INSTALLATION

⚠ DANGER ⚠

  • This replacement pressure switch kit is to be installed by a qualified agency in accordance with these instructions and in compliance with all codes and requirements of  authorities having jurisdiction. Failure to follow instructions could result in death, serious injury, and/or property damage. The qualified agency performing this work  assumes responsibility for this installation.
  • Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service, or maintenance can cause property damage, injury, or death. Read these instructions thoroughly before installing or  servicing this equipment.

Install the pressure switch kit as follows:

  1. Turn OFF gas and electric power and remove access panel(s) as necessary.

  2.  Remove existing pressure switch:
    a. Mark and disconnect pressure switch wiring: common (C), normally-open (NO), and normally-closed (NC).
    b. Disconnect pressure switch tubing. If there are two connections, mark tubing: positive (+) and negative (-).
    c. Remove screws that secure pressure switch and remove and discard switch. Save screws.

  3. Install replacement pressure switch:
    a. Position switch using same top hole and mark and drill 1/8-inch bottom hole.
    b. Secure switch using screws removed in step 2c.
    c. If original bottom hole is visible, plug with screw or heat-resistant tape.

  4. Connect pressure switch wiring:

NOTE: Wiring the pressure switch depends on whether or not the terminals on the replacement switch are different from the switch removed.
a. If terminals on replacement pressure switch are same size as on replaced switch, connect wires as marked in step 2a and proceed to step 5.
b. If terminals on replacement pressure switch are not same size as on replaced switch, replace terminals and connect wiring as follows:

NOTE: Select terminals carefully—size difference is only 1/16 inch.

  1. For terminal C wire, cut wire directly behind terminal, strip end of wire approximately 1/4 inch, and crimp on replacement 1/4-inch quick-connect terminal. Connect  wire to terminal C on switch.

  2. For terminal NC wire, cut wire directly behind terminal, strip end of wire approximately 1/4 inch, and crimp on replacement 3/16-inch quick-connect terminal. Connect  wire to terminal NC on switch.

  3. For terminal NO wire, cut wire directly behind terminal, strip end of wire approximately 1/4 inch, and crimp on replacement 1/4-inch quick-connect terminal. Connect  wire to terminal NO on switch.

  4. Connect pressure switch tubing:
    a. If unit has both positive and negative tubing, connect tubing marked positive (+) to positive (+) tubing connection and tubing marked negative (−) to negative (−)  tubing connection.
    b. If unit has one tubing connection, connect tubing to tubing connection on switch.
    c. If unit has aluminum tubing, cut and remove tubing and replace with red silicone tubing to connect sensing tube to pressure switch.
    d. Ensure that tubing is secure.

  5. Replace any removed access panel(s) and turn ON electric power and gas.

  6. Cycle unit and check for proper operation.
