, use a pair of wire strippers to remove about 1/2 inches of insulation from the end of each wire.
  7. Attach the GROUND FIXTURE WIRE (F) from the fixture to the GROUND JUNCTION BOX WIRE (B) from the WALL OUTLET JUNCTION BOX (A) and secure these with the WIRE NUTs (E) by twisting the connector in a clockwise direction and wrap the connection with electrical tape. If your WALL OUTLET JUNCTION BOX (A) DOES NOT have a GROUND JUNCTION BOX WIRE (B) be sure to insert the GREEN GROUND SCREW (H) into the MOUNTING PLATE (G) marked as “GND”, facing front and wrap the fixture bare ground wire around the GREEN GROUND SCREW (H). Tighten the screw to clamp the ground wire between the ground screw head and the MOUNTING PLATE (G). IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT THE WALL OUTLET JUNCTION BOX (A) IN YOUR HOME BE PROPERLY GROUNDED!
  8. Connect the NEUTRAL FIXTURE WIRE (J) to the NEUTRAL JUNCTION BOX WIRE (D) (usually white insulation). Fasten each together with a WIRE NUT (E) by twisting the connector in a clockwise direction and wrap the connection with electrical tape. Be sure that no wire strands are exposed.
  9. Connect the HOT FIXTURE WIRE (K) to the HOT JUNCTION BOX WIRE (C) (usually black insulation). Fasten each together with a WIRE NUT (E) by twisting the connector in a clockwise direction and wrap the connection with electrical tape. Be sure that no wire strands are exposed. DO NOT REVERSE THE HOT AND NEUTRAL CONNECTIONS OR SAFETY WILL BE COMPROMISED.

Care Instructions

  1. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
  2. AVOID cleaners, harsh chemicals, scouring pads, etc. as these may cause damage to the sconce finish.

After troubleshooting, if the light fixture still does not work, contact your local Ethan Allen Design Center.
