safety instructions
- This product contains a laser diode of higher class than 1. To ensure continued safety, do not remove any covers or attempt to gain access to the inside of the product.
- Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
- AC outlet voltages vary from country to country. Before connecting to the mains, make sure that the voltage in your area meets the voltage requirements printed on the power supply. The power cord is used to disconnect the unit from the mains. Make sure that the power cord is easily accessible at all times. Never handle the device, the power cord/power supply while your hands are wet or damp.
- Avoid letting liquids enter the device or the power supply. Never place any item containing liquid, such as a flower vase on or near the device. Never spill any liquid on the device or the power supply. Never place any naked flame sources, such as lighted candles on or near the device. The product shall not be used in damp or wet locations, next to a bathtub, sink, swimming pool or any other similar conditions.
Discs to avoid
If a disc is cracked, chipped, warped, or otherwise damaged, don’t risk playing it. You could end up damaging the unit. This player is designed for use with fully circular, full size CDs only. Use of shaped discs is not recommended. The manufacturer and the distributor disclaim all liability arising in connection with the use of damaged or shaped discs.
Connectors
Make all connections whilst the CD player is disconnected from the power supply. Never use any other power supply than the one supplied with the unit.
Connection to an external A/D-converter
Connect one of the digital outputs Out coax, Out opto, Out AES/EBU or i2S (Out
Sonic/Clock In) to a matching digital input on the D/A converter or AV
processor.
Out Sonic (I2S) and Clock In can be used with Pro-Ject DAC Box RS and Pro-Ject
Pre Box RS Digital only.
The cable length for Sonic and Clock connection must not be longer than 29,5
inch (75cm).
Mains power connection
Connect the low voltage plug from the power supply to the Power 20V ∀ socket before connecting the power supply to the mains.
Remote control
- To switch on from standby or to standby
- POWER turns the unit on or back into standby.
- Navigation
- The four cursor keys navigate in lists and menus.
- No and 1 – 9 access a specific folder directly.
- OK confirms a selection. List shows a list of folders on a disc.
- Folder Up steps to next folder / Folder Down steps to previous folder.
- Stop

- Play / Pause
- starts and pauses playback.
Blanked out buttons do not carry a function.
Selecting tracks
- 1 – 9 and -/– accesses a specific track directly and starts playback.
- For example, to play track 19, press -/–, 1 and 9. To play track 29, press -/–, 2 and 9.
- Stepping between tracks, scanning through the disc
- Press or . The display shows the number of the tracks as you step. Pressing while playback, starts playback of the current track from the beginning.
- Press and hold the button for fast reverse scanning. activates fast forward scanning
- Pressing Repeat repeatedly selects the repeat modes in this order:
- Repeat – repeat play for all tracks on the CD/folder.
- Repeat 1 – repeat play for the current track.
- Repeat 1F – repeat play for all tracks in the folder (acts like Repeat while CD playback).
- Pressing Shuffle repeatedly selects the shuffle modes in this order:
- Shuffle – shuffle play for all tracks on the CD/folder
- Shuffle F – shuffle play for all tracks in the folder (acts like Shuffle while CD playback).
- Pressing Repeat or Shuffle again takes the CD player back to standard playback.
Front panel controls
Selecting playback mode
MODE on the remote control toggles between the sampling frequencies 44,1 and
88,2kHz (upsampling) and Sonic2 playback mode (sampling frequency 176,4kHz).
To store Sonic2 (I2S) or select upsampling to 88,2kHz with other digital
outputs as the default playback mode, press OK. The selected playback mode
will be shown in the display.
To be able to use the Sonic2 playback mode, the output Out Sonic AND the input
Clock In have to be connected to the corresponding connectors on the Pro-Ject
DAC Box RS or on the Pro-Ject Pre Box RS Digital. If one of the connections is
missing or faulty, Sonic2 playback mode cannot be selected.
Inserting a disc
Switch the unit on. Remove the lid and the magnetic clamp. Insert the disc,
with the label side facing upwards.
Place the magnetic clamp on the CD and put the lid on. The display shows:
Loading, don`t open … . After loading, the display shows the total number of
tracks on the disc and the total duration of the disc.
Display shows when lid is removed, no disc is inserted, disc is not supported
or damaged
Display shows after switching on and inserting the lid
Not using the magnetic clamp may cause unexpected behaviour
Changing the colour of the display
Back Play view will change the colour of the characters displayed and the
background colour of the display.
OK confirms the selection. To access that function, playback must on.
Play
starts playback of the first track. The display shows the total number of
tracks on the disc, the total duration of the disc, the current track number,
the elapsed time of the current track and the play icon.
If meta data is present on the disc, artist name, album title, track title and
an icon for the compression method used (MP3, WMA and FLAC) will be displayed.
Pause pauses
playback. The display shows the total number of tracks on the disc, the
total duration of the disc, the current track number, the elapsed time of the
current track and the pause icon.
To resume playback press again.
Stop
stops playback. The display shows the total number of tracks on the disc, the
total duration of the disc and the stop icon.
Stepping between tracks
Press the buttons (previous track) or (next track).
To play the current track from the beginning, press during playback.
The display shows the total number of tracks on the disc, the total duration
of the disc, the current track number, the elapsed time of the current track
and step icon.
Scanning through the disc
Press and hold the button (fast backward) or (fast forward) to scan through
the disc. The display shows the total number of tracks on the disc, the total
duration of the disc, the current track number, the elapsed time of the
current track and the scan icon.
Releasing or will take you back to playback.
Replacing batteries
Proceed as follows:
- Slide open the battery case cover
- Replace the battery. Make sure the battery is the right way round!
- Close the battery case cover
- Battery type: 1 x CR2032 / 3V or 1 x CR2025 / 3V
- Do not dispose the batteries as ordinary domestic refuse. Please dispose your exhausted batteries at the appropriate collection sites – usually located at supermarkets and drugstores.
