Instructions for Use Curette

  • Read instructions carefully before use. Sterile, for single use only. Do not re-sterilize.
  • Curettage is a tangential (flat) removal of superficial skin lesions with a sharp spoon or a curette.
  • Indications for the curettage are epidermal skin abnormalities. Wound healing takes place without scarring. There is no need for a suture.

Instructions for Use

  1. Prepare skin area
    Sterilize the skin area with alcohol.

  2. Anesthetize the skin
    Anesthetize the area to be biopsied by injecting a solution of Lidocaine-HCL 1% subepidermal.

  3. Curettage of the skin
    a. Stretch the skin with the thumb and index finger of the non-active hand.
    Hold curette between thumb, index, and middle finger (penholder technique) with the sharp side at the edge of the lesion.
    b. Gently guide the curette under slight pressure to remove the lesion with a tangential cut.

  4. Wound closure
    Close the wound with tape.
    Sterilized with ethylene oxide by:

  5. Remarks
    To be used only by health care professionals, not by patients.
    Don’t use it if the primary pack (blister) is damaged.
