Product Usage Instructions

Before beginning, refer to the Ford Color Coded Illustrations in the OEM manual for more information.

1. Remove the rear door trim panel by referring to the Rear Door Trim Panel section in the manual.
2. Remove the adhesive tape covers.
3. If your vehicle has manual windows, partially install the window crank handle and lower the rear door window glass. If your vehicle has power windows, partially install the rear door window control switch and lower the rear door window glass.
4. Remove the bolts from the rear door window glass.
5. If your vehicle has manual windows, raise the rear door window glass and tape it in place. If your vehicle has power windows, remove the rear door window control switch, raise the rear door window glass, and tape it in place.
6. Remove the rear door carrier by referring to the Exterior Rear Door Handle section in the manual.
7. Remove the screw from the exterior rear door handle reinforcement, remove the retainers from the rear door latch, and remove the rear door latch.
8. To install the new rear door latch, reverse these steps

All vehicles

1. Remove the rear door trim panel. Refer to: Rear Door Trim Panel .
2. Remove the adhesive tape covers.

Vehicles with manual windows

3. Lower the rear door window glass.
4. Partially install the window crank handle.
5. Lower the rear door window glass.

Vehicles with power windows

4. Lower the rear door window glass.
5. Partially install the rear door window control switch.
6. Lower the rear door window glass.

All vehicles

5. Remove the bolts from the rear door window glass.
   Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

Vehicles with manual windows

6. Raise the rear door window glass and tape the rear door window glass in place.

7. Remove the front door window crank handle.

8. Raise the front door window glass and tape the front door window glass in place.

9. Remove the rear door carrier.
   Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

Vehicles with power windows

8. Raise the rear door window glass and tape the rear door window glass in place.

9. Remove the rear door window control switch.

10. Raise the rear door window glass.

11. Tape the rear door window glass in place.

12. Remove the rear door carrier.
    Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

All vehicles

10. Refer to: Exterior Rear Door Handle .

11. Remove the rear door latch.

12. Remove the screw from the exterior rear door handle reinforcement.

13. Remove the retainers from the rear door latch and remove the rear door latch.
    Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

14. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
    Remove the exterior rear door handle reinforcement.

15. Detach the cable from the exterior rear door handle reinforcement.

16. Remove the cable eyelet from the exterior rear door handle reinforcement.

17.  Remove the exterior rear door handle reinforcement.

18. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
    Remove the latch screws, disconnect the cables and remove the front door latch.

19. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
    Remove interior rear door handle cable from the rear door latch.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > REAR DOOR LATCH > INSTALLATION

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
2. If the door is equipped with one-touch up, the power window motor must be initialized. Refer to:
   Power Door Window Initialization – Vehicles With: One-Touch Open and Close Driver Window/OneTouch Open and Close Front Windows .
