Soluna 300 Continuous LED Light

Before the First Use
Read the operating instructions and the safety instructions carefully before using the device for the first time.
Keep the operating instructions together with the device for future use. If other people use this device, make this manual available to them. If you pass on the device to a third party, this manual belongs to the device and must be supplied with it.

Intended use

This unit is designed for use as photo and video lighting only.
It must not be used for other purposes and in particular not for domestic room lighting.
Explanation of Symbols
The following symbols are used in this manual, on the LED light or on the packaging.

Products marked with this symbol comply with all relevant community regulations of the European Economic Area.
Products marked with this symbol are operated with alternating current.

Power Supply

Insert the supplied power cord into the power cord connector of the continuous light.
Press the on/off switch to position „I“ to switch on the LED light. In position „O“, the light is switched off.

Compatibility of Accessories

The LED permanent light is equipped with an umbrella holder for reflex/transmitted light umbrellas and the Bowens S-type mount for the use of various light shapers (softboxes, reflectors, beauty dishes, etc.).
Insert the light shaper with the three bayonet pins into the corresponding recesses on the LED lighting head and lock it by turning it briefly to the right until it audibly clicks into place.
To remove the light shaper, pull the mount release button to the rear, turn the light shaper to the left and pull it off to the front.

U-bracket
To enable the LED light to also be mounted from above (e.g. on the ceiling), the unit is attached using the useful U bracket. You can loosen the knobs on the sides, turn the bracket around and mount it again from above. This ensures that the heat is still reliably dissipated.

Brightness

After power on, turn the adjustment knob clockwise to increase the brightness and counterclockwise to decrease the brightness.
The brightness can be adjusted between 0% and 100% in 1% increments.

Lighting Effects
You can use the LED permanent light to create various lighting effects. To do this, briefly press the light effect mode button to access the effects. By briefly pressing the light effect mode button again, you can now choose between the different modes:

TV flicker
Flickering light bulb
Fireworks
Thunderstorm mode
Flashing mode

After selecting the desired lighting effect, briefly press the adjustment knob to set the effect. Press once to access the brightness setting, press again to access the frequency setting. By turning the setting knob at a time, you can adjust the brightness between 0 – 100% and the frequency between 1 – 10. 1 describes the slowest and 10 the fastest frequency.

Modes 1 and 2 run continuously, modes 3, 4 and 5 play short light sequences. To start them, briefly press the lighting effect start button.
To switch off the lighting effects, press the return button.

Settings Menu

Press the Menu key to display the Settings menu.
Briefly press the setting button to scroll through the options.
When an option is selected, the icon turns green. Turn the setting knob to select the setting, confirm by briefly pressing the setting knob and press the return key to return to the menu.

The settings menu contains the following options:

Fan: Auto / On / Off
Communication: Radio signal over 2.4 GHz / Bluetooth* / DMX
Reset Bluetooth*: Yes / No
Factory settings: Yes / No

Cooling

You can switch the cooling system of the LED light on or off. To do this, go to the settings menu and switch off the cooling system via the first setting point. The symbol in the display indicates whether the cooling system is switched on or off.
Please note that when the cooling system is switched off, the LED light can only be operated at a maximum output of 30% to protect it from overheating. This reduced power is nevertheless indicated as 100% power.

External Control

In the settings menu, you can select whether you want to control the LED light by 2.4 GHz radio signal, Bluetooth ® * or DMX control. The relevant symbol appears in the top left-hand corner of the display.
2.4 GHz radio signal: this LED permanent light is compatible with the Soluna Remote Control. With the 2.4 GHz radio signal set, you can use the rotary knob to set the channel and group.
By briefly pressing the setting knob, the channel display starts flashing and you can set one of 32 channels (00 – 31) using the setting knob.

Rollei Soluna App/Bluetooth®*

Download the „Rollei Studio“ app directly from the App Store or the Google Play Store (iOS 9.0 or higher, Android 5.0 or higher).
Connection with the smartphone

Activate Bluetooth® * on your smartphone.
Switch on the Rollei Soluna 300 and activate Bluetooth®* in the settings menu.
Open the „Rollei Studio“ app and the connection to your smartphone will be established automatically.
Note: If you wish to connect the LED light to the app on another smartphone, go to the menu to reset the Bluetooth®* signal.

Note:

The connection is established using „Bluetooth® * Low Energy“ (BLE). For this, a location release of the app is required. The connection to the LED light is produced directly in the app.

Pressing the setting knob again causes the group display to start flashing and you can use the setting knob to set one of 16 groups (A – J / L / O / P / Q / S / U).
Confirm the settings by pressing the setting knob.
When using radio remote controls, note that for correct operation, the radio channel and the group must be set identically on each LED permanent light and on the remote control. It is also possible that not all functions can be set with the remote control.
Note that the radio frequency (2.4 GHz) used by these devices is shared with other users/devices. This means that interference cannot be ruled out. If necessary, change the radio channel to avoid interference.

Connect the LED permanent light to your DMX controller via the DMX connections ”IN“ and ”OUT“.

Safety Instructions

Danger from electric current!
Faulty electrical installations or excessive mains voltage can cause electric shock.

Only connect the product if the mains voltage of the socket corresponds to the specifications on the type plate.
Connect the product to an easily accessible power outlet so that you can quickly disconnect it from the mains in case of problems.
Use only the supplied power cord.
Do not use the product if it is visibly damaged or if the cable is defective.
If the product or its accessories are damaged, they must be replaced or repaired by the manufacturer, its service department or a similarly qualified person to prevent hazards.
The housing must not be opened and repairs must only be carried out by a qualified technician.
To do this, contact a specialist workshop. Any liability and all warranty claims are excluded in the event of repairs by the user, improper connection or incorrect operation.
Do not use the product with an external timer.
If you do not use the product for a long period of time, always disconnect it from the power source.
Protect the product from moisture. Do not touch the product with wet/damp hands or immerse it in water.
This product is not waterproof! Do not use this product in the rain or in wet environments. Never touch the product during a thunderstorm.
Before disconnecting the power, switch off the unit at the main switch.

Caution!

Never use the mains cable as a carrying handle.
Keep the product and accessories away from naked flames, hot surfaces and easily flammable materials.
Lay the mains cable in such a way that it does not present a tripping hazard.
Do not bend the power cord or lay it over sharp edges.

Disposal
Dispose of the packaging according to its type. Use the local possibilities for collecting paper, cardboard and other materials. (Applicable in the European Union and other European countries with systems for the separate collection of recyclable materials.)
Devices that are marked with this symbol must not be disposed of with household waste! You are legally obliged to dispose of old devices separately from to dispose of household waste. Information on collection points that accept old appliances free of charge can be obtained from your local authority or town council.

The product is not a toy. Keep the product, accessories and packaging materials away from children and pets to prevent accidents and suffocation.
For photographic lighting purposes only. Not suitable for permanent room lighting.
Do not film car, bus, bicycle, motorbike or train drivers while driving this product. The driver may be blinded and cause an accident. This also applies to unlisted persons or groups if possible glare could cause an accident.
Do not shine directly into the eyes of people or animals as this may cause damage to the retina, visual disturbances and even blindness.
Ensure adequate ventilation during operation. Never cover the ventilation slits of the unit.
Do not use or store the unit in high temperatures or in closed rooms exposed to direct sunlight. The product should not be used in ambient temperatures above 40°C.

Note: Only for lighting for photographic purposes. Not suitable for permanent room lighting.
