INTRODUCTION

The Sabrent 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub lets you quickly and effortlessly add up to 4 accessories. This hub is a fantastic travel companion thanks to its compact, lightweight design. When you need to connect numerous USB devices simultaneously, like with a printer, card reader, mobile phone, iPod, flash drive, mouse, keyboard, or an external hard drive, it’s especially useful for notebooks that only have a few ports. With USB 2.0/1.1 items, there is complete backward compatibility. There is a separate power switch for each port, allowing you to manage each one separately.

WHAT IN THE BOX

Include more high-speed USB 3.0 ports

Technology seems to be developing at an accelerating rate. You can now transfer data up to ten times faster than before thanks to the recently released SuperSpeed USB 3.0 standard! 5Gbps speeds are a significant upgrade from USB 2.0, which can only transfer data at 480Mbps. One USB 3.0 port may be expanded into four ports using the Sabrent USB 3.0 Hub, allowing you to simultaneously connect all of your USB devices. Additionally, its slim and stylish design was created to take up the least amount of space possible while you travel. Even so, you can still use it on your older devices because it is still backward compatible.

NOTE:
Please be aware that near USB 3.0 hubs or devices, 2.4Ghz wireless devices, such as wireless keyboard and mouse adapters, may not function. It is advised to use a USB 2.0 port for connection.
The combined current of the devices connected to the 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub must not be greater than 5 volts 900 mAh in order to maintain a stable connection.
An iPad cannot be charged using this 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub (it will only sync).

System requirements

  • Windows: 2000/XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10 (Both 32-bit & 64-bit versions)
  • MAC: OS X and Above

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION

Does the fact that each has a switch mean that you can just turn each of them off without doing “safely remove” or “eject” devices?

In a reply from SABRENT, they say that for any “data storage” device the Windows “Remove Safely” should be used before activating a port button to “off”. I would interpret that as a “must” if you are concerned about your data. Obviously, you can simply hit the button for devices such as speakers, mice, keyboard. But then, for those devices we usually just pulled the cord, right?

If I plug this into a 2.0 USB port on my CPU, will I still get the benefit of Sabrent’s 3.0 speed? Or is it about time I update my motherboard? Thanks

T. Freese: No. The nature of USB is that devices can not communicate among themselves. All communication goes through the host computer. So a pair of 3.0 devices sharing a hub attached to a 2.0 computer will communicate at 2.0 speeds.

I have 2 external hard drives: 1 is 500 GB, 1 is 2 TB. Both have their own power cords. Will they work with this hub?

yes, they will, I have a 3 TB WD, a 2 TB Factom, and a 1TB HP they all work fine, and any thumb drive that I plug in syncs right up. Some of the thumb drives are USB 2.0, no problem

length of cord

The cord is about 8 and a half inches from the hub to the beginning of the USB interface.

If I need to power some USB devices, e.g. a personal fan, can I use the ac adapter with this hub and not plug it into my pc?

36Watts will quick-charge tablets, with plenty left over for your fan, yes. The data card is only used to set the fan light colors

can it be used without a power adapter?

It doesn’t have enough power to run an Apple USB SuperDrive. After plugging the hub into an iMac, the SuperDrive became unusable. Plugging the SuperDrive back, directly into the iMac, made it work again. As such, this item is useless for my purposes.

I plan on connecting two portable 2TB HDDs to be permanently attached to my pc with this hub. is this ok? do they need their own power source?

I don’t think this hub would be able to support that unless your HDDs have their own power source. I connected a 64GB & a 32GB flash drive to it and I got a message in my system tray saying that enough power could not be supplied.

Will this work on PS4? I want to be able to charge my controller, and headset and have music playing on the USB stick music player. All at once.

If the hub has an external power supply and charging ports, then yes. If you plug more than one device to charge into a standard USB port the ps4 will say “too many devices plugged into a USB port”. A couple of versions of this have dedicated power ports and will charge more than one device in addition to being able to use multiple ps4 peripherals excluding hard drives. I bought the 10 port externally powered and it allowed me to plug my hard drive into the ps4, and use the other ports for headphones and controllers like arcade and flight stickssi and multaneously.

How many devises can you connect , what Amperage?

Several devices have no issues but draw matters you can add a power adapter to make it an externally powered hub. I have 3 two USB 3.0a and one in usbc. I use these on many viral USB flights controls you may need to power the many motherboards and laptop manufacturers don’t push much power to their USB. My vr headset only works on a powered hub, not even on a direct connection to the MB usb30 and 3.1. These are my favorite hubs thin and options to power. Use a dedicated USB charger as they are designed to deliver power to phones and tablets fast and efficiently. This device should be for peripherals, drives, and connections to a computer.

What is the input amperage of the power adapter?

The label on the power supply indicates 1.5A input.
