Frequently Asked Questions

Is it an air mouse? I have a few different ppt files to present, I do not have to walk back to my laptop and click the next ppt if it is an air mouse.

I don’t know what you mean by air mouse, but it is a gyro mouse that recognizes your movements and can click and select remotely. It will work for ppt, but if that is all you are using it for, I would recommend a dedicated presentation remote instead. This would be better suited for someone teaching and interacting with multiple PC apps.

Will this start a video in a PowerPoint presentation?

It probably can, if the video will start with a mouse click, because it has left and right mouse-click buttons. It also has a way to move the mouse around, but that’s a little hard to do, so it’s better if you design the slide so that a click anywhere will start the video.

I am looking for a remote that is always on. Do you need to push a button to turn it on?

This particular Gyroscopic mouse does have an on/off switch. If that is what you mean by ‘always on.’ You still do need to push the buttons, like on a typical mouse, in order to initiate some action. e.g. left or right mouse clicking. This device also needs to be ‘recalibrated’ every time the presenter physically moves from one side of the room to the other using the laser pointer feature, but the basic ‘pointing,’ like a mouse, stays on as long as you do not power down the IOGear device.

Can you change the cursor size and color? so the cursor can point to objects within a presentation on a flat screen tv and be seen from far away?

The Cursor size and color and be changed through your Windows Control panel same as any mouse connected. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

Can you purchase just the USB dongle for this item and resync it?

 The GME430R and GME435G USB receivers cannot be purchased separately.

Does the cursor control work when pointed at a TV (like a laser pointer), as opposed to being pointed at the computer screen being controlled?

Work when pointed at TV. like a traditional Laser Pointer.

Does the pointer/mouse work from 60ft as advertised without a line of sight?

I’ve never used it at that distance.

Does this work on a multiple monitor setup connected to the same computer?

Yes the GME430R will work across your monitors as long as the display is set to extend.

Can I use it on my android TV box?

Hi, yes with the proper cable you may use this great tool.

Are there programmable buttons on the mouse? For instance to allow me to change cameras while in Zoom?

This pointer doesn’t allow you to program the buttons on the mouse.

Can I press a button on the remote to turn the screen black?

 No you cannot turn the screen black by pressing a button on the GME430R.

No you cannot black out the screen with the GME430R

How do I install/start using it on a Mac Book Air? I have turned on the device but the computer does not detect the device.

When you turn off the mouse control does it just turn off the gyro or does it also deactivate the Left and Right mouse click buttons?

Just turn off the gyro.
