Risk Assessment
- Assess the immediate work area for any hazards
- Control or eliminate all the risks associated with the hazards
- Hazards to check for that may require risk control-

General Safety Instructions
- Complete pre-start checklist

- Report any faults or damage to Flexihire 1300FLEXIHIRE
- Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery
- Do not operate equipment near pedestrians or people
- Do not operate without the appropriate PPE as detailed
- Do not operate equipment under the influence of drugs or alcohol
General Engine Safety
- Refuelling – Do not smoke, or introduce ignition source, always turn engine off and allow engine to cool first, relieve fuel pressure by loosening cap slowly, wipe clean any fuel spills prior to re-start, If fuel spilled on clothes change clothes, ensure cap is replaced & store fuel vessel away from work area
- Do not breathe fuel vapour& replace cap securely after fuelling
- Do not operate engine without adequate ventilation
- Beware of hot surfaces on engine & other parts
Operating Safety Instructions

Ensure you are familiar with the emergency stop, engine shut down procedure and braking systems. Ensure Emergency stop and battery isolator is set to operate prior to entering cab.

Ensure you always maintain 3 points of contact climbing in and out of roller, beware of door pinch points & test it opens from inside. Never mount roller whilst it is moving.

Ensure articulation lock is removed prior to normal operation

Always wear seat belt and be seated during operation

Do not operate loader if you have do not have vision as required by yourstandard Drivers Licence
Do not operate roller with any passengers
Do not operate roller unless you are competent to operate -
If Applicable ensure Vibration / amplitude switch is set to “OFF” prior to staring and especially during loading or unloading

Plan work area & set mirrors prior to operation

Do not operate plant in confined spaces

Never use petrol as a cleaning agent on roller

ROPS (Roll over protection structure) is always recommended on slopes and if damaged cease work immediately and contact Flexihire
-
Do not operate roller until hydraulic fluids have reached operating temperature as breaking distance impacted
-
Battery isolator located in engine compartment. Engine hood must be unlocked during operation so the isolator can be quickly accessed.

Never climb on roller
-
Test the parking brake prior to operation – while rolling slowly in the forward direction engage brake – roller must stop – if failure tag out machine immediately
-
If fitted with a strike off blade – only use in the forward direction and when not using always operate with the blade in the upper most position

If the machine tips – do not jump, brace yourself, stay in cab, keep seatbelt fastened, hold on and lean away from point of contact

Never open the radiator cap when the engine is running or hot
-
Do not operate near a trench, gulley, valley or drop off in the ground & Avoid driving across a slope and never drive on a slope greater than 20 degrees or 36%. Use lowest gear on a slope.

Ensure segregation from general traffic flow and pedestrians. It is recommended to maintain a 3m exclusion zone

Avoid sharp turns

Beware of soft, damp and wet soils that may give way
-
Do not operate near a trench, gulley, valley or drop off in the ground & Avoid driving across a slope, exercise care and never drive on a slope greater than 20 degrees or 36%

Do not adjust amplitude during operation – stop first
-
When driving close to unsafe edges or holes, ensure at least 2/3 of the drum width is on firm ground
-
Ensure parking brake is engaged prior to leaving roller
-
Do not park roller on uneven ground
-
Read Operation Manual prior to servicing or towing
-
All hydraulic lines and fluid cooling systems are pressurised so never open, cut or damage lines
-
Only approved service personnel to work on air conditioning as it contains harmful gases and high pressure
-
Prior to Service or working on Roller lock out articulation, tag out roller, remove keys, chock wheels and drums
-
If lifting roller ensure articulation lock is engaged prior to lift
-
For transporting, ensure the roller is secured to the truck in line with the Australian Load Restraint Guide 2018.

Secure seat prior to operation and always close door on cab prior to operation
-
Never operate or start the machine from outside the cab or seat as you could move the controls the wrong way and cause serious injury.

Maintain proper tyre pressure – refer manufacturer specifications
