  • Let the appliance cool down for approximately 30 minutes before handling or cleaning it.
  • The appliance is equipped with a safety micro switch inside that will shut the appliance off automatically if the basket is removed during cooking.
  • Do not fill the basket with oil as this will cause a fire hazard.

POLARIZED PLUG INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit into the polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not properly fit into the outlet at first, reverse it. If it still does not fit, contact a competent qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS

A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from becoming entangled in, or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use.

  • The electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least that of the appliance. If the electrical rating of the extension cord is too low, it could overheat and burn.

DISPLAY AND FUNCTIONS

Note: Keep in mind that these settings are suggestions. As ingredients differ in origin, size, shape as well as brand, time and temperature may need to be adjusted for optimal results.

Function Default temperature Default time
French fries 400°F 15 Mins
Wings 365°F 20 Mins
Chicken 360°F 20 Mins
--- --- ---
Fish 330°F 15 Mins
Steak 400°F 11 Mins
Cake 365°F 25 Min
Vegetables 400°F 10 Mins
Reheat 280°F 6 Mins
  • USDA recommends steak to be cooked to an internal temperature of 145°F and allow to rest for at least 3 minutes for food safety.

  • Recommended steak doneness guide:
400°F/10 mins for Rare, 400°F/10.5 mins for Medium-Rare, 400°F/ 11 mins for Medium, and 400°F/12+ Mins for Well-done. These recommendations are for an 11 oz / 310 g steak at room temperature before starting the cooking process.

  • For baking, a full cake, preheat for 5 minutes or add an additional 5 minutes to your cooking time).

BEFORE THE FIRST USE

  • Unpack the appliance and its accessories (trivet, basket). Wash the accessories in hot, soapy water and then wipe them dry. Wipe the interior of the frying cavity with a damp cloth or sponge, and then dry with a paper towel. Make sure the cavity is dry before operating the unit.
  • Position the Digital Smart Fryer on a flat, level, and heat-resistant surface, making sure that it is also positioned at least 6 inches (15 cm) away from any surrounding objects.
  • It is recommended to let the Digital Smart Fryer heat on the highest setting for about 20 minutes without any food in it. This helps to eliminate grease that may have adhered during manufacturing and to eliminate the “new” appliance smell.
  • Ventilate the room during this period. When your Digital Smart Fryer is heated for the first time, it may emit slight smoke or odor.
This is normal with many heating appliances. This does not affect the safety of your appliance.

Caution : When moving the Digital Smart Fryer, make sure that you hold it securely and support the base—do not rely on the basket handle when moving the Digital Smart Fryer!

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Preparing for use

  • Place the appliance on a stable, horizontal, and level surface. Make sure that the surface is heat resistant and that the Digital Smart Fryer is also positioned at least 6 inches (15 cm) away from any surrounding objects.
  • Make sure that the trivet is securely placed inside the basket. Use the trivet opening located in the center of the trivet to easily insert or remove it from the basket.
  • Insert the power plug into a wall socket. Your Digital Smart Fryer is now ready for use!

Caution!

  • Do not fill the basket with oil or any other liquid, as this may cause a fire hazard.
  • Never use the Digital Smart Fryer without the basket and trivet in place.
  • Keep all ingredients in the basket to prevent any contact with the appliance’s heating elements. Do not overfill the basket.
  • Do not cover the air inlet on the top or the air outlet on the back of the unit while the appliance is in use.
  • Do not touch the inside of the appliance while it is operating.
  • Never immerse the unit’s housing in water or rinse it under the tap.

Using the appliance

The Digital Smart Fryer can be used to prepare a large variety of foods. Please refer to the table in the “Settings” section for basic cooking times.

  • Pull the handle to carefully remove the basket from the Digital Smart Fryer.
  • Put the ingredients that you will be air-frying into the basket, on top of the trivet.

Note: Never fill the basket to capacity as this could affect the quality of cooking.

  • Slide the basket back into the Digital Smart Fryer.

Caution! Do not touch the trivet, basket, or the inside of the Digital Smart Fryer during or immediately after use, as they get very hot. Only hold the basket by the handle. Always use oven mitts. Unit is hot!

