INSTALLATION

DANGER
Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service, or maintenance can cause property damage, injury, or death. Read these instructions thoroughly before installing or servicing this equipment. The qualified agency performing this work assumes responsibility for this installation.
Install the damper motor replacement kit as follows. Item numbers in parentheses refer to Table 2.

  1. Turn OFF gas and electric power.

  2. Remove existing damper motor:
    a. Remove damper motor and linkage access panel.
    b. At damper motor, disconnect linkage from damper arm and close dampers.
    c. Mark and disconnect wiring from motor.
    d. Remove motor with existing mounting bracket.
    (1) For model CAUA, do not remove existing motor support or any other damper linkage.
    (2) For all models except CAUA, remove existing motor support and keep all linkage.

  3. For all models except CAUA, install replacement motor support (4) in same location using screws (5 and 6) as shown in Figure 2.

  4.  Install mounting bracket (2A):
    a. For model CAUA:
    (1) Position mounting bracket (2A) in orientation shown in Figure 3, DETAIL A and align holes on right side with existing holes.
    (2) Mark and drill two 13/64-inch holes on left side.
    (3) Secure mounting bracket (2A) using four screws (9).
    b. For all models except CAUA:
    (1) Position mounting bracket (2A) in orientation shown in Figure 3, DETAIL B on motor support installed in step 3 with left side of bracket extended slightly over outer side of motor support.
    (2) Align mounting bracket (2A) holes with motor support weld nuts and secure bracket using four bolts (7).

  5. Install damper motor (1):
    a. With side of damper motor (1) marked B for model CAUA (see Figure 4, DETAIL A) or A for all models except CAUA (see Figure 4, DETAIL B) facing out, slide motor into mounting bracket installed in step 4.
    b. Align damper motor (1) holes with mounting bracket holes indicated in Figure 3 (DETAIL A for model CAUA or DETAIL B for all models except CAUA) and install two capscrews (2C) through bracket and motor.
    c. Install two hex nut inserts (2D) on capscrews (2C) and torque nuts to 15–20 inch-pounds (1.7–2.3 newtonmeters).

  6. For model CAUA, install crankarm (2F) on damper motor installed in step 5 as follows:
    a. On side of motor marked A, secure crankarm (2F) to motor using capscrew (2C).
    b. On side of motor marked B, install washer (2E) and hex nut insert (2D) on capscrew (2C) and torque nut to
    15–20 inch-pounds (1.7–2.3 newton-meters).

  7. Connect damper motor wiring using wire nuts (3):NOTE: The replacement damper motor wires are two colors: yellow or black and white or red.
    a. Connect yellow or black wire to wire marked D (was connected to D terminal on original motor).
    b. Connect white or red wire to wire marked T (was connected to T terminal on original motor).
    c. For all models except CAUA, if end switch is not used, proceed to step d. If end switch is used, proceed as follows:
    (1) Connect white/blue or black/blue wire to wire marked NC (was connected to NC terminal on original motor).
    (2) Connect white/gray or black/gray wire to wire marked NO (was connected to NO terminal on original motor).
    (3) Connect white/yellow or black/red wire to wire marked COM (was connected to COM terminal on original motor).
    d. Install wire nut (3) on other three motor wires: white/blue or black/blue, white/gray or black/gray, and white/ yellow or black/red.

  8. Reconnect damper linkage:
    a. For model CAUA, reconnect linkage to shaft on damper motor as shown in Figure 5. OPT-DAMPER-MTR (03-22) 209422-A
    INSTALLATION—CONTINUED
    b. For all models except CAUA, insert shaft through damper motor on side of motor marked B, secure shaft with coupler, and reconnect linkage to shaft (see Figure 6).

  9.  Turn ON electric power and gas.

  10. Cycle unit and check for proper operation.
NOTE: The end switch is factory-set to activate the blower motor when the arm reaches the 20-degree position. The switch is adjustable from 10–90 degrees using an adjustment screw on either side of the damper motor.

  11. Verify that damper is 80% open before blower motor activates. If not, adjust end switch as necessary using adjustment screw on damper motor to achieve 80% open damper before blower motor activates. Refer to damper motor manufacturer’s instructions.

  12. When system is operating correctly, install damper motor and linkage access panel.
