VASCO 11VE44260 Electric Preheater Installation Guide
Introduction
The preheating element is specified for installation in a Vasco ventilation system. In mutual operation, it enables outside air to be heated to a desired target temperature. The max. target temperature is limited by the max. heating power of the preheating element and depending on the supplied air temperature and flow rate. Since this serves as a preventive device, it has no on/off switch. The resident must ensure in case a power plug on the appliance is present this is always plugged into the socket and that the socket is live.
Safety
Electrical components
Only the professional installer is authorized to install the preheating element. The installer must use the appropriate tools for each work. The electronic components of the preheating element may be under electrical voltage. Do not touch the appliance during employment, risk of burns and fire. In the event of a defect, contact a professional installer and have repairs carried out only by expert personnel.
Safety instructions
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are supervised or have instructions regarding the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Children of less than 3 years old should be kept away unless continuously supervised. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, after- sales service or persons with similar qualifications to avoid danger. The user is responsible for the safe disposal of the preheating element at the end of its service life, according to the locally applicable laws or regulations. You can also return the appliance to a collection point for used electrical appliances.
Maintenance
The preheating element should be periodically inspected for contamination. Before inspection, the ventilation unit and in case of relevance the preheating element must be switched off by removing the power plug(s) from the socket(s). The preheating element contains heated parts. If you unplug the appliance(s), the appliance will remain hot, so wait approx. 10 minutes after removing the power plug(s) for the preheating element to cool down.
Make sure that the power plug(s) cannot be plugged back into the socket(s) by anyone else before you have finished your work. Do not insert the power plug(s) into the socket(s) until the preheating element and all parts are installed.
Guarantee
Vasco is not liable for damage caused by failure to observe the safety instructions or by not following the instructions in the manual. The warranty conditions can be found on page 23 of this manual.
Maintenance
Vasco advices to clean the electric preheating element every 4 years.
- Remove the plugs of the ventilation unit and the preheating element from the sockets.
- Wait 10 minutes for the preheating element to cool down
- Take the preheating element off the installation
- Clean the metal elements inside the preheating element*
- Reinstall the preheating element onto the installation
- Put the plugs of the ventilation unit and the preheating element back in the sockets.
*Cleaning can be done with pressurized air and/or a small brush. Do not use any chemical/liquids cleaners.
Failure to perform the maintenance work on time will ultimately result in the appliance no longer functioning optimally.
Technical information
The preheating elements essentially consist of an insulated PTC heat register that is built into a housing consisting of metal and plastic. The preheating element will be controlled by the software on the circuit board of the ventilation unit.

Installation manual
Packaging content
The electric preheating element gets delivered in a box.
Remove the packaging and check the contents:
- Black power cable
- Electric preheating element
The appliance should be transported and unpacked with caution. Ensure an environmentally friendly way of disposing of the packaging materials.
Installation conditions
The customer must ensure that the supplied air does not contain any rough contaminants that could block the built-in preheating element or permanently foul it/cover it. Operation in a particle/dust-freeenvironment or use of a suitable air filter in front of the preheating element is recommended. Any unique use beyond the intended uses of the preheating element must be evaluated and assured as required by the manufacturer.
To determine whether the installation of the preheating element in a specific room is possible, the following aspects must be taken into account:
- The room must be frost-free
- The preheating element must be within 2m range from the circuit board of the ventilation unit (black power cable connection)
- The installation must be carried out in accordance with general and local regulations safety and installation regulations, including ventilation and electricity as well as in accordance with the instructions in this manual
- The following facilities must be present in the room:
- Air duct connections
- 230V ± 10%, single phase, 50Hz socket
Mounting
Installation positioning
The preheating element must be installed on the duct bringing in the air from outside into the ventilation unit.
Keep in mind that the max. distance between the preheating element and the circuit board of the ventilation unit is 2m, this for the cable connection which has to be made between the 2 devices.
The preheating element can be mounted horizontally or vertically.
Dimensional drawings
Installation
The steps on how to install any of the 3 preheating elements are as following:
Step 1) Connect the black power cable to the ventilation units circuit
board on the X17 connection. Use the black swivel as transit for the black
cable in the metal casing of the ventilation unit as seen on the images below.
Step 2) Open the preheating element cable box.
Most cables are already connected to the relay and/or wago clamps.
Step 3) Use the already foreseen black swivel to use the transit for the
supplied black cable.
Step 4) [Ongoing on the black power cable] Connect the brown phase wire
to the +A1 connector of the switching relay and connect the blue neutral wire
to the -A2 connector of the switching relay.
Step 5) Put everything nicely back into the cable box, close the cable box
on the preheating element and the installation is finished.
Plug the power cord into the socket to complete the installation.
