Do the eco bee work with an ac unit and humidistats?
ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium, SmartThermostat Enhanced1, smart thermostat with voice control, ecobee4, and ecobee3 support most common HVAC accessories such as humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and ventilators.
Is this new model backward compatible with the old style sensors?
The old sensors will work in the ecobee app but will always show “No Response” in home kit. Can’t even remove them from the home kit. Very annoying.
Will this work as a heat pump?
Yes, and a humidifier.
Does this have a fan-only mode where the fan can be turned on without heating or cooling?
Yes
Do you need the sensor for a two-story single-zone system if you have an open floor plan?
I would use one and the premium comes with one as well.
If i have separate ac units upstairs and downstairs, so i need 2 of these? or will one work both?
We have 2 exobees – one for upstairs and one for downstairs. Each one replaced the existing thermostat. I control both ecobee from the app.
Does this light up red like an evil angry ai when Alexa is turned off?
The microphone is replaced by a red symbol when the microphone is turned off. Nothing is red if you don’t connect it to Alexa in the first place. The microphone is too good. From the next room over the Alexa on the thermostat responds even when I have an echo Within 3 feet of where I’m sitting.
If there are two people in the household, can each of them control the thermostat remotely through their cell phones?
Yes they can. However, there is a primary account. This account would then invite others to join the home. That wa,y anyone who has been given access by the primary account would be able to control the thermostat.
Does the premium USE weather info? or is it just info for us to look at?
Just to look at. But will give you invites in the IQ web tab.
What does the “air quality” sensor actually monitor? I can find no information.
The air quality monitor detects VOC ( volatile organic compounds) and indirectly it measures CO2.

Will two intelligent thermostats synchronize for a dual-zone system? I have two thermostats, zone 1 first floor, and zone 2 second, and third floor.
I have three ecobees and three zones. I can group them in the ecobee app, but they do not interact.
Can the screen be locked, preventing annoying non-residing family members from changing the temps of they’re too cold?
Yep, you can lock it with a security code.
Can the air quality monitor trigger an HRV to turn on if the air quality hits a certain threshold?
Mine had not done that, but you do get a push notification on your phone that air quality has dropped significantly, with recommended actions. I personally don’t find this too helpful as it is less than ideal to open a window when is super hot outside.
Can I control homekit accessories through the ecobee? e.g., will “hey Siri, turn on the kitchen light” work if I have such a light in my home it home?
Yes. Just run through the setup and Siri will be up and running. It’s just a little slower than using Siri on a phone or HomePod. But hardly noticeable.
Can you turn off the radar occupancy sensor?
If you look in the app you can turn off the follow me function. From my understanding, it turns off the sensor.
Can i program the thermostat to run the fan at certain times of the day?
Yes, you can. It’s under schedule in the app.

No, you can ask Alexa to lower or raise but not for a period of time.
