Battery installation

Installation using internal rechargeable battery

  1. Prior to installing the Smart Video Doorbell, charge the battery using the included USB Cable and Power Adapter. Insert the Power Adapter into a standard wall outlet and insert the USB cable into the charging port on the side of the doorbell.
  2. Attach the Bracket to the wall with the mounting screws.
  3. Install the Video Doorbell in the Bracket and lock it with the screw.

Hardware installation

Installation using existing doorbell hardware

NOTE: Before installing the video doorbell turn off the power at the circuit breaker.

  1. Attach the Bracket to the wall with the mounting screws.
  2. Connect the Bracket with the AC supply.
  3. Install the Video Doorbell in the Bracket and lock it with the screw.

Chime Kit installation

Chime Kit installation using existing chime
IMPORTANT: It is essential to install the Chime Kit when using the Hardware option to prevent damage to the video doorbell and for it to work properly with the mechanical chime.
Find your mechanical chime which is a typically a rectangular box. It produces the sound when your doorbell is connected and pressed. It may (or may not) be mounted inside your FRONT door. Then remove the cover of mechanical chime.

Connect the mechanical chime and Chime Kit.

  1. Loosen the screw terminals.

  2. Make sure that the power supply wires have been connected to screw terminals correctly.

  3. Take out the included Chime Kit. Connect the prongs of Chime Kit to the screw terminals of mechanical chime:
    • One of prong of Chime Kit connects to the transformer terminal which is usually labeled as TRANS, T, AC, or 0.
    • Connect the another prong to screw terminals according to where your doorbell is situated. For example, if your doorbell and mechanical chime are installed in the front door, connect this prong to the front screw terminal which is usually labeled as FRONT, Fl, or C1.
    • Either prong of the Chime Kit can be connected to either of the screw terminals. There is no distinction between positive and negative.

  4. Tighten the screw terminals.

  5. Using the included double-sided tape, affix the Chime Kit to your existing chime wherever there is space and replace the cover. Be careful not to interfere with any of the existing chime’s moving parts. You can also install the Chime Kit on the outside of the mechanical chime if there is not enough space inside.

  6. Turn on the circuit breaker which connects with the Video Doorbell and mechanical chime. The status light on the Video Doorbell button will light up.
    NOTE: When using the hard wire option, select the “Mechanical Chime Type” in the “Bell Settings” menu of the Cree Lighting App after pairing the Video Doorbell to the app.

Pairing to your network
The Connected Max Smart Video Doorbell must pair to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Once paired, you can control on any Wi-Fi or cellular network. For most users, pairing will be quick and simple. But depending on the type of wireless router you have, you may need a little more information to get started. Refer to our Wireless Router Guide at creelighting.com/connectedmax for more information.

NOTE: If you need to re-select the Wi-Fi network, please press and hold the “RESET” button for 5 seconds, the device will restart, and the indicator will be flashing red.

How to pair your Video Doorbell
Download the Cree Lighting app and register your account. Open the Cree Lighting App, click “Sign Up”, read the “User Agreement Privacy Policy” and click “Agree.”

QR Code Configuration

  1. Click “Add Device” or “+” and then select “Cameras” to add Video Doorbell.

  2. The status indicator on the doorbell should be flashing quickly. If it is not, reset the Video Doorbell and then tap -Next.” Then input your Wi-Fi credentials and tap “Next.”
    NOTE: Video Doorbell only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network

  3. Next, scan the QR code on your phone with the camera, when you hear an audible prompt, pairing has been complete. Tap on 1 Heard a Prompt.”

  4. Now the Video Doorbell will pair with your network.

BATTERY SAFETY
Keep the battery and its power adapter in a well ventilated area and away from heat source, especially when in use or charging. Do not charge your battery near water or in extremely humid conditions. Do not open, disassemble, bend, deform, puncture, or shred the battery. Do not modify, attempt to insert foreign objects into the battery or immerse or expose to water or other liquids. Do not expose the battery to fire, explosion, or other hazard. Promptly dispose of used batteries in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. If dropped and you suspect damage, take steps to prevent any ingestion or direct contact of fluids and any other materials from the battery with skin or clothes.
For best results, use type Li-Ion batteries. Install only new batteries of the same type in your product. Failure to insert batteries in the correct polarity, as indicated in the battery compartment, may shorten the life of the batteries or cause batteries to leak. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix Alkaline, Standard (Carbon-Zinc) or Rechargeable (Nickel Cadmium) or (Nickel Metal Hydroxide) batteries. Always remove old, weak, or worn-out batteries promptly and recycle or dispose of them in accordance with local and national disposal regulations.
If a battery leaks, remove all batteries and recycle or dispose of them in accordance with battery manufacturer’s recommendations. If fluid for the battery comes into contact with skin or clothes, flush with water immediately.
Do not charge outdoors. The device must be charged inside in a dry area.
Safely Connecting your Video Doorbell to your Home’s Electrical Wiring
If you install the video doorbell where a doorbell is already in use and you connect the video doorbell to your home’s doorbell electrical wiring, you must turn off the existing doorbell’s power source at your home’s circuit breaker or fuse and test that the power is off BEFORE removing the existing doorbell, installing the video doorbell, or touching electrical wires. Failure to turn off the circuit breaker or fuse could result in FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, or OTHER INJURY or DAMAGE. More than one disconnect switch may be required to turn off the equipment before servicing.
To test whether you have successfully de-energized your existing doorbell’s power source, press your doorbell several time to confirm that the power is off.
If you are unsure or uncomfortable in performing this installation or handling electrical wiring, please consult a qualified electrician in your area.
