  • Signal strength indicator I (3)
  • Battery status indicator (4)
  • Power/scan button (5)
  • Battery compartment cover (6)

Getting Started

  1. Open the battery compartment cover (6) and insert a battery according to the correct polarity. Close the cover.

Calibration

Place the device flat against any surface that is free of studs, metal, and AC cables. Press and hold the Power/scan button (5) until the red (1) and green (4) indicators flash and the beeping sound is heard. The calibration is complete when the green light is on. Do not move the device until the calibration is complete. Wait for 3 seconds after the calibration is complete before using the device. Calibration must be done every time the device has been turned on for use.

Usage

To use the device, place it against a wall and press and hold the Power/scan button (5). Move the device slowly along the wall and observe the center indicator (1) and signal strength indicators II (2) and I (3). The center indicator will light up when a stud, metal, or AC cable is detected. The signal strength indicators will show the strength of the detected object. If you are receiving erratic scanning results, it may be a result of humidity, moisture within the wall cavity or drywall, or recently applied paint or wallpaper that isn’t fully dried.
