AniScale 291322 Animal scale
Operating instructions
AniScale Animal Scale #291322
General
These operating instructions comprise instructions for use and safety information. Please read the instructions carefully and note the regulations and relevant information before putting the device into operation. Please keep these operating instructions in a safe place for later use!
Correct use
The scale is used to display a weight signal, which is determined using the associated weigh beams. A weighing cage is attached to the weigh beams in order to weigh animals up to 1500kg.
Safety instructions
CAUTION! Improper use risks physical injury and damage to equipment!
- The scale does not include any user-serviceable components and must be installed and/or serviced by authorised and qualified personnel only. Leave the housing closed.
- Allow sufficient time for the scale to warm up before weighing.
- Do not expose the scale to long periods of extreme heat or cold. Use and store the scale in a dry environment at temperatures between 5 and 35°C.
- Electronic scales are precision instruments. Do not use near mobile phones, radios, computers or other electronic devices that emit radio frequencies and could destabilise readings.
- Place the item being weighed on the weighing plate and record the weight immediately. If items being weighed remain on the scale for a long time, the properties of the weighing cell output signal can change, which can be associated with lower measurement accuracy.
- The battery must be recharged after no more than six months. Only use the supplied charging cable to recharge the battery.
- Ensure the scale is positioned securely, especially when weighing live animals.
- Do not remove the battery from the housing. Battery short circuits may cause burns.
- Stop battery charging when the battery is sufficiently charged, but no later than after 24 hours.

8 Fine-wire fuse
9 Weigh beams
10 Charger
---|---
Preparation
-
Place the weigh beams on a level surface
-
When selecting a set-up location, ensure that no water can directly enter or drain quickly out of the interior of the weigh beams.
-
Place a platform (e.g. the weighing platform) on the weigh beams. Ensure sufficient protection from slipping, especially if you are weighing live animals.
-
Connect both weigh beams to the display unit.
If only one weigh beam is connected, or the connection to one of the two weigh beams is interrupted, incorrect values for the total weight will be displayed. -
If necessary, disconnect the charger from the display unit. Charge the batteries before first use. Close the socket for the charger
-
Allow sufficient time for the scale to warm up before weighing.
Operation
Switching on
Remove the charger once the battery is charged. Tun the switch to position 1.
The display will show init for a few seconds. The display will then show the
current weight in the first line and the total of the previous values in the
second line.
TARE
Pressing the TARA key will set the display of the current weight in the first
line of the display to 0. This means you can disregard the weight of the
platform, the weighing cage, a pallet or other container for the displayed
weight.
Weighing
Set the scale to 0 using TARA before placing the item to be weighed on the
scale or placing the animal to be weighed into the weighing cage. Then load
the scale with the weight to be weighed. The weight will be shown in the first
line of the display. Read the weight from the display promptly after placing
the weight on the scale. The measurement properties of the weigh beams change
over longer periods and could lead to lower measurement accuracy.
ANIMAL WEIGHING FUNCTION
Unstable loads such as animals or moving objects can be weighed using the
animal weighing function. First place the weight on the scale. Then press the
button. This stabilises the weight shown on the display. Wait until the first
line of the display no longer changes. As soon as the weight has stabilised,
the weight display is frozen until the weight has been completely unloaded
again.
Certain parameters (minimum weight, stabilisation time etc.) can be adjusted
in the setup for the animal weighing function (see chapter 9).
Summing the values
After you have stabilised the weight using the animal weighing function, you
can add it to a total sum. This function allows you to, for example, determine
an average weight after completing all weighings.
Press the SUM ADD button. The current weight in the first display line will be
added to the sum in the second display line. The weight can only be summed if
it has already been stabilised using the animal weighing function. Press the
SUM ADD button before the animal leaves the scale again, otherwise the current
weight will reset.
Resetting the sum
If you press the SUM >0< button, the total sum in the second display line will
reset to 0. The sum saved up until this point will be lost once the sum is
reset.
Overloading
If the scale is loaded beyond its total capacity, dots will flash between the
digits on the display (e.g. 1.5.0.8.). If the weight is higher than can be
displayed, the display will show ‘—–’ in the first line.
Battery charging
- If the battery charge is low and just a few more minutes of operating time remain, the battery display will begin to flash.
- If the battery is empty, the red LED on the front of the display unit will light up.
- Switch the scale off. Connect the charger to the socket on the display unit. Plug the power plug of the charger into a mains socket.
- The LED display Charge on the charger shows the battery is charging. The battery is fully charged once the display turns off. Finish charging and disconnect the battery charger.
- Only use the battery charger supplied by the manufacturer.
- End the charging process and remove the charger once the battery is fully charged. This should be no more than 24 hours in any event.
- If the Charge display does not turn off after 24 hours, please contact the manufacturer.
- If the battery is not charged despite the Charge display turning off, please contact the manufacturer.
Other settings / calibration
Open the setup menu by pressing the SETUP button when switching on. Here, you can change basic scale settings (e.g. measurement precision and animal weighing function parameters) and calibrate the scale. Please see the separate service manual for the possible settings. Please contact the manufacturer for this.
Cleaning /maintenance
CAUTION! Risk of physical injury and material damage if used incorrectly!
Before starting any cleaning work, disconnect the mains plug.
- Use a damp cloth to clean the scale components. Avoid liquid in the plug contact of the display unit.
- For maintenance purposes, it is necessary to completely recharge the battery no later than after six months.
Maintenance and repair
The device does not require maintenance, but should be thoroughly cleaned at regular intervals. In the event of a fault, the device must be taken out of use immediately. If a repair is required, please contact a specialist or send the device for repair to the manufacturer. A faulty connecting cable should also only be replaced by the manufacturer or a qualified electrician. Only use original spare parts. Do not continue use if the battery cannot be recharged
