OPTION DE5 FOR MODELS VCS AND VCT
WIND AND RAIN HOOD KIT INSTALLATION FOR HARSH ENVIRONMENT GAS-FIRED RADIANT HEATERS

This kit is to be installed by a qualified service agency in accordance with
these instructions and in compliance with all codes and requirements of
authorities having jurisdiction. Improper installation, adjustment,
alteration, service, and/or maintenance can cause property damage, injury, or
death.
The qualified agency performing this work assumes responsibility for this
installation.
CAUTION
It is essential when installing the wind and rain hood kit that clear RTV sealant is used where indicated.
- Refer to the installation manual provided with the unit for important safety information.
- Ensure that all components listed in Table 1 are available before beginning installation.

INSTALLATION
-
Turn OFF gas and disconnect electric power.

Remove screws that secure fresh air inlet plate (see Figure 1, DETAIL A) and carefully pry off plate, which is adhered with sealant, taking care not to damage burner cabinet.

Install gasket on inner flange of outdoor air spigot as shown in Figure 1, DETAIL B.
NOTE: Screws securing outdoor air spigot are installed in the same screw holes as the screws that secured the fresh air inlet plate. -
Apply dab of clear RTV sealant to seal gap in outdoor air spigot collar seam shown in Figure 2 and secure spigot with gasket to burner cabinet using three spigot screws.

Apply full circle bead of clear RTV sealant to mating surface of wind and rain hood cover as shown in Figure 3, DETAIL A and insert cover into outdoor air spigot.

Push wind and rain hood cover fully home and drill screw hole in each side of outdoor air spigot as shown in Figure 3, DETAIL B.

Secure wind and rain hood cover using two self-tapping screws installed in holes drilled in step 6.

After clear RTV sealant has cured, turn ON electric and gas and check unit for proper operation.
