    Product Overview

Before first use

Open the sandwich maker and remove both toasting plates (see Cleaning). Wash all the plates under running water and dry them.

Important notice

Switch the sandwich maker on by connecting the plug to the socket always shortly before using the appliance and switch the appliance off by disconnecting it from the socket immediately after you finish toasting or grilling.

Sandwiches

Insert the toasting plates for sandwiches into the sandwich maker and gently press on them until the locks of the plates snap into place (1). Treat both plates with a thin layer of cooking oil or melted butter or margarine; remove any excess fat with a clean napkin.

Close the sandwich maker and gently press on the lid until the closure snaps into place. Connect the plug of the power cord to the 230 V grid; the red control light will go on and the sandwich maker will take about 5 minutes to preheat completely (2).

When the green control light goes on, the sandwich maker has reached the working temperature and is ready for toasting (3).

Notice: The sandwich maker may slightly smell during the first use as a result of the heating elements being heated for the first time. This is normal and will not happen in further use.

Open the sandwich maker and put two sandwiches with filling onto the bottom plate (see the Recipes) so that the sandwiches and their filling do not expand over the sides of the toasting plate. Close the sandwich maker and gently press on the lid until the closure snaps into place (4).

Notice: If the lid of the sandwich maker cannot be closed and the closure does not snap into place, check whether the plates are placed correctly in the sandwich maker and whether the food inside is stacked too high. In both cases disconnect the appliance from the socket, leave it to cool down, resolve the problems and repeat the process.

Toasted sandwiches are usually cooked in 3 to 5 minutes; the toasting time can be changed depending on the type of bread, filling and personal preferences. You can open the sandwich maker while toasting to visually inspect the food.
When the sandwiches are cooked, disconnect the appliance from the socket, open the sandwich maker, gather the toasted food using a non-metal object that is not sharp and transfer them to a plate (5).

Notice: The green control light will go off and on again during toasting and grilling – this means that the appliance maintains a stable working temperature.

Waffles
Insert the toasting plates for waffles into the sandwich maker and spread batter for waffles onto the bottom plate (see the Recipes). Proceed further in the same way as when preparing sandwiches. Waffles are usually cooked in 10 to 12 minutes.

Grilled panini, meat, fish and vegetables
Insert the grilling plates into the sandwich maker. Place onto the bottom plate panini, slices of lean pork or chicken, fish fillets or suitable vegetables cut into reasonably thick slices (see the Recipes). Proceed further in the same way as when preparing sandwiches. The time of grilling panini, meat, fish and vegetables may differ depending on the kind of food; panini are usually grilled in 5 minutes while the grilling of meat, fish and vegetables takes 12 minutes.

Important notice
The toasting and grilling plates are hot in use – do not touch them. Always use a suitable object that is not sharp for handling hot food in the sandwich maker; use an oven mitt when necessary

Cleaning

Disconnect the sandwich maker from the grid before cleaning and always leave it to cool down entirely. Release the closure of the lid and open the sandwich maker. Clean the toasting and grilling plates in the sandwich maker using a moist cloth with a gentle detergent solution and dry with a paper towel. When needed, release the locks (6), remove the plates and clean them using the soft side of a moist kitchen sponge and then dry them (7). When needed, clean the other parts of the sandwich maker with a moist cloth with some detergent and dry them. Make sure in cleaning that water does not enter the area with heating coils.

Notice: Do not wash the sandwich maker and the plates in dishwasher! Never use abrasive cleaning agents, sharp objects, scourers etc. for cleaning.

Storage

The sandwich maker can be stored in a vertical position to save space (8).

Recipe: Whip two parts olive oil and one part vinegar and a little minced garlic into a dressing and season it with salt and pepper. Spread layers of ham, mozzarella, tomato and basil leaves onto the bottom half of the baguette cut lengthwise, then drizzle with the dressing and season with salt and pepper to taste.