  • Press the Start key on the control panel to turn on the Digital Smart Fryer.
  • Press the MENU key to choose the preset you desire to cook in. Each preset will show the default time and temperature displayed on the control panel. You may touch the time/temp key and adjust by using the +/- keys.
  • After you determine the required preparation time for your ingredients, press the START key to begin the cooking process.
  • The Digital Smart Fryer will show the temperature in use and the remaining cooking time on the control display panel.
  • For better results, add 3 minutes to the preparation time when the appliance is cold or let the appliance preheat for 3 minutes without any ingredients inside.
  • During cooking, some excess oil and cooking juices from the ingredients will collect in the basket. This is to be expected. Make sure to remove the excess oil from the bottom of the basket after every use.
  • Some recipes require shaking the food in the basket halfway through the set time. To shake the ingredients, pull the basket out of the appliance using the handle and gently, but firmly, shake it. You may also use tongs to move the ingredients around. Slide the basket back into the Digital Smart Fryer and continue to cook.
  • The cooking process is complete when you hear 3 beeps from the Digital Smart Fryer. Using oven mitts and the handle, pull the basket out of the appliance and place it on a heat-resistant surface.
  • Check to see if the ingredients are ready. If they are not ready, simply slide the basket back into the appliance and set the timer for a few extra minutes.
  • Holding the basket by the handle, empty the food into a bowl or onto a plate.
  • When a batch of food is ready, it is recommended to wait a couple of minutes before the Digital Smart Fryer is ready to prepare another batch. Do not heat the Digital Air Fryer for more than an hour.

Note: Because the rapid hot air technology instantly reheats the air inside of the appliance, pulling the basket briefly out of the appliance during hot air frying will not disturb the cooking process.

Tip: Sometimes, it is easier to divide cooking times into 2 phases for recipes that require the basket to be shaken mid-cooking. If you set the timer to half the required cooking time, you will hear the timer bell go off when you must shake the ingredients. Please note that after shaking, you must set the timer again to the remaining preparation time.

Tip: If you set the timer to the full cooking time, the timer bell will not go off until cooking is completed. You can pull the basket out at any time to check the cooking condition of the ingredients. The power will shut down automatically and resume after you slide the basket back into the appliance. Note that the timer does not stop counting down in this situation.

Note: You may switch the appliance off at any time. To do so, simply press the START key.

Note: It is suggested to wait a couple of minutes for the unit to cool down before you start another cooking batch. Do not operate for more than an hour.

Caution! The trivet, basket and ingredients will be hot! Depending on the type of the ingredients in the Digital Smart Fryer, steam may escape out of the unit. Be mindful of scalding and wear kitchen gloves for safety.

Tip: To remove large or fragile ingredients, you may use a pair of tongs to lift the ingredients out of the basket. Tongs or utensils with heat- resistant plastic tips are recommended as metallic tips or utensils may scratch the coating of the basket.
IMPORTANT: If the fan is not operating once the product starts cooking (no noise or airflow), please discontinue usage immediately and contact Customer Service.

MAKING HOME-MADE FRIES

To make home-made fries, follow the steps below:

  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into sticks.
  • Wash the potato sticks thoroughly and dry them with paper towels.
  • Pour 1/2 tablespoon of canola oil in a bowl, put the sticks on top and mix until they are coated with oil.
  • Remove the sticks from the bowl with your hands or a kitchen utensil so that excess oil stays behind in the bowl. Put the sticks in the basket.

Note: Do not tilt the bowl to pour the potato sticks into the basket. Transfer them with your hands or a kitchen utensil in smaller batches to prevent excess oil from collecting on the bottom of the pan.
For best results, do not fry more than 1.2 lb. of fries per batch. Use the table settings for recommended time and temperature.

SETTINGS

The table below will help you select the basic settings for the ingredients you want to prepare.
Note: Keep in mind that these settings are suggestions. As ingredients differ in origin, size, shape as well as brand, we cannot guarantee the best setting for your ingredients.

Tips:

  • Any food that can be prepared in a traditional oven can also be prepared in the Digital Smart Fryer.
  • Shaking smaller ingredients halfway through the preparation time optimizes the result and can help prevent unevenly air-fried food.
  • A larger amount of ingredients only requires a slightly longer preparation time; a smaller amount of ingredients only requires a slightly shorter preparation time.
  • If food tends to stick to the trivet or sides of the basket, add cooking oil spray in the basket and on the trivet prior to adding the ingredients to cook.
  • Do not prepare very greasy food, such as sausages, in the Digital Smart Fryer as the grease could catch fire.
  • Add some oil to fresh potatoes for a crispy result. Wait a few minutes after you add the oil before placing your food in the Digital Smart Fryer.
  • The optimal amount for preparing crispy fries is 500 grams / 1.2 lb.
  • Use the pre-made dough to prepare filled snacks quickly and easily. The pre-made dough also requires a shorter preparation time than homemade dough.
  • Place a baking cake pan on top of the trivet to bake a cake, quiche or to air fry fragile or filled ingredients.

You can also use the Digital Smart Fryer to reheat food, by setting the temperature to 280°F for up to 6 minutes.
