ADDITIONAL SAFETY WARNINGS
Grinding Wheel Warnings
- Do not use a grinding wheel if it is chipped, cracked, or worn. You can check if the wheel has cracks not visible to the human eye by hanging it up by the central hole and tapping it with a non-metal object (ie: screwdriver handle). If it is in good condition it will produce a metallic sound. A dull sound indicates a crack or break.
- Only use grinding wheels that fit the arbor (7/8″). Do not try to change or modify the mounting hole on a grinding wheel to make it fit.
- Do not over-tighten the Nut (#3). Hand tighten it only. Over-tightening may cause the wheel to break or disintegrate.
- Never use the chain saw sharpener without the grinding wheel cover (#2) in place.
- Always test the grinding wheel (#5) by running it for a minute prior to contact with a chain.
- Keep away from the wheel when it is turning, and make sure no one is standing close, in the line of the wheel rotation trajectory.
- If the grinding wheel vibrates, turn off the machine immediately and check that it is mounted securely, and that is not damaged. A 0002 / 2002EA
- Never try to stop the grinding wheel with your hands, even if you are wearing safety gloves. The wheel will cut through gloves and your hand, causing serious injury.
- Never operate tool without the grinding wheel cover in place.
- Replacement grinding wheel listed speed must meet or exceed RPM rating of the tool.
Warning: This machine is designed to sharpen chain saw chains. Do not attempt to sharpen any other tools and do not attempt to grind any other objects.

Setting
Warning: Always unplug the unit while adjusting chain to be sharpened
Note: Raise the top housing while adjusting the chain.
Install the chain to be sharpened
Clean the chain before sharpening it. Wash it with a non-flammable solvent. Don’t use Gasoline to dry the chain.
- Lift up the chain stop ⑭ and let it opened
- Open the vise owing to the tightening screw ⑪.
- Dip the chain with the drive links face down into the guide rail through the vise ⑫.
The cutting direction must face the abrasive disc ⑮.
Set the grinding angle
Rotate the vise⑫ clockwise or anti-clockwise to match the degree angle angle you need on the Angle Gauge.
A 0002 / 2002EA
Chains come in various sizes with varying degrees of sharpening angles. Check with your chain manufacturer’s manual to determine what degree you need to sharpen at. Once the degree is set, lower the engine casing ④ so that the Grinding Wheel ⑮ skims the chain tooth.
Set the chain stop
- Lower the Chain Stop ⑭ so that it is positioned on the tooth (blade) you want to start with.
- Tension the chain back against the chain stopper ⑭
- Lower the Engine Casing ④ to check the amount of material you wish to remove.
- Tighten or loosen the set screw ⑬ and set the Lock Nut
- Once set, lock the chain on the vise turning the tightening screw ⑪ clockwise.
Set the lock wheel
- Lower the engine casing④ to check how deep the grinding wheel ⑮ can be lowered on the chain.
- Hold it at that position while you tighten the the lock wheel ⑦ so that the grinding wheel ⑮ will only go to that point.
Mise en marche
- Put on your protective gear and make sure the immediate area is clear of bystanders.
- Plug in the cable ⑤ and press the ON/OFF switch ③ to turn on the machine and hold the switch down.
- Slowly lower the grinding wheel. If you notice slight errors in your settings, turn off the unit and unplug it before you make your adjustments.
- Note: A good grind occurs when the contact between the wheel and the teeth are gradual and smooth. Do not stop too long time on each tooth.
- After sharpening one tooth, turn off the machine by releaseing the ON/OFF switch. Lift the Engine Casing. Tilt the chain stopper ⑭ back and let it rest in its open position.
Open the vise by turning the tightening screw ⑪ counterclockwise until there is enough space to move the chain back. Move the chain so that the next link is positioned in the chain stopper (remember to skip a link because the cutting angle is alternating). Tilt chain stopper ⑭ forward and let it stop just behind the sharpening link. Close the vise ⑫ to lock the chain in this position by turning the tightening screw ⑪ clockwise. Continue to sharpen the other links with the defined angle.
A 0002 / 2002EA
When all the chain links have been sharpened with the previously set angle, make the necessary adjustments for the chain links with the opposite angle and sharpen them as well. As you did with the first half of the chain, be sure to lower the motor housing ④ so that the sanding disc ⑮ brushes the chain links and lock it in place. Follow all of the previously described steps to check everything before plugging in the unit and turning it back on.
Remember to turn off the machine and unplug it if you need to make any adjustments
- After you repeat all of the steps under sharpening, your chain is ready to be mounted on your saw.
Depth gauge
After sharpening, measure the depth jig space. There should always be a space between the chain link and the reamer. Otherwise, the chain will not cut. If necessary, the reamer should be filed according to the characteristics of your chain.
