Dear customer,
congratulations on purchasing a high-quality product . You have chosen a smart temperature and humidity sensor that will help you to always have the current temperature and humidity in view in your home.

Before First Use

Before using the device for the first time, read the user manual and safety instructions carefully.
Keep the operating instructions together with the device for later use . If other people use this device, make this manual available to them . If you sell the device, these instructions are part of the device and must be supplied with it.

Explanation of Symbols

The following symbols are used in this manual, on the device or on the packaging.

Safety Instructions

• Connect the product to the power only when the input or power supply voltage matches the specifications on the rating label on the product.

• Do not insert any objects into the product.

• Do not store any objects on the product.

• Do not drop the product or subject it to violent shocks.

• Protect the product from moisture. Do not touch it with wet / damp hands and do not immerse it in water.

• Do not use the product in the rain or in wet environments.

• Do not use or store the product in high or low temperatures or in enclosed spaces with direct sunlight . Do not use the product in ambient temperatures above 50° C or below -10 °C.

• Ensure sufficient ventilation during operation. Never cover the product.

• If the product is used in ambient temperatures that are too cold or too hot, it will switch off automatically.

•  Keep the product and accessories away from open flames, hot surfaces and highly flammable materials.

• Do not expose the product to excessive heat from other heat sources .

• Do not use the product near flammable gases or liquids as this may cause an explosion .

• The product is not a toy . Keep the product, accessories and packaging materials away from children and pets to prevent accidents and suffocation.

• Caution! Danger for children and persons with limited physical, sensory or mental abilities (e .g . partially disabled persons, older persons with limited physical and mental abilities) or lack of experience and know-how (e .g . children over the age of three) . The product may be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and know-how if they are supervised or have received instruction concerning use of the product in a safe way and understand the potential hazards arising from its use.
  Children must not play with the product . Do not allow children to clean or care for the product . Keep children under the age of eight away from the product and accessories.

• Do not use the products if they are visibly damaged or if the cable is defective.

• If the product or accessories are damaged, they must be replaced or repaired by the manufacturer, its customer service or a similarly qualified person in order to prevent hazards.

• The product must not be opened and repairs must only be carried out by a specialist . Contact a specialist workshop for this purpose . All liability and warranty claims are excluded in the event of repairs by the user, improper connection or incorrect operation.

•  Have the product checked by an authorized service center if a problem occurs. You are not allowed to disassemble the product in case of malfunction. Otherwise, your warranty will be voided.

• If you sell the product to another person, also pass on these operating instructions to that person.

• Use the product only for private use and not for commercial use .

Safety Instructions for Batteries

• Use only the battery listed in this manual.
• Read and follow the manufacturer‘s warnings and instructions.
• Observe the correct polarity of the battery and insert it accordingly . Do not attempt to install the battery in the opposite direction.
• Do not charge the battery.
• Do not short-circuit the battery.
• Do not place the battery in fire or heat it.
• Do not open or damage the battery.
• Do not store, charge, or use battery in very high or low temperatures or very low air pressure (such as high altitudes).
• Keep battery out of the reach of children and animals.
• Remove and dispose of used battery from the product immediately.
• Do not allow battery to enter the environment . It may contain toxic and environmentally harmful heavy metals.
• When battery is empty, it can easily leak . Thereof- re, to avoid product damage, please remove the battery when the product is not used for a long time or when the battery is empty .
• If the battery leaks and the liquid in the damaged battery comes into contact with skin or clothing, rinse them immediately with plenty of water .

Operation

Activating the Battery in the Temperature and Humidity Sensor

• Turn the battery compartment cover to the left with the help of a screwdriver or a coin and remove it from the battery compartment.
• Remove the protective tab under the battery type CR2032.
• Place the battery compartment cover on the bat- tery compartment according to the three notches and turn it to the right to lock it in place with the help of a screwdriver or a coin.

Inserting/Replacing the Battery in the Temperature and Humidity Sensor

• Turn the cover of the battery compartment to the left with the help of a screwdriver or a coin and remove it from the battery compartment .
• Remove the empty battery type CR2032 from the battery compartment .
• Insert a new battery type CR2032 into the battery compartment . Pay attention to the correct polarity of the battery type CR2032 .
• Place the battery compartment cover on the battery compartment according to the three notches and turn it to the right to lock it in place with the help of a screwdriver or a coin.

Attaching the Temperature and Humidity Sensor

• Select the desired location to which the temperature and humidity sensor is to be attached.
•  Make sure that this location is not directly near windows, doors, heaters, bathrooms, kitchens or other sources of heat, cold and humidity, and is not covered by furniture or  textiles in order to obtain the most unaltered temperature and humidity measurements possible . Also make sure that the location is out of the reach of children and animals.
• Clean the location, so that the adhesive surface of the temperature and humidity sensor adheres well.
• Attach the temperature and humidity sensor to the desired location using the adhesive surface . If you want to attach the temperature and humidity sensor to a vertical location, place it with the sensor opening facing down.
• Press the temperature and humidity sensor for a few seconds so that the adhesive surface adheres well.

Setting up the App

• Search for the free ”Smart Life“ app in the App Store or Google Play Store, or scan the appropriate QR code.
• Download the app to your smartphone or tablet .

• Launch the app on your smartphone or tablet.
• If you already have an account with ”Smart Life“, tap ”Use an existing account“, enter your user information and follow the further instructions.
• If you don‘t have a “Smart Life” account yet, tap ”Create a new account“ and follow the further instructions.

Connecting the Temperature and Humidity Sensor to the App

• Note: To connect the temperature and humidity sensor to the app, you need a gateway . This is included in the Rollei Smart Thermostat Starter Set. The gateway must be connected to the app before the temperature and humidity sensor can be connected to the app.
• Press the reset/pairing button on the temperature and humidity sensor for approx . 5 seconds until the ZigBee LED flashes.
• Tap on ”Add sub-device“ in the user interface of the gateway in the app.
• Tap on ”LED is already flashing“.
• When the temperature and humidity sensor is found, tap on it and then tap on ”Finish“ .
• When the temperature and humidity sensor is successfully connected, the ZigBee LED will turn off.

Resetting the Temperature and Humidity Sensor

• Press the reset/pairing button for a few seconds until the ZigBee LED flashes . Thereupon, the temperature and humidity sensor will reset . After the successful reset, all stored data is deleted.

Dispose of the packaging according to its type. Use the local possibilities for collecting paper, cardboard and other materials (applicable in the European Union and other  European countries with systems for the separate collection of recyclable materials).
Devices that are marked with this symbol must not be disposed of with household waste! You are legally obliged to dispose of old devices separately from to dispose of household waste . Information on collection points that accept old appliances free of charge can be obtained from your local authority or town council.
