Newell C8 Smart Battery Charger
Before using the product, please read the following instruction manual carefully and keep it for future reference. When transferring the product to a third party, it is advisable to include the instructions.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

The unit is only designed for Li-ion, IMR, ICR, LiFePO4, and Ni-MH/Ni-Cd batteries. Never use the device with other types of batteries, as this may result in explosion, rupture, or leakage, causing property damage or personal injury.

The safe temperature for using the device is -10~40°C, and for storage, is -20~60°C.
Do not expose the device to direct sunlight, heating devices, or open flame.
Avoid extreme ambient temperatures and sudden temperature changes. -
Never use batteries with leaks, enlarged or swollen, damaged outer cover or casing, altered or distorted color, rusted or otherwise damaged.

Never use disposable alkaline, zinc, lithium, CR123A, CR2, or any other batteries with the device!

Make sure the correct program and settings are selected. Incorrect programs
or settings may damage the device and cause fire or explosion. -
Do not leave the working device unattended. In case of improper operation
of the device, disconnect the power source. -
Do not dismantle the device, and do not disassemble the charger components.
This may lead to damage to the device or even explosion. In case of a malfunction, contact the service center. -
When the charger is not in use, remove the batteries from it.

Dispose of the user device according to the guidelines of the manual.

LCD DISPLAY FUNCTIONS
With a large LCD display showing voltage, amperage, time charging, mode, battery type, resistances, capacity, and percentage of charge, you can easily determine the parameters and status of the charging process. The backlight goes off after 1 minute of inactivity.
USING
- Plug in the power cord.
- Place the battery in any charging channel. The charger will automatically recognize the type of battery (except LiFePO4/4.35V Li-ion) and will start detecting the battery data, which it will then show on the LCD display.
- The charger will automatically select the charging current based on the internal resistance of the battery.
- Press briefly to switch between channels 1-8. Then the backlight is automatically turned on.
LiFePO4/4.35V Li-ion type batteries are not detected automatically. In order to charge this battery, you have to manually select its type! Otherwise, it will be charged like a 4.2V Li-ion battery. This may consequently lead to the explosion of the battery!
Selecting the battery type
Place the battery in any channel, quickly press twice, the symbol of the
battery will blink, and press briefly to change the type. Press and hold to
finish or wait 5 seconds.
Charge current selection
Press and hold until 8.88A on the display starts flashing. Press as you move between different charging current values. Press and hold to confirm the selection or wait 5 seconds.

Programming function of all channels simultaneously
Press and hold to enter all-channel mode. This is symbolized by flashing all channel numbers. The charger will automatically exit this mode after 5 seconds of inactivity.
- Press and hold to select the charging current.
- Quickly press twice to change the battery type.
Note: The mode only supports channels with batteries in them.
NiMH / NiCd type batteries cannot be selected in this mode.
Capacity measurement by charging

Place a battery in any charging channel. The device will automatically calculate the charging capacity of the battery.
When ” m A h ” is flashing – the value given corresponds to the current capacity of the battery.
When ” m A h ” is displayed continuously – the given value corresponds to the total capacity of the battery. -
Tip: place discharged batteries in the charger, after charging is completed, m A h means the total capacity of the battery.

Battery Activation
The charger has functions to activate an over-discharged lithium battery. When
the battery is placed in the charging channel, the charger will automatically
detect the faulty cell and activate it. If this is not possible, the charger
will classify the cell as damaged and display a message and stop charging.
Rebuilding a 0v lithium battery
If a 0V lithium battery is detected, the charger will start the restoration
process, charging at a low amperage until it is in the correct form. When the
restoration process is complete, the charger will go into normal charging
cycle mode. If the battery voltage does not increase for a long time, the
charger will classify the cell as defective and display a message and stop
charging.
Automatic termination of the charging process
When the battery is fully charged, the LCD will display. The charger will
automatically terminate the charging process to prevent the battery life from
being shortened by overcharging.
Charge level measurement of NiMH/NiCd battery pack – Δv method
In the process of charging NiMH / NiCd batteries, the device uses the – ΔV
method to assess the charge level of the cell as accurately as possible. This
allows the maximum capacity to be obtained and at the same time prevents
overcharging.
Battery detection and error codes
- Battery check – Battery inserted with incorrect polarity
- Short circuit – The corresponding charging channel blinks and a message is displayed
- Charging will start only when the battery is placed according to the polarity.
