Safety instructions

  • Always wear a heat resistant glove to touch the stainless steel probe or the heat-resistant wire during or just after cooking.
  • Wash the stainless steel probe between uses thoroughly by hand (the probe is not dishwasher safe).
  • Keep the stainless steel probe and heat-resistant wire out of reach of children.
  • If the meat temperature is not displayed on the screen after inserting the probe into the meat, check if the probe plug has been properly inserted into the side of the transducer.
  • Do not place the main unit in direct sunlight and do not allow it to come into direct contact with moisture or hot surfaces.
  • Do not use the device in a microwave!
  • This probe should be used only for measuring the temperature of meat and poultry. It is not suitable for measuring oven temperatures.
  • Do not immerse the probe in water. Moisture inside the probe plug or thermometer could result in incorrect temperature readings. Always wipe the probe plug before connecting it to the transmitter.
  • Do not expose the probe or probe wire to open flames or to grilling. Otherwise, the probe can be damaged.

Inserting batteries into the main unit

  1. Remove the battery compartment cover at the back of the device.
  2. Insert two 1.5V AAA batteries as indicated and replace the battery compartment cover. Pay attention to the correct polarity of the contacts.
  3. Set the power switch at the back of the device to “ON” position.

Inserting batteries into the transmitter unit

  1. Remove the battery compartment cover at the back of the transmitter.
  2. Insert two AAA batteries as indicated and replace the battery compartment cover. Pay attention to the correct polarity of the contacts.
  3. Set the switch at the bottom of the transmitter unit to “ON” position.
  4. Once the transmitter is turned on, a red LED on the transmitter flashes 3 times and the current temperature is displayed on the main unit. The time and the current temperature are displayed on the monitor.

NOTE: If the probe is not connected to the transmitter, then the current temperature is shown as “—“.

IMPORTANT : The transmitter sends the temperature every 30 seconds if the temperature does not change. The transmitter is automatically updated as soon as the temperature changes.

Usage

Program selection

To select the type of meat that you want to cook, press the “MEAT” button repeatedly until the desired type of meat is shown in the thermometer display. The display shows the type of meat which is necessary for the measurement.

Cooking level selection

Press the “TASTE” button to select the cooking time for the meat you want to cook. The different cooking levels are:

WELL / M WELL / MEDIUM / M RARE / RARE – the corresponding preset temperature is displayed on the monitor as “Target temperature”.

Selecting the temperature manually
  1. Press and hold the “MODE” button for 3 seconds. The “Target Temp” then starts to flash.
  2. Press the “MIN” or “SEC” buttons to set the temperature.
  3. Press the :MODE” button to confirm the setting.
  4. NOTE: Once the desired temperature is reached, you hear a beep and the “CURRENT TEMP” display starts to flash.
  5. Press the “MODE” button to stop the alarm temporarily.
  6. To switch off the alarm, remove the probe from the meat.

Placing the thermometer

Insert the tip of the probe into the thickest part of the meat. The probe should be
placed at the side of the meat. This ensures that the meat can be turned during cooking.

Avoid touching bones, fat or cartilage. Insert the long stainless steel probe into the meat and guide the heat-resistant wire away from the meat. Never place the transmitter in an oven or grill.

Changing between °C and °F

Press the “MODE” button briefly to change between Celsius and Fahrenheit.

Count UP and Countdown function (up and down counters)

The up and down counters work independently of the temperature sensor.

  1. Press the START / STOP (S/S) button when 0:00 is displayed on the monitor to start the count up timer.
  2. Set the minutes and seconds first to start the countdown timer. Press the “MIN” button to set the minutes and the “SEC” button to set the seconds.
  3. Press the “S/S” (Start / Stop) button to start the countdown timer.
  4. To reset, please press the “CLEAR” button
  5. Once the countdown is over, MIN:SEC display flashes on the screen. Press any button to stop the alarm.

Safety instructions and disclaimer

Never try to open the appliance to repair or make modifications. Avoid contact with the mains voltage. Do not short-circuit the product. The device is not approved for outdoor use. Therefore please use it only in dry surroundings. Protect it from high humidity, water and snow. Keep the product away from high temperatures. Do not expose the product to sudden changes in temperature or strong vibrations, as this could damage the electronic components. Check the product for any damage before using it. The product should not be used if it was subject to impact or has been damaged in some other manner. Please comply with the local regulations and restrictions. Do not use the product for purposes other than those described in the user manual. This product is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children or mentally disabled persons. Any repair or modification to the product, which is not carried out by the original supplier, will void any warranty and guarantee claims. The product should be used only by persons who have read and understood this user manual. The specifications of the product may be changed without any special prior notification.

Disposal instructions

Instructions for battery disposal

The symbol of the crossed-out dustbin means that the battery should not be disposed of in household waste.
