General safety instructions

Safety Precautions!
Do not operate the equipment before studying the instruction manual and these safety instructions. Make sure that Profoto Safety Instructions is always accompanied the equipment. Profoto products are intended for indoor conditions use. Do not place or use the equipment where it can be exposed to moisture, extreme electromagnetic fields, or in areas with flammable gases or dust! Do not expose the equipment to dripping or splashing. Do not expose the equipment to hasty temperature changes in humid conditions as this could lead to condensation water in the unit. Equipment must only be serviced, modified or repaired by authorized and competent service personnel.
Note about RF!
This equipment makes use of the radio spectrum and emits radio frequency energy. Make sure the device is operated according to local regulations. The frequency spectrum this device is using is shared with other users. Interference cannot be ruled out. Regulations change from time to time, so please make sure you are using the latest firmware and instructions to ensure compliance with rules and regulations. These can be downloaded free from Profoto.com.

Final Disposal
When the product reach end of service, do not dispose of it with your other household waste. Equipment contains battery, electrical and electronic components that could be harmful to the environment. Equipment may be returned to Profoto distributors free of charge for recycling. Follow local legislation for disposal of batteries, electrical and electronic components, respectively.

This small and carefully designed pod allows you to trigger your lights from the top of your camera with just three settings; off, auto and manual.
This is the power of simplicity. This is the freedom to create. This is you allowing your imagination to run wild. Because the truth is, created light can be every bit as beautiful as natural light, and just as easy to work with. This is you being free to create.

How to connect the Profoto Connect with the Profoto app

  1. Start the Profoto app on your smartphone.
  2. Find and connect to your device via Bluetooth. The name includes a part of the serial number that is printed on the Profoto Connect.
  3. Use the Profoto app for instructions, inspiration and expanded creative tools.
  4. Start shooting!

How to use Profoto Connect in Auto mode

  1. Attach the Profoto Connect to the camera’s hot shoe and turn it to AUTO (automatic mode). A good flash power will now be set for you automatically.
  2. Start shooting!
  3. You can make your images brighter or darker by finetuning the automatic flash power in the Profoto app.

How to use Profoto Connect in Manual mode

  1. Attach the Profoto Connect to the camera’s hot shoe and turn it to MANUAL (manual mode). You can now control the flash power manually.
  2. Open the Profoto app to get access to all additional features.
  3. Start shooting!

Additional notes

  • To detach the Profoto Connect from your camera, press the release button and slide it off.
  • To charge the battery, connect the device to a power source with the USB-C to USB-A charging cable.
  • The default radio setting for Profoto Connect is channel = 1.
  • Profoto Connect automatically enters sleep mode after 30 minutes of inactivity and switches off completely after 60 minutes.

Blue| Connecting to the Profoto app via Bluetooth.
Blinking: Bluetooth connection has ended.

Yellow| Low battery/Battery is charging.
Red| Critically low battery.

Profoto Control app
Download the Profoto Control app and pair it with your Connect to unlock all features on your Connect. Some of the features you can access through the Profoto Control   pp is:

  • Access to more channels: If another photographer is using the same channel, you have 99 other channels to choose from so that your products don’t interfere with each other.
  • AUTO offsets: When Profoto Connect is in AUTO mode, you can add offsets to the default energy output to make all images a little brighter or a little darker.
  • Remote control: When Profoto Connect is in MANUAL mode,you can remote control the flash power on up to 6 individual groups of flashes.
  • Product registration and updates: Register your Connect in the app to get instant notice and access to the latest software updates when they are available.

Profoto Connect compatibility

  • Profoto Connect-C is designed for Canon cameras using Canon’s E-TTL II metering system.
  • Profoto Connect-N is designed for Nikon cameras using Nikon’s i-TTL metering system.
  • Profoto Connect -S is designed for Sony cameras using Sony’s TTL II metering system.
  • Profoto Connect -F is designed for Fuji cameras using Fuji’s TTL metering system.
  • Profoto Connect-O/P is designed for Olympus cameras using Olympus’ TTL metering system and for Panasonic camera using Panasonic´s TTL metering system.
  • Some camera models may not be supported or have limited functionality. See profoto.com for the latest information on camera compatibility.
  • Profoto Connect is not compatible with any third-party radio triggering systems, speed lights or non-Profoto flashes.
  • All Profoto Connect versions triggers all Profoto flashes that have Profoto Air inside. Depending on which version of Profoto Air that is built into the flash, extended functionality in Profoto Connect may not be compatible. Below table provides a rough compatibility overview.
