Usage

5.1 Boiling water

Turn the lid (8) counter-clockwise to the left to open it. Fill the kettle with cold water and replace the lid. Note: A scale is provided on the outside. Do not fill the container above the maximum mark. The boiling water may spurt out if the kettle is overfilled. Make sure that the total quantity of water is only 1 l when brewing tea. The minimum quantity of water is 500 ml. When boiling water normally, the maximum quantity of water is 1.7 l. Then place the kettle on the base plate.

Next to the display on the base station, buttons are provided for selecting different water temperatures and for selecting the desired tea brewing time. Press the “Up” and “Down” buttons of the individual temperature setting (12) and the individual time setting (13) to make the desired settings. You can find out more about making tea in the chapter “Boiling tea”.

Press the “ON/OFF” button to start the boiling function subsequently. As soon as the water reaches the set temperature, the kettle switches off and you hear two beeps. Please remember that the boiling process may be interrupted briefly below 100°C by intermediate measurements. Please wait until the boiling process is finished. That is confirmed by the audible signal. The heating element switches off automatically and the boiling process is stopped. The appliance can now be lifted and the water can be used.

5.2 Boiling tea
Remove the tea sieve from the kettle and fill it with the desired amount of tea. An example for filling can be found in the table below:

Filling capacity Cups / teaspoon
500 ml approx. 2 cups / 2 teaspoons of tea
750 ml approx. 3 cups / 3 teaspoons of tea
1 l approx. 4 cups / 4 teaspoons of tea

You can select predefined programs for appropriate types of teas. To do this, press the “Tea” button (3). The currently selected tea program is displayed in the “Tea preset” field next to the status LEDs.
The options available are as follows: GREEN / BLACK / WHITE / HERB / OOLONG and CUSTOM
The default values for the corresponding settings are given in the following table:

Setting Temperature Mild Medium Strong User
Green 80°C 2 min 3 min 4 min 0-10 min
Black 100°C 1 min 2 min 3 min 0-10 min
White 85°C 2 min 3 min 4 min 0-10 min
Herbal 100°C 3 min 4 min 5 min 0-10 min
Oolong 90°C 2 min 3 min 4 min 0-10 min
Custom 70°C – 100°C 3 min 4 min 5 min 0-10 min

The option of tea type “Custom” (3) should be used if the predefined values do not give a satisfactory result, or the optimal values of the tea type used are too far from the pre-programmed values. First press the “Tea” button (3) until the “Custom” LED starts glowing and then select the desired brewing time using the “UP” and “DOWN” buttons of the individual temperature setting (12). Then check the brewing times (see 5.3 Selecting the tea Auswahl) or start the boiling process using the “ON/OFF” button.

Note: Caution! The desired tea Auswahl also has an effect on the brewing time.

5.3 Selecting the tea Auswahl
You have the option to select the tea Auswahl that affects the tea’s steeping time. First, use the “Auswahl” button (5) to choose between Mild, Medium or Strong.

If none of the above options give a satisfactory result, then use the “Custom” option. To do this, press the “Auswahl” button (5) until the “Custom” LED starts glowing. Adjust the brewing time using the individual time setting (13) buttons.

5.4 Keep-warm function
You can keep the tea or boiled water warm for up to 30 minutes. The keep- warm function allows you to maintain a configured temperature. To do this, press the “Warmhalten” button (2) to activate the keep-warm function. The illuminated blue status ring of the button indicates that the keep-warm function is activated. To turn off the keep-warm function, press the “Warmhalten” button (2) again. As soon as the desired heating temperature is reached, it is maintained for about 30 minutes. Press the “ON/OFF” button to interrupt this operation. If you remove the kettle from the station during the keep-warm function, the appliance is switched to standby mode.

5.5 Adjusting the brewing temperature and steeping time
You can change the preset times as desired using the “UP” and “DOWN” buttons of the individual temperature and time settings.
The temperature (individual temperature setting (12)) can be adjusted between 70°C and 100°C in 5°C increments. The brewing time (individual time setting (13)) can be adjusted between 0:00 and 10:00 minutes in 30 seconds increments.

5.6 “AUTOSTART” – function

Using this function, you can pre-program the appliance to the desired time, so that your appliance keeps the water or tea ready, e.g. in the morning for breakfast.
Fill the appliance with either water or tea and water. Always note the respective maximum filling levels. To do this, press the “AUTOSTART” button (1) until the blue status ring of the button starts glowing. The display now changes to the programming overview, which is indicated by the small clock symbol at the top of the display. In addition, two times are shown on the display. On the left is the “CURRENT TIME”, which represents the present time. On the right, you can see the “START TIME” which represents the switch-on time. To adjust the times, press and hold the “AUTOSTART” button (1) for 2 seconds. The “CURRENT TIME / START TIME” indicators start flashing in the display. The appliance now waits 20 seconds for your input. If there is no input during this time, the appliance switches off and you will have to start the process again. Now adjust the current time. To do this, use the “UP / DOWN” buttons of the individual temperature setting (12), then the switch-on time using the “UP / DOWN” buttons of the individual time setting (13). When programming, pay attention to the 12-hour AM/PM classification (AM =midnight to noon / PM = (12 noon to midnight). Close or activate the “AUTOSTART” function by pressing the “ON/OFF” button (6). If the programming of the AUTOSTART function is successful, the status rings of the “AUTOSTART” (1) and “ON/OFF” (2) buttons glow continuously.

Changing the unit of temperature

To change the temperature unit between °C and °F, press the “Auswahl” button and the “Tea” button simultaneously for about 2 seconds.
