AMPIRE MBM4.24V-3G 4 Channel Power Amplifier

Precautions

  •  Pay utmost attention if you install the amplifier into the driver’s compartment.
  •  Use only in cars with a 24 Volt negative ground.
  •  Before wiring, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal to avoid short circuits or electrical shocks. Make the correct connections.
  •  Do not connect the positive and negative cables of the amplifier to the original cables of the car because of its low capacity.
  •  Do not damage pipe or wiring when drilling holes.
  •  Arrange the wiring so it is not crimped or pinched by a sharp metal edge.
  •  Do not install the amplifier in locations that might hinder vehicle operations and do not install in locations with any moisture. Use the installation materials provided with the amplifier.
  •  Do not use bolts or nuts in the brake, airbags or other safety-relevant systems to make ground connections.
  •  Warning! Amplifiers may produce sound pressure levels that exceed the threshold at which hearing loss may result. They may also impair a driver’s ability to hear traffic sounds or emergency vehicles. Practice safe listening when listening to your audio system. When the amplifier works in particularly hard conditions, it can research up to 90°C. Make sure its temperature is safe before touching it.

Environmental Reference

  •  Old electronic devices do not belong in the garbage can.
  •  If you later want to dispose of this device, remove all cables and batteries and dispose of them separately at a recycling facility in your area.
  •  Alternatively, you can return this device to Ampire for disposal.

RCA inputs
RCA inputs for channels 1-4. Can be used also as high-level inputs using the supplied adapters (speaker inputs).

Turn on the switch
If the amplifier is operated via RCA (low level), this switch must be set to “Radio Remote”. If the inputs are used as ” high-level” with an adapter (Switch 3 pushed), the amplifier can be operated with the remote line (REM) or auto turn on (only for head units with BTL amplifier). For automatic activation the Turn On switch must be set to the ” DC Sense” position.

Low-level / high-level switch
If the amplifier is controlled via RCA (low level), this switch is not pushed. If the amplifier is controlled high-level (via adapter), this switch must be pushed.

Level controls for channels 3 &4
Adjusts the volume of channels 3&4

HPF controls for channels 3 &4
Adjusts the high-pass frequency of channels 3&4. Only active when switch 6 is in the HPF position.

Crossover switch for channels 3 &4
Switches channels 3&4 to full-range or high-pass mode.

Remote connection
Connection for the bass level remote control of channels 1&2. Only active when switch 12 is in the LPF (BPF) position.

Input selector switch
If this switch is not pressed, all four inputs are active. When pressed, only inputs 1&2 are used. Input 3 then takes over the signal from input 1 and input 4 takes over the signal from input 2. This is helpful if you want to use the amplifier for a partially active system, for example.AMPIRE-MBM4.24V-3G-4

Output switch
This switch determines the signal flow. In the 4CH position, all outputs correspond to the inputs. This means that output CH1 receives its signal from input CH1, etc. (note the special feature when switch 8 is pressed). In the 2CH position, only the inputs CH1 and CH2 are automatically active. Input switch 8 is automatically deactivated and has no function, just like the HPF and level controls of channels 3&4, which are also deactivated. All settings are now only made with the controller for channels 1&2. The signal flow is:

  • Input CH1> output CH1 and output CH2
  • Input CH2> output CH3 and output CH4

Level controls for channels 1 &2
Adjusts the volume of channels 1&2

HPF controls for channels 1 &2
Adjusts the high-pass frequency of channels 1&2. Only active when switch 12 is in the HPF position.

Crossover switch for channels 1 &2
Switches channels 1&2 to full range, high pass, or band pass mode.

LPF (BPF) – controls for channels 1 &2
Only active when switch 12 is in the LPF position. In this switch position, a bandpass is created for channels 1&2. The HPF controller 11 determines the lower limit frequency, the LPF controller 13 the upper limit frequency of the outputs 1&2.Please make sure that the LPF frequency is not set lower than the HPF frequency. Otherwise no sound will be played! When set, the bass remote control can also be plugged into remote connection 7 and used.

Rear Panel

Speaker terminal
Connect channels CH1 and CH2 to your speakers. Pay attention to the right polarity. To bridge both channels, only use the outputs CH1+ and CH2-.Connect channels CH3 and CH4 to your speakers. Pay attention to the right polarity. To bridge both channels, only use the outputs CH3+ and CH4-.Attention! The speaker cables must not be grounded on the body. The connection impedance must not be lower than 2 in stereo or 4ΩΩin bridged mode.

LEDs
The Power LED lights up green when the amplifier is in operation. The Protect LED lights up red when the protection circuit is working.

Power connection

  •  GROUND: Connect the GND connection to the vehicle ground (vehicle chassis). Use a cable cross-section of at least 10mm². The ground cable should not be longer than 1m.
  • REM: Connect the remote connector to the remote output of your radio.
  • 24V: Connect this connection to the “+”(plus) pole of the battery. Use a cable cross-section of at least 10mm². Be sure to install a fuse at a maximum distance of 30cm from the battery to protect the power cable!

Fuses
The fuses are located in the device and can be accessed by removing the bottom plate. These fuses protect the amplifier against internal electrical interference. Always replace the fuses with others of the same value and please have the replacement carried out by a specialist.

Crossovers

  •  The crossover switches are in the FULL position on default. That means, all channels amplify the complete frequency band from 20Hz – 20kHz.
  •  The output switch 9 is set to 4CH.

High pass channels CH3 & CH4

Set switch 6 to HPF to activate the high pass. Use the HPF control 5 to set the required high-pass frequency. The control range is 50Hz – 5kHz. Use the level control 4 to determine the volume.

High pass channels CH1 & CH2
Set switch 12 to HPF to activate the high pass. Use the HPF controller 11 to set the required high-pass frequency. The control range is 15Hz – 500Hz. Use the level control 10 to determine the volume.

Bandpass channels CH1 & CH2
Set switch 12 to LPF to activate the bandpass. High pass active as described above. Use the LPF control 13 to set the low-pass frequency. The control range is 50Hz – 5kHz.
