IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE STARTING
We strongly recommend that all direct-wired lighting products be installed by
a licensed electrician. Two people may be required for installation. DO NOT
EXCEED the rated bulb wattage. Keep flammable materials away from bulb. This
light fixture is shipped with all internal wiring intact. Do not open the
product or alter the wiring in any manner.
Installation requires an electrical junction box in the ceiling sufficient to
support the weight of the light fixture. This fixture weighs 54.3 lbs./24.7
kg.
WARNING: Be certain that the power to the electrical junction box is turned off at the circuit breaker before installation. Turning the power off at a light switch is not sufficient to prevent electrical shock.
CAUTION: Prior to installation, locate ALL INCLUDED PARTS before disposing of packaging materials.
TOOLS REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION:
- Screwdrivers
- Electrical Tape
- Wire Cutters
- Pliers
- Wire Connectors
- Adjustable Wrench
Additional wiring supplies may be required.
Note: Lightbulb(s) are not included, except where required by State of California Title 20. See light fixture for bulb specification.

Assembly Procedure (refer to figure)
- SHUT OFF THE MAIN ELECTRICAL SUPPLY AT FUSE BOX/CIRCUIT BREAKER.
- Remove all parts from carton. Do not throw away any parts.
- Remove Mounting Bar (B) from canopy (E) by loosening Collar Ring (F).
- Affix Mounting Bar (B) to ceiling outlet box with Mounting Bar Screws (C) provided
- Tighten the clutch (T) of bottom tier with screw (R) using a screw driver while put the safety wire (I) inside the clutch carefully. Note there are 8 Joints over the bottom tier to repeat this step.
- Tighten the bottom clutch (T) of top tier with screw (R) using a screw driver while putting the safety wire (I) inside the clutch carefully. Note there are 4 Joints to repeat this step.
- Loosen the loop (J) and take out Plate(K) and Mid Ring (L). Guide safety wire through the clutch part attached on bottom plate (M), tighten the top clutch (T) with screw (R) using a screw driver. Tighten the safety wire key (N) by moving it to the wire exit. If you need to move back the safety wire key (N), pushing the Safety wire key knob while move it.
- Put back the Mid ring (L) and Plate (K) and tighten with Loop (J).
- Link the chain (H) of desired length to loop (J) using quick link (G). Thread Tube with loop (D) with quick link (G).
- Guide wiring from loop (J) through chain (H) every third link all the way through collar(F), canopy(E) and loop(D).
- Guide safety wire (I) through the Mounting Bar(B) and tighten the Safety wire key (N).
- Make proper electrical connections as described in steps 13-16. A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN IS RECOMMENDED.
- Attach ground wire from fixture (green or silver in color) to ground wire from junction box. Fasten wires together with Wire Nut (A) and tightly wrap connection with electrical tape. Make sure that no wire strands are exposed. If your ELECTRICAL JUNCTION BOX DOES NOT have a GROUND WIRE, be sure to insert the closest GROUND SCREW (V) into the MOUNTING BAR (B), marked as “GND,” facing front, and wrap the fixture’s bare GROUND WIRE around the GROUND SCREW. Tighten the screw to clamp the GROUND WIRE between GROUND SCREW (V) head and MOUNTING BAR (B). IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT THE JUNCTION BOX IN YOUR HOME BE PROPERLY GROUNDED!
- Trim excess wire and save a 6” length of each color to be used as spare wires in the hot and neutral connections described in steps 15-16 .
- Connect 4 hot wires (black) from the fixture together with the black spare wire and twist with a wire nut (A). Gather the remaining three hot wires from the fixture and use an additional wire nut (A) to connect them to the spare wire from the first grouping, and the hot wire (black in color or smooth side of wire) from the junction box. This series of successive wire nut connections ensures that there are no more than 5 wires per twisted wire nut connection. Tightly wrap both hot connections with electrical tape. Make sure that no wire strands are exposed
- Connect 4 neutral wires (white) from the fixture together with the white spare wire and twist with a wire nut (A). Gather the remaining three neutral wires from the fixture and use an additional wire nut (A) to connect them to the spare wire from the first grouping, and the neutral wire (white in color or ribbed side of wire) from the junction box. This series of successive wire nut connections ensures that there are no more than 5 wires per twisted wire nut connection. Tightly wrap both neutral connections with electrical tape. Make sure that no wire strands are exposed. DO NOT REVERSE THE HOT AND NEUTRAL CONNECTIONS OR SAFETY WILL BE COMPROMISED.
- Carefully push the wire connections back into the ceiling junction box. Lift the Canopy (E) to the ceiling and secure it to the Mounting Bar (B) with the Collar Ring (F).
- Remove the socket ring (P) , put the shade (O) onto the socket (Q) and secure with socket ring (P). Repeat for all shades.
- Install proper lightbulbs into sockets.
Care and Cleaning
- Wipe with a soft dry cloth.
- AVOID cleaners, scouring pads, etc.
After troubleshooting, if the lighting fixture still does not work, contact your local Ethan Allen Design Center.
