Product Information

The TCL mobile phone comes with a 6.6-inch screen and rear dual cameras with an LED flash. It has a micro-USB connector, a headset connector, and a power key on the side. The phone supports dual SIM cards and has a slot for a microSD card. It also has a front camera for taking selfies. The phone runs on Android and comes with pre-installed applications such as Phone, Contacts, Messages, and Gmail.

Product Usage

  1. Charging the battery: Charge the phone’s battery before using it for the first time. Connect the phone to a power source using the micro-USB connector.
  2. Inserting/removing the microSD card: To insert or remove the microSD card, locate the slot on the side of the phone and use a SIM ejector tool to push the tray out. Insert or remove the microSD card as required and push the tray back in.
  3. Inserting/removing the SIM card: To insert or remove the SIM card(s), locate the slot(s) on the side of the phone and use a SIM ejector tool to push the tray(s) out. Insert or remove the SIM card(s) as required and push the tray(s) back in.
  4. Making/receiving calls: To make a call, open the Phone app and enter the phone number or select a contact from your saved contacts. Tap the call icon to place the call. To answer a call, swipe right on the incoming call screen. You can also reject a call by swiping left and sending a preset message.
  5. Managing contacts: Use the Contacts app to view or edit your saved contacts. You can also create a new contact or synchronize your contacts from your email accounts and other applications. Tap on a contact’s name or icon to open their contact card, where you can call them or edit their information.
  6. Sending/receiving messages: Use the Messages app to send and receive SMS and MMS messages. You can attach media files, add a subject, or use an email address for a recipient. Tap the send icon to send the message.
  7. Managing emails: Use the Gmail app to manage your emails. You can add multiple email accounts, create and send emails, and access email folders and settings.
  8. Home screen: Customize your Home screen by adding your most frequently used apps, shortcuts, and folders for quick access. Swipe down from the Status bar to view your notifications and access Quick Access settings.

Getting started

  1. Charge the battery
  2. Insert or remove the microSD card.
  3. Insert or remove the SIM card.

Home screen

  • You can bring all of the items that you use most frequently (applications, shortcuts, folders) to your Home screen for quick access.
  • Tapping Home always takes you back to the main Home screen.
  1. Swipe down from the Status bar to view the Notification panel and access all pending notifications. Swipe down again to view Quick Access settings options.
  2. Tap to access the complete Settings menu.

Calls

Making a call

  • From the Phone app, use the keypad to enter the phone number, or the keyboard to enter the contact name. Then tap to place the call.
Answering a call
  • When you receive a call:
  • Tap ANSWER, or swipe up the icon to answer;
  • Tap DECLINE, or swipe down the icon to reject;
  • Tap to reject the call by sending a preset message.

Contacts

  • Use Contacts to view your saved contacts or create a new contact. Synchronize your contacts from your email account(s) and other applications to your phone.
  1. Tap to search for a contact.
  2. Tap to select multiple contacts for bulk editing, such as adding a label to the contact.
  3. Tap to view all the contacts saved on your device.
  4. Tap on the contact name or icon to open the contact card, where you can edit their information, call them, and more.
    • Touch and hold to share or delete the selected contact(s).
  5. Tap to create a new contact.

Messages

  • You can create, edit, send, and receive SMS and MMS.
  • An SMS will be converted to MMS automatically when media files (image, video, audio, slides, etc.) are attached when a subject is added to the message, or an email address is used for a recipient.TCL-405-Smartphone-FIG-12
  1. Tap to send the SMS or MMS message.
  2. Touch and hold to switch language.
  3. Insert an emoticon, pictures or videos from gallery or shoot one directly, or share a contact.
  4. Tap to input a comma. Touch and hold to access keyboard settings, input an emoticon, and enter left or right hand input mode.
  5. Tap to access the symbols and numbers keyboards.

Gmail

Use Gmail to create, send, and receive emails directly on your phone. The Gmail app will allow you to add several email accounts.

  1. Manage accounts.
  2. Tap to access email folders, settings, and more.
  3. Swipe right or left to archive the email.
  4. Tap to create an email.

Update your phone’s software

  • Go to Settings > System > System updates to check software updates.

Back up your personal data

  • Go to Settings > System > Backup > Back up to Google Drive and turn it on.

Reset your phone

  • Go to Settings > System > Reset > Factory data reset > Reset phone > Erase everything.

Removing your Google Account

  • Go to Settings > Accounts > tap on the account > Remove Account.
