Bass Drum Assembly

  • a) Take the drum head with the ‘Music Alley’ logo and place it on the front of the bass drum. (The front is the side nearest to the leg support brackets.) Line up the logo with the top of the drum. Place a bass drum hoop over the rim of the drum aligning the four holes with the lugs around the side of the drum. Take the tension rods and thread a washer onto each one before inserting them through the hoop and screwing them into the lugs. (A spare lug insert is included if required.) Hand tighten all four tensions rods then use the drum key to tighten them further. Be careful not to over-tighten them as this could result in splitting the skin or damage to the lugs. Repeat this procedure for the other bass drum head.
  • b) Insert the bass drum spurs into the brackets near the front of the drum. Adjust them to the required length and tighten the wing nuts to secure them.
  • c) Insert the beater into the pedal and tighten the nut using the drum key. Attach the pedal claw to the hoop of the bass drum and tighten the wing nut to hold it in place.
  • Attaching the tom tom and snare drums Insert the right-angled tom tom holder into the bracket on top of the bass drum (the hole nearest the front of the drum). Tighten the wing nut to secure it in place. Fit the tom tom drum onto the holder and tighten the wing nut. Follow the same procedure to fit the snare drum. The snare drum holder fits into the bracket nearest the back of the bass drum.
  • Attaching the cymbal Insert the straight cymbal holder into the centre bracket on top of the bass drum and tighten the wing nut to secure it in place. Unscrew the wing nut at the top of the holder and fit the cymbal between the two rings of felt. Screw the wing nut back again to secure.
  • Assembling the drum throne Pull out the tripod legs and stand on a level surface. Unscrew the top wing nut and take out the bolt. Place the seat onto the tripod base and refit the bolt so it goes through the seat securing it in place. The seat can be adjusted to three different heights by unscrewing the lower wing nut.

We wish you every success with your new Music Alley Junior drum kit!
