Overview
This kit includes all the logs and media needed for installation into the 48” DaVinci Timber Fire Fireplaces (Single Sided & See through). The log set has duplicates of logs 1-4. The duplicates are not spare logs, they are all to be used and their placement will give them each a unique appearance. Pay close attention to the log placement to ensure that the logs do not obstruct any of the burner holes.
Installation Warnings
NOTE: The fireplace should be in place and vented and the firebacks must be installed prior to installing the log set.
• The logs are fragile, especially after being exposed to heat.
• Make sure the gas control valve is OFF and the heater is cool prior to
conducting service.
• Failure to position the parts in accordance with these diagrams or failure
to use only parts specifically approved with this appliance may result in
property damage or personal injury.
• The burner must be correctly positioned before installing the log set. Make
sure the burner is fully seated and the pilot is properly aligned. See the
owner’s manual for details on burner removal.
48” Timber Fire Log Installation Overview
This log set is used in both the see-through and single-sided 48” versions of the Timber Fire. There are multiple of the first 4 logs in the set. Some face the service side of the fireplace and the others of the same log will face the non-service side of the fireplace.
NOTE : Make sure that the firebacks are installed before installing the log set.

- Glass lifting suction cup set (sku# – 94400914)
Installation Notes
WARNINGS:
- Make sure the gas control valve is OFF and the heater is cool prior to conducting service.
- Failure to position the parts in accordance with these diagrams or failure to use only parts specifically approved with this appliance may result in property damage or personal injury.
HINTS:
- The fireplace should be in place, with the gas line and vent attached and the firebacks installed.
ORDER OF INSTALLATION:
- Remove the burner
- Remove the log grate(s).
- Dress the media tray with Ember-Glo™ glass.
- Reinstall the log grate(s)
- Reinstall burner
- Place the logs as shown.
- Place ember chunks on the Ember-Glo glass.
- Reinstall the inner glass pane
- Reinstall the inner fireback filler pieces (removed to install firebacks).
- Dress the outer media tray with Ember-Glo glass
- Place ember chunks on the Ember-Glo glass.
- Reinstall the outer glass pane
- Reinstall the outer fireback filler pieces (removed to install firebacks).
- Reinstall the barrier screen (removed to install firebacks).
Firebox Preparation

Remove the (6) screws that secure the burner to the fireplace. Set the screws aside for reinstallation.

Remove the burner by lifting the assembly straight up and removing it from the fireplace.

Use a ¼” driver to remove the screws (4) screws (1 on each end of both log grates) that secure the log grates to the fireplace. Set the screws aside for reinstallation.

Remove each of the log grates from the fireplace.

Install Ember-Glo glass onto the inner media tray (Not the outer media tray between the location of the two pieces of glass). Spread the glass over the media tray so that none of the metal media tray is visible.
NOTE: There are holes where the legs of the log grates penetrate the media tray. Do not allow any glass to go down in those holes. After the grates are reinstalled, more glass will be used to fill in around the legs of the grate to disguise the media tray. -
Reinstall the log grates.
Secure them to the fireplace using the screws removed earlier. Use more of the Ember-Glo glass to cover the remainder of the inner media tray. -
Reinstall the burner into the fireplace. The firebox should now look as shown below.

Install one of the log #1’s in the back left corner of the log grate. The front of this log is the side with the least amount of charring. When placing this log note that the front of the log (shown to the right) faces the fireback (if a single-sided unit) or back glass (see-through the unit). There are three notches in the bottom of the log and each notch straddles one of the rears left three log grate fingers. With the log in place, push it toward the back wall of the fireplace until it is contacting the rear vertical log grate
fingers.

Install the second log #1 in the front right corner for the log grate. The front of this log (side with the least amount of charring) should face you. The log rests on the front log grate in the same manner as the previous log.

Install one of the #2 logs on the front left of the log grate as shown to the right. There are three notches on the log that rest on the first three left front log grate fingers.
With the log in place, pull it toward the front of the fireplace until it is contacting the front vertical log grate fingers.

Install the second #2 log in the right, rear corner of the log grate. The front of the log faces the rear fireback (single-sided) or rear glass (see-through).
The firebox should now look as shown below.

Install one of the #3 logs as shown. The front of the log faces the rear fireback (single-sided) or rear glass (see through. There are three notches on the bottom of the log that rest on the three center fingers of the log grate.
NOTE: Once the log is in place, slide it left until the left end of the log is touching the end of log #1. There will be a gap between the right end of the log and the end of log #2. -
Install the second log #3 as shown.
The front of the log faces forward.
There are three notches on the bottom of the log that rest on the three center fingers of the log grate.
NOTE: Once the log is in place slide it right until the right end of the log is touching the end of log #1 there will be a gap between the left end of the log and the end of log #2.
The firebox should now look as shown below.

Use the (4) burner cluster cover pieces to obscure the view of the (4) burner clusters. The mouse hole in the burner cluster cover should line up with the mouse hole in the burner cluster. There is a ridge along the back of each of the burner cluster covers that rests on the top edge of the metal surround of each the burner clusters

Single-Sided ONLY!! Install the log filler piece in the gap between the rear #2 and #3 logs. If installing into a see-through unit skip this step.

Install (5) of (6) log placement pins in the holes indicated.

Install one of the #4 logs as shown below. The narrower end should be on the right. Log #4 has (2) slotted holes on the bottom of the log that fit over log locating pins #4 and #5 (see picture above).

Install the remaining log #4 as shown below. The wider end should be on the right. The log has (2) slotted holes on the bottom of the log that fit over log locating pins #1 and #2 (see step 16).

Install the remaining log placement pin into the hole on the top of the left log #4

Place log number #5 as shown below. Log #5 has (3) slotted holes on the bottom of the log. The two outer holes sit over the locating pins 5 and 6. The larger end of the log should point toward the rear of the fireplace.
NOTE: The notch on the end of the log rests against the cut branch on log4

Place a row of ember chunks on top of the Ember-Glo glass along the bottom of the log grate.
NOTE: Make sure that no glass or ember chunks are obstructing the slot where the inner glass will rest. If anything has fallen into the slot, remove it with a vacuum, small screwdriver, or compressed air. -
Reinstall the inner glass using the glass lifting suction cup set. Take care not to damage the edges of the glass when placing it back on the fireplace.

install the right and left fireback filler pieces that were removed when removing the glass. The notched end of the fireback filler pieces should be on the bottom.

Spead a layer of Ember-Glo glass on the outer media tray (will be between the two panes of glass). Make sure to cover the media tray completely, so none of the trays is visible. After the Ember-Glo glass is in place, randomly place ember chunks on the glass.
NOTE: Make sure that no glass or ember chunks are obstructing the slot where the inner glass will rest. If anything has fallen into the slot, remove it with a vacuum, small screwdriver, or compressed air.

Reinstall the outer glass using the glass lifting suction cup set. Take care not to damage the edges of the glass when placing it back on the fireplace.

Reinstall the barrier screen
