- Easy swap battery: When switching battery, put the position of the breaker in “O” position. In case there is a second (or further) battery pack connected to the battery bank, the DC voltage from the UPS will flow through without any interruption to the following battery bank(s)
- DC connector: connects to either UPS or 2nd battery pack.
Important Safety Warnings
Please read carefully the following instructions before installing the unit. Do not operate this unit before reading through all safety information and operating instructions carefully!
Preparation
- This battery bank is connected to an UPS. There will be voltage at the output terminals if the UPS is turned on even if the input AC Mains is not available.
- Make sure that the AC Utility outlet is correctly grounded.
- Do not try to repair the unit yourself, contact your local supplier or your warranty will be void.
Installation and connection warnings
- Use a certified input power cable with the correct plugs and sockets.
- To eliminate any overheating of the battery bank, keep all ventilation openings free from obstruction and do not place any foreign objects on top of the battery bank. Keep the battery bank 20 cm away from the wall.
- Make sure the battery bank is installed within the proper environment as specified: 0-40°C and 30-90% non-condensing humidity.
Cautions regarding battery installation
- Do not install the battery bank under direct sunlight. Your warranty will be void if the batteries fail due to overheating.
- This battery bank is designed for indoor use only.
- This battery bank is not designed for use in dusty, corrosive and salty environment.
Storage and maintanance
- The warranty for this battery bank will be void if water or other liquid is spilt or poured directly onto the battery bank. Similarly, warranty is void if any damage to the battery bank occurs due to foreign objects which are deliberately or accidentally inserted into the battery bank enclosure.
- The battery will discharge naturally if the system is unused for a period of time. It should be recharged every 2-3 months if unused. If this is not done, then the warranty will be void.
- During normal operation, the batteries will be automatically charged.
- Servicing of batteries should be performed or supervised by trained personnel only. When replacing batteries, replace with the same quantity, type & capacity.
- The unit contains no user-serviceable parts. If the battery service life has been exceeded, the batteries must be replaced. In this case, please contact your dealer.
Other battery cautions
- Do not dispose of batteries in an open fire, they may explode.
- Do not open or otherwise damage the batteries. The electrolyte from the batteries is toxic and harmful to the skin and eyes. Risk of electric shock! The battery circuit is not isolated from AC, hazardous voltage may exist between battery terminals and ground. Test before touching with bare hands.
- A battery can present a risk of electrical shock and high short circuit current.
Installation
NOTE: Before installation, please inspect the unit. Be sure that nothing inside the package is damaged. Please keep the original package in a safe place for future use.
Rack – mount installation
First fix the holders of the rack on the battery pack.
Then fix the battery pack on the rack through the holders.
Tower installation
Connecting with UPS
Follow the below installation chart in order to connect the battery pack with with Balder 1000/1500 UPS with included cable.
Battery installation
If your battery pack is not installed with batteries, please follow the proper
procedure to put the batteries inside the unit.
NOTE: Make sure that the battery pack is disconnected from the ups before
performing the following sequence of operations!
The following precaution should be observed when working on batteries:
- Remove watches, rings, or other metal objects.
- Use tools with insulated handles.
- Wear rubber gloves and boots.
- Do not lay tools or metal parts on top of batteries as you might produce a short.
- Disconnect charging source prior to connecting or disconnecting battery terminals.
- Do not plug or unplug the battery connector if UPS works in DC (discharging) mode.
- Remove upper and front covers in the order shown below.
- Remove the front panel as shown below.
- Remove the transparent box.
- Open the box and put 3 batteries inside as shown below. You will find a fake battery in the transparent box which is used only to keep all other batteries in place.
- For the correct way to connect the batteries, see image below.
- Close the box and reinsert in designated location. Do the same with the second transparent box.
- Mount the front panel and connect the battery cables with the unit cables. See image below for the correct way to connect.
- Reassemble the upper and front covers.
Disposal of Old Electrical & Electronic Equipment
(Applicable in the European Union and other European countries with separate
collection systems)
This symbol on the product or on its packaging indicates that this product
shall not be treated as household waste.
Instead it shall be handed over to the applicable collection point for the
recycling of electrical and electronic equipment.
By ensuring this product is disposed of correctly, you will help prevent
potential negative consequences for the environment and human health, which
could otherwise be caused by inappropriate waste handling of this product. The
recycling of materials will help to conserve natural resources.
